Pov Elena:
Elena was sitting in her room, reflecting on the conversation she had had with Illios. Although he seemed to accept the idea of having children quickly, Elena knew her brother was a pragmatic man and would need more reasons to make such an important decision.
[The potential of Illios is hereditary. Having children is the best option to strengthen the Immortal World and fulfill the mission assigned by the Celestial Dao], suggested the system when the mission appeared. Elena knew the system was using her to somehow restrict Illios.
"Hey system, why don't you just remove his points or delete him directly instead of trying to scheme?" asked Elena, frustrated. She couldn't understand why a system, an entity that could literally make things out of nothing, couldn't do such a simple job as deleting an individual.
A few seconds passed and the system responded:
[Host, I cannot do that. My programming prevents me from directly interfering in the lives and actions of participants in the universal war. My purpose is to provide information and support, but I cannot violate the universal laws established by the records of reality].
"If you can't delete him, why don't you give many points to more hosts and give them the mission to eliminate him?" Elena thought.
[Creating small problems to deal with a big one does not guarantee a solution. It only creates more problems], the system responded.
Elena sighed. "If Illios doesn't suspect you, he must really have a problem in his head," she analyzed. He would have suspected that something was wrong with the system from the moment he didn't tell him that his twin was another host.
Unlike Illios, Elena received an additional mission in addition to the main mission of the Immortal World:
[Universal System Mission: The Supreme Universal System has detected that the host Illios has obtained a large amount of universal points in a rather cheating way.
Introduction: The Supreme Universal System has analyzed the activity of the host Illios and concluded that he has obtained a large amount of universal points in a cheating way. This activity puts the competition of the universe in danger and therefore we must take measures to prevent future violations.
Completion conditions: Illios must be indirectly informed and given advice to avoid future violations.
Failure conditions: If Illios continues his wasteful activity and begins to indiscriminately eliminate participants in the universal war.
Completion reward: The resources obtained by staying by the offender's side are turned a blind eye to.
Failure: The host Elena will be expelled from the competition of the universe.]
"System, why don't you just remove Illios' points for his cheating behavior? Why just monitor him?" Elena asked curiously.
[Host, my programming prevents me from directly interfering in the lives and actions of participants in the universal war. My purpose is to provide information and support, but I cannot violate the universal laws established by the records of reality].
Elena crossed her arms and frowned. "So, you're telling me you can't do anything else but monitor Illios?"
The system responded.
[That's correct, Host. My programming prevents me from directly interfering in the lives and actions of participants in the universal war. My purpose is to provide information and support, but I cannot violate the universal laws established by the records of reality].
Elena sighed. "I understand that, but isn't there something you can do to prevent Illios from abusing his points and eliminating other participants?"
The system responded after a moment of silence.
[Please note that, although the way Illios obtained the points is legal, the system is not satisfied with his behavior. Therefore, it is important to monitor him closely to prevent him from causing harm to other participants in the universal war. ]
Elena furrowed her brow even more. "It seems like a silly measure for an almost omnipotent system."
[I understand your concern, host. But we must follow the rules and ensure that the competition is fair for all participants. We cannot allow someone to abuse their power to gain an advantage over others.]
After the system's response, Elena felt a little uncomfortable and decided to ask directly:
"Do you want me to betray Illios in the future?"
The system responded with calm and measured writing:
[No, it is not my intention. My role is to provide information and support to assist you in your missions. But if a situation arises where it is necessary, I would expect you to make the right decision to fulfill your objectives.]
Elena nodded, but still felt a little uneasy. She knew that the system had an important role in her missions, but she also understood that she had to make difficult decisions sometimes. She decided to put that topic aside for the moment and focus on the current task of strengthening the Immortal World.
"I remember that in the north of the empire, the Phoenix Ice Sect is going through a difficult time due to the low birth rate among its disciples with the Ice Phoenix bloodline. Maybe we could get some of them to help us. Also, Illios technically has good genetics, not only for being an Imperial Prince but also for possessing the Phoenix bloodline. He could be a good stud to increase the birth rate of the sect." Elena carefully analyzed the situation.
---------
As Elena prepared for bed, she didn't feel like draining Illios' energy today after what had happened. Suddenly, something appeared and gave her an ominous feeling.
[ The system receives a request from the Celestial Dao of the Immortal World ]
[ The system is analyzing how viable the request is... ]
[ ... ]
[ ... ]
[ ... ]
"What's happening?" for some reason, Elena didn't feel good seeing these pop-ups.
That was when...
[ The system has analyzed the possibility and concluded that the request is viable ]
[ The system is generating the mission... ]
[Immortal World Mission (Firstborn): The Celestial Dao of the Immortal World has detected that you possess extremely strong qualities.
Introduction: The Celestial Dao has analyzed your bloodline and concluded that the child born of you two (Illios and Elena) will be a very powerful and valuable being for this immortal world.
Completion conditions: You must obtain Illios' firstborn and ensure that he is under your protection and care until he reaches adulthood and can protect himself.
Failure conditions: If Illios' firstborn dies, is kidnapped, or is not under your protection and care until he reaches adulthood and can protect himself.
Completion reward: Unlocking functions when the first system event is launched, the host will have a powerful ally (their own child) and can assist in future system events.
Failure: If you fail your mission, you will be severely punished and prohibited from performing future missions of the Celestial Dao of the Immortal World.]
Elena frowned at the system's threat.
"What do you mean the Celestial Dao will be displeased with me if I don't have children with Illios?" she asked.
[ The success of the Immortal World mission is of importance to the Celestial Dao. If you don't do everything in your power to fulfill the mission, the Celestial Dao may take drastic measures ], explained the system in a threatening tone.
Elena felt trapped and frustrated. She knew the mission was important and that Illios had great potential that should be passed down through his offspring, but she wasn't sure she was ready to be the incubator.
"Illios is definitely the fattest cow in the universe, so maybe it's not so bad," Elena brainwashed herself, thinking about how many foxes would even give Illios ten children to secure a place by his side.
"Okay, I'll do it," she finally said reluctantly.
[ Excellent decision, Host. I am sure you won't regret it ], the system responded with a note of satisfaction.
Elena felt uncomfortable and angry. She knew the system was right, but she didn't like feeling forced to do something she wasn't sure she wanted to do. She took a deep breath and prepared for what was to come.
-----------
As Elena prepared to be the first to give birth to Illios' children, he thought in his heart, "There is definitely something wrong with the system."
There are many tests that prove it, and the most obvious is the way the system did not warn him that Elena was a host, and instead he himself inseminated her in her mother's womb.
"Also, Elena's solution was suspiciously quick."
The idea of having children is obviously provided by the system, and such a quick response cannot be conceived in just a few minutes, perhaps in a few hours or even days, but not in 5 minutes.
"The question is: What does the system want to do with me or why did it suggest that I have children?" Illios suspects that Elena is a spy that the system put around him for an unknown purpose.
"There must be a reason why the system cannot take away my points."
This is interesting because in some games when you cheat, the system detects the cheat in abnormal spending, which clearly indicates to the server that something is wrong with that account. Therefore, Illios speculates that as long as he doesn't spend extremely large sums of points indiscriminately, the system will have no excuses to intervene.
"That's why I haven't had much contact with the System interface, nothing more than necessary," Illios concluded some time ago.
"Even if Elena is a spy who wants to manipulate me, I won't do anything until it's serious."
A game is fun because it poses a challenge or has an interesting plot. When Illios got all those points, it pretty much took half the difficulty out of fighting for the universe.
"Anyway, money can fix that, I'd like to see what he has planned."
Illios thought. In fact, his own instincts didn't react much to this idea, as if he didn't have to worry at all.
