Janice looked down at the lovely pink uniform she was putting on. She'd never been clothed in anything so... brand new before. The clothes had been expertly cut to her size, and its buttons gleamed like pearls.
She hated having to admit it, but she felt excited to start work in the manor. She hadn't seen her mother since breakfast, and she wondered how she was doing.
Janice had already began at her first task in the manor. Her mother and Penelope, the head chef, had set to work making the family's lunch. She was being shown round the manor by another serving girl like herself. Her name was Fiona. The quirky, slender girl probably about her age had mouse brown hair and brown eyes.
Quite an ordinary face, when taken into consideration, but the way she spoke made you think she was pretty. It also made most people more inclined to think she was something of a gossip.
