Chapter 14 - Reminiscing memories

~ Orion's POV~ _________________________________________________________________________________________________

I watched as everyone slept calmly in Lila's room. Mason and Lila were asleep next to me, while Darius and Octavius were sprawled out on the bed opposite to ours. We were still in Lila's room. It was a moonless night tonight, so it was pretty dark in the room. It was a beautiful scenario to see all my mates sleeping peacefully together. I felt the bed move as Lila snuggled deeper into my chest, while Mason had his hand wrapped around her waist.

She was such a pretty little thing. I couldn't believe what she had been through before coming here to us. I thought we would never meet again. I was saddened by the thought all these years. However, no one could believe the surprise on my face when I saw her amidst the blizzard that day. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my chest. I felt relieved to have found her again. Further, when we found that we were mates, it felt like the time that had been frozen started flowing once again. Everything around me seemed colorful in this dark era.

I brushed her long hair using my fingers, feeling its softness and silkiness at my fingertips.

"Orion." Darius mind linked me.

"Yeah?" My eyes scanned the room landing on his.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Not sleepy?"

"No. The drop of blood I drank from Lila earlier is potent enough to leave me completely awake for a long time." I responded.

He mentally chuckled. "I know what you mean. For me, too."

We sighed.

"But at least we know she's asleep well."

"Yes."

I couldn't believe what my mates told me earlier. Mason and Lila were willing to come to Hell with us when we died. That meant a lot to us who were damned to Hell from the moment we found out about species.

I still remember the first time we came to his world. Darius and I underwent our transformation. It felt like our whole body was on fire. We met the headmaster who was out scouting an area of the forest for demons. I still remember that day vividly.

A youthful looking man with lustrous silver hair looked down at my trembling body in the snow. "Are you alright?" He smiled warmly, leaning over as it felt like my whole body was burning. Sweat beaded my forehead as my breath came out in short pants.

I shook my head with tears streaming down my face.

He bent down to my level.

"What is your name?" He asked softly.

"O-Orion." I responded through the pain.

"And what about your friends over there." He pointed at Darius, who was screaming in his sleep. His body kept convulsing around.

"Darius!"

"Good work, Orion. I'm Mr. Gerald, welcome to Ragnarök. Come with me. I will take care of you two." He extended his hand again.

Without failing, my shivering hand held on to his. He smiled warmly at me and ordered two men wearing all black with covered faces to carry us to someplace else. My eyes closed on their own, with the searing pain ripping through my body.

We were out for almost two weeks, writhing in pain. When I woke up later, we were at the academy in the treatment room. Our small bodies had disappeared and were replaced with taller and stronger ones. I don't think we look much different from when we first saw ourselves in the mirror after coming here and seeing ourselves now.

Mr. Gerald never left our side. He calmly explained to us where we were and slowly told us what we were. We were left baffled and speechless upon hearing the things we only heard in legends were truly alive. The room was silent for a long time as we processed our situation and circumstances.

After a week of recovering, we started attending classes, knowing there was no way out of here. Besides Mr. Gerald, the headmaster, had promised us that no one would harm us. We quickly realized that we were smarter and better than other kids our age at the academy, so we moved up to taking advanced classes. That's where we met Blake and Jace, who were in the same class as us at that time. We became friends soon, although Blake and Jace were just a few years older than us. We had been together for a few years, after which they met their mates Yukio and Rosie. We separated then but would interact with each other sometimes.

We felt alone for a while. Seeing our dear friends find their mates, Darius and I became interested in finding our own mates. That was the first time we heard about it. We secretly hoped Lila was with us and was our mate. We hoped that we could meet her again someday. Soon after, we met Octavius when we were assigned a mission together. Mason joined us, too. At first, we were hesitant about going with anyone other than Blake and Jace, but seeing that there was no other option, we decided to go with them. We became friends through completing commissions together. We became so close that it felt natural for us to be next to each other.

Then Lila crossed through dimensions to our world, filling out lives with more joy than ever imaginable. It felt like we were complete when Lila met us and accepted us as her mates. I was more than overjoyed when she arrived, safe and sound. I was relieved that she didn't have to go through the pain that we went through when we first transformed upon arriving. Her transformation was quick and painless.

A knock sounded on the door, alerting me immediately. "I got it!" Darius got up and went to go get the door without making a single noise.

"Who is it at this hour?" I asked, mind linking him. It was almost close to 2 AM.

"Gerald is requesting us to meet him."

"Wait, I'll join you too."

I gently placed Lila's body on the bed. She whimpered and snuggled into Mason, who happily hugged her in his sleep. They were so adorable together. I wanted to keep this cute memory forever with me. I giggled inwardly at them.

I swiftly closed the door and teleported at the front door.

"What took you so long?" Darius scoffed.

"I couldn't bear to leave the sight of seeing Mason and Lila being adorable together." I sighed, wiping away at fake tears.

He gruntled, walking ahead of me.

I laughed, throwing an arm over his shoulder and walking fast with him. "Jealous?" I whispered in his ear.

He looked away from me and continued walking with folded hands, making me laugh at him even louder. He was definitely jealous that he didn't see it.

In a few minutes, we arrived at the headmaster's office.

"I'm sorry for calling you both out so late at night. But there has been an emergency commission." He spoke seriously, pushing his spectacles higher on his nose. "We have just received intel that there are two demons spotted in the main city. One of them seems to eat everything in its way, while the other one just destroys everything in its way, including humans."

"Beelzebub's and Satan's minions?" Darius investigated further.

"Yes, precisely. That's why I can only send you two out in the field. "

"Understood. We will leave now." Darius replied as we went to exit the room.

"Oh, and one more thing. How is Lila doing these days?" He asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"She's adjusting fine." I replied bothered by his intrusion.

"Does that mean I will become a grandfather soon?" He asked as his eyes looked directly into mine.

"You... you bastard!" I flushed in embarrassment while Darius laughed as we walked out.

"I expect good news soon, sons!" His response came from the room.

We walked faster away from the maniac. Let's just say he was a sucker for small children. He took us in and asked us multiple times to call him 'father', but we were embarrassed to call him that. He did take care of us more so than he paid attention to anyone else at this school, but we were still embarrassed to call him that.

Shaking my head, I teleported to Darius, who was already running for the dorms. I could see a slight blush on his ears, too. That one was blushing, too. It made me slightly happy knowing I wasn't the only one embarrassed. Well, I do want children, but not right now when everything is so unsteady. Besides, we have an eternity to spend together.

We went to our rooms, got dressed, and took our swords. We forgot to take it with us earlier. We then quickly teleported to the city, following the directions given to us by the headmaster. We needed to blow off some steam either way because Lila's blood still had a potent effect on me and Darius.

Upon arriving, we didn't even need to find the demons as we heard the stomping of multiple feet heavily and explosions towards our right. We quickly ran toward the noise.

We only stopped upon seeing the two demons. They were both huge, towering over me by almost 15 feet. I was standing on the rooftop of a six-storey building. Unliked normal demons, they both varied in colours. While one was a dark green coloured jelly like substance which kept secreting big beads of sweat on the ground as he gobbled anything in his way, the other had a dark shade of maroon body that kept stomping on the buildings, streetlights, carts and everything in its way. Both of them had two glowing red eyes each, meaning they were still low ranked in the underworld.

It was going to be a piece of cake, or so I thought.

I unsheathed my sword, pulling it out and taking an attacking stance. I watched as Darius took out his and equipped his powers on the blade of his sword, which was now glowing red with flames burning on it. He grinned at me and lunged for attacking Satan's minion that destroyed everything in its path.

Guess that leaves me with Beelzebub's minion, who ate everything in its way. My focus shifted towards my target as I lunged forward and teleported near his huge neck. Forcing my power into my upper limbs, I swung my sword, cutting his neck in one strike. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his huge hand raised to strike me. I quickly teleported back to the rooftop of the building as his hand hit empty air.

He groaned in pain as he fell backward with a huge thud, causing vibrations to pass through the ground underneath me. I watched as the wound I caused did nothing but merely scratched his neck.

What? How? I was so sure that I cut through his neck carefully, beheading him. But there was no time to lose. In the distance, I could hear the people running away from this place. It was good to know that there were no humans in the vicinity of these demons.

I quickly teleported on his chest as I walked towards his neck to closer examine the wound I caused earlier.

"You! You, cut me." He groaned, clawing at his own neck. Black blood came trickled on the pebble ground under him.

"Disgusting." He stunk of rotting and decomposing living things, making my nose scrunch up in disgust.

All of a sudden, he let out a laugh, hissing in pain. The ground vibrated with every laugh, making the hair on my back stand up. "My Lord will come for the little human, your mate..."

The word mate caught my attention. I didn't give him time to say anything else as I sliced through the wound using more of my powers, making sure I beheaded him completely.

His wound burst open, splattering blood everywhere. I swiftly covered my body with my cloak. After seeing that he was beheaded, I swung my sword around to get rid of the black blood and sheathed it again.

"Let him come. I for sure won't let any harm come to anything that belongs to me."

My cloak was drenched in black blood. Well, nothing can be done about that. Beelzebub's minion died at my hands. I looked at my hands in wonder. If a drop of her blood can increase my powers so much, I wonder how much Darius' powers increased.

As if on cue, I heard a grunt a little far from here. I teleported shorter distances as I looked back one last time to see his body disintegrate into thin air slowly. Looking ahead towards the noise of the battle, I saw Darius leave slash marks on the demon's entire body as black blood spilled out.

I heard a loud wailing on the side. My head snapped towards the human child who was crying on his knees. I quickly teleported next to him and hid his body under mine as I covered us with my cape. The blood spilled everywhere and slowly started disintegrating into thin air.

"You are here!" Darius looked at me with red glowing eyes.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Good job! Next time, make sure there is no human next to you when you do it." I gave him a tip, mind linking him.

After seeing no threat, I uncovered the cape covering us. The little boy had his eyes closed the entire time, crying badly.

I reached out to wipe his tears with my gloves gently. His eyes looked up to see mine as I smiled at him. "You are safe now. Do not worry, child." His eyes sparkled as he hugged me again.

I patted his head, holding him, telling him that he was okay. After he calmed down, he wiped his tears with his hands and looked up at me again. "I want to be like you, brother." Those words touched my heart.

Warmly smiling at him, I patted his shoulder. "As much as I would love that, you should protect yourself first. When you grow older, you will also become stronger."

He nodded his head, smiling. "Yes, I will, brother!"

"My baby, where did you disappear?" A woman came rushing down the street, looking around hastily.

"Mama, I'm here!" The little boy waved at her as he got up and ran towards her, hugging her. His mother hugged him tightly with tears in her eyes. "I was so scared. My baby. Are you okay? Are you hurt? Shush, it's alright. Mama is here now."

She glanced at us and smiled through the tears, letting her child down. "Thank you very much for saving my child and us!"

Darius stood next to me as I got up. "Do not worry, ma'am. We only did our duty."

She still insisted on thanking us, which we ultimately accepted.

We then ran away from there as people started slowly coming out of their houses and returning to their own homes, leading to a crowd. We watched as the little boy and his mother waved at us in the distance.

I smiled back at them. It reminded me of my parents back in my world. I was a little sad to know that they couldn't be with us, but I'm more than glad to know that they were safe. Besides, I doubt they would care about us. They, too, were always busy, in fact, too busy to even check up on their only child.

"Let's go home, Orion!" Darius whispered, making me grin at him.

"Our family is also waiting for us." I replied as he nodded.

We reported to the headmaster and were up in our room in no time.

Thankfully, Mason and Lila were still asleep, hugging each other, so adorable! This time, Darius got to see them together as well. He smiled at the scene like me. I was totally going to tease them about it tomorrow. In fact, I couldn't wait for it. Octavius, too, was asleep on the other side.

Darius and I quickly showered and wore a new set of clothes. I then cuddled up next to Lila and Mason, wrapping my arm around them, I fell asleep in a soft slumber. Breathing in my mates' scent helped me calm down.

I love them so much!

Wait, love?
