I had learned that much from Zeus, and to tell you the truth, that was a real son of a bitch thing to do to people that never asked for any of this. Still, Jim was clearly a big shot, and if anyone should know what they were talking about, it was him. He told me that I needed to be wary of poor divine beings, but this really didn't sound like it was their fault.
"Look, Aquaria. You seem like a really nice woman, and you are beyond beautiful, but I don't know how I can help you," I said, and then pointed back to the office area down the hall. "And I need to go meet with my next client."
"That's okay! Let me at least take you for lunch and tell you my offer! I can be your next client, depending on how fast you finish your next job, okay?!" She begged, grabbing my shirt and putting her face close to mine, pushing me against the wall. I half expected to fall right through it with my bad luck, but the chaos seemed to be staying away for now.
"Sure, but I am extremely bad luck. Like, a magnet or something for it," I said, but she just smiled.
"That is one thing that I can do for you, but I will explain it to you later, okay?" Aquaria asked, and I nodded with a sigh. She was so damn pretty, I never stood a chance.
"Sure," I said, and she let go of me and finally backed up to let me breathe.
"Good! I will be waiting for you out front!" She said and then ran off.
I watched her go and then sighed. What had I just got myself into?
I shook my head and headed back to the office area, and started to look around for Zeus' supposed ugly assistant, Frond. I was really not sure what that meant since every divine being in this world seemed to be better looking than me. As I passed by a bunch of other divine beings, I finally noticed a small figure in the corner that seemed like it was out of place. I got closer and realized that this person had to be Frond because he looked so out of place there.
"Hey! Are you Frond?" I asked, and the being nodded before pointing towards a door at the end of the hallway. "Is that where I go for my meeting with Helena?" I asked, and he nodded his head.
I smiled at him and started walking down the hallway, but before I reached the door, there was a voice behind me.
"Good luck, Trigger," The voice said, and I turned around to find that the figure was gone. Where did he go just now!?
I shook my head and opened the door. I was sure that I would be able to figure out whatever was going on eventually. Inside the room was another beautiful woman, but she was in a much darker theme than the beautiful Aquaria. If it was even possible, she looked slightly more attractive than her, even pissed off and in a foul mood. I suddenly didn't really want to be in the same room with this intimidating woman!
"You are him?" She asked in a snarl, and my eyes widened, and I pointed at myself.
"I think so? A plain-looking small man told me this was the room, so I will assume you are my client, Helena?" I asked, and she clicked her tongue, pointing to the chair that was seated across from her. The room was white like the one Jim and I had talked in before and had the same layout with two chairs and a table between them.
"At least you are not a complete idiot," She said, and I nodded. Hearing her spiteful voice made her kind of sound petty and sore, and I relaxed.
"Not an idiot at all. Let's cut to the chase. You failed, and now you need my help, so you don't lose your special target, right? If you are hiring me, talk to me like normal and leave your grievances behind," I said, and she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Do you know who my father is?" She asked in an icy tone, and I rolled my eyes. She did not just pull that line on me!
"Yes, I know that your dad is Hades. What of it? Are you going to call him and ask him to give me a good talking to?" I asked, and then leaned back and crossed my arms. I was not having this. "The way I see it, This is a test and something that normally can't be done, right? Except for an exceptional person such as myself, yes?" I queried, and Helena looked like her breasts were about to pop out of her black dress from all the air she was sucking in to give me the what for, so I put up my hand. "But, being such a nice guy, I am willing to help, so let's start again, okay? I am Halberd, your killer for hire," I said, and she deflated as I offered my hand across the table.
"You know that kind of attitude will not work with a Three Star! Right?!" She snapped after a long pause, and I tossed my hands up.
"What the hell did you call me in for? To kill someone or ask about my attitude?! Why don't we talk about yours?! Jim sent me to Zeus, and he sent me to you!" I growled, but suddenly, everything changed the moment I said Jim's name.
Helena jumped back up out of her chair and back up until she was at the wall. She pressed her body into it like she was trying to get farther away while also hissing. All of this, and she kept her eyes looking at mine.
Out of all the things that I had seen since I first met Jim, this was by far the strangest. There was nothing to make sense of the situation, and all I could do was sit and stare back at her. What is the exorcist taking glue laced with stupid pills was going on here?! Had I said a magic spell or cursed things by accident?!
For roughly five minutes, I counted; Helena was glued to the wall hissing at me. I had tried to speak, but that just got more eccentric, hissing and violent head shaking. At that point, I figured that I should just get up and get help, but the moment I moved, eccentric hissing, so I just waited.
Then it stopped, and Helena relaxed, peeled herself off the wall like nothing had happened, and adjusted her dress. I watched as she came back over and then sat back down, still looking at me. I was sure that I had a mixture of horror and mortification glued on my face, but then Helena bowed her head, and it was replaced with a confused one.
"I am sorry. It seems you are much greater than I, and my father made sure that I understood that. While I knew the name of what you are, a Chaos Trigger, I had no idea just what that meant. You have my deepest apologies, and I would like to know if we could, as you said, start over?" She said and then held out her hand.
