Priscilla recognized her mother's voice, her stomach turning at the sudden turns of events. Hr mother being there was something never crossed her mind.
Before she could decide whether to open the door or not, her mother continued.
"I knew better than to believe I was going to love you one day, and I certainly didn't get my hopes high on marrying a loving husband." Her voice was shaking, clearly distraught with the whole situation; something that caught Priscilla off guard. "But you have proved along the years that even the least of my expectations are too high for you."
"Cut to the chase, Helen." Byron's voice sound deep, almost wild on the other side.
She remained silent for a few second before finally answering. "I want the divorce."
Byron's sharp, chilling laugh startled Priscilla, who could not control the shiver running down her spine.
