Frank arrived at the base, seeing only Leticia around, dozing off on the steps. He said nothing, only laying sitting down elsewhere, closing his eyes. Time seemed to be moving quickly because not long after, Shiro, Pop and Jake entered, all muttering about their luck. It was when Frank checked his phone that he realized he'd been asleep for a very long while.
"Hey Frank." Jake called.
"What?"
"Did you know that daemon could teleport?"
"So you guys met it huh?"
"Many hands and weird lower body?"
"That's the one."
"Had a run in with it two weeks ago. Didn't go well."
"Yeah, so did we." Shiro said, "It tore right through an entire block. Its probably going to be on the news on how we messed up."
"I'm not to bothered about that," Pop said, "Anyone who was there would be happy they were alive."
"Pop really underestimates the news," Leticia said, waking up.
"Yes he does."
"I always look on the bright side of things." Pop said proudly.
"Ah, yes. Optimism. Very good."
All five inquisitors turned to the voice that spoke. The middle aged man smiled, giving a low bow.
"Dr. Victor Vott, at your service."
"What do you want?" Jake asked, readying his blades.
"Oh, I mean you no harm. Honestly. I am only here to see Mr. Diego, that is all."
"Prime's busy." Leticia said, standing up, "book an appointment next time."
"I'm afraid I'm pressed for time, you see. It, however, won't take long."
"Why the hell would we allow someone with a hollow to walk up to a Prime? What do you take us for?" Frank said.
Dr. Vott smiled. Inquisitors. They were quick to always spot out the slightest slip up in any thing a person did. Could he blame them? The past weeks hadn't been to kind to them. Ah well. He'd have to this the hard way.
"Hah." Dr. Vott sighed. He snapped his fingers and immediately a black spots in the shape of doorways sprouted from behind him, three in number. Out of it came men and women dressed in white with an black anchor as a crest. A large man dressed in a sleeveless white tank top and black trousers stepped out after the fifth member, fixing his cool shades.
"Finally, time to let out some steam!" The man, Momota, exclaimed.
By now all the inquisitor were already on their feet, weapons drawn.
"C'mon, at least just one drink." Elizabeth said.
"No." Martha replied.
"For old times sake?'
"No."
"Not a teensy bit?"
"You're drunk Elizabeth."
"Oh, c'mon…I'm not that drunk."
Martha turned to Margaret who stood still. The latter looked back and shrugged.
"Can we cut to the chase, Liz." Martha said. "I have other duties to attend to."
"Well…sure. But what duties though. Is it to the inquisition…or is it to the Dark family?"
Martha grunted. As drunk as she was, or as drunk as she tried to pretend to be, she always managed to lock in whoever she felt like. It was probably a thing that ran in the family.
"That doesn't matter to you."
"Unfortunately…it does…" Elizabeth said, pouring herself another glass. "You see…since you are free…you now no longer have to obey the shield. H…However…you…you're now part of the Great families again…again. Which means."
"Every action I do has weight. I get it. Can you drop the act now."
Elizabeth eyed the bottle and frowned. "Yeah I think you're right." She said as she swiped the bottle away, a crash emanating from where it dropped.
"You do get the point I'm trying to make right?"
"You don't have to tell me twice."
"I do. Because I do not think you understand, Martha. Kyler's been busy lately."
"He's always busy."
"No. He's been really busy. So is Jacques Ives."
Martha looked at her for a while, trying to make sense of what she meant. They were always busy. Roaming around doing whatever the hell they felt like…but never together.
Elisabeth smiled as it dawned on Martha.
"There's a lot more that we need to discuss…"
A white flashing light on her desk caught her attention. She frowned, pressing a few other buttons.
"What."
"A person of interest just entered the city. Very dangerous. But the information should be wrong. It can't be…"
Elizabeth stood up, taking the phone on her desk and called someone. Margaret's face looked concerned.
"What does a white light mean?" Martha asked.
"Its reserved for people who are wanted across the globe. Especially reserved for licht users."
"Oh."
Elizabeth placed the phone down gently, turning to Martha.
"Martha…" She said, in a low voice that Martha hadn't heard Elizabeth use in a long time.
"I'm just saying, that isn't a perfect solution to the problem," Kyler said.
"Really," Jacquez said, so what do you propose then? Surely taking them out one by one isn't helping."
"Yeah, but the Cove? Sorry, I don't want to go there. Heck I don't think we're even allowed there."
"We just need to tell Prime Klaus. Besides, its Martha who's involved. He'll understand."
"Look, Jacques, they all hate us. And from what I heard, they hate me more than they hate you. Going there is like putting a target on out backs. Besides, we'll have to get Zhao involved."
"Or Blake."
"No."
"Yeah, thought so."
The loud sounds of sirens caught Jacques' attention. Kyler noticed, looking round.
"Did they find the body?" Kyler asked.
"They're Shield cars, Kyler. You make it seem like we've actually committed a crime."
"But we did kill someone."
The couple standing close to Kyler began to walk away quickly in horror. A shield car stopped right in front of them, two shield agents stepping out to meet them.
"I'm innocent." Kyler said playfully.
"Dammit Kyler." Jacques groaned
"My name's Timothy," One of them said, "we have great need of your service."
"Beat it, kid, we don't work with the Shield."
"Colonel Elizabeth Lionharte said I should inform you that Luke Dark as resurfaced." Timothy said, "She said that you specifically need to be at the scene. Martha Dark is already on her way."
Kyler's expression slowly changed from confusion to fear.
"Hold on… I thought Luke died." Jacques asked
"Yeah…um…about that…" Kyler said, a guilty smile forming on his face as he scratched his head. Jacques looked at Kyler in shock.
"What?!"
"The House of Ragnarok rescued him, and I bumped into him during a mission, Barry bumped into him, Sakura bumped into him…yeah."
"And did you tell Martha?"
"N…no."
"He told you not to tell her."
"It…it was my decision to make… we don't have time for this lets go." Kyler said, hopping into the car. Jacques was about to go when the other shield agent stopped him.
"What the.."
"There's been some citing of individuals in white around the Inquisition base. It'd be wise if you went immediately."
Jacques looked at him and back at Kyler. Kyler shook his head, also unaware of the entire situation.
"Au revoir then." Jacques said, closing the door. The car sped off as its sirens wailed into the far distance. He watched it disappear before turning around and trotting back to the base. He crossed the road, turning into a corner and heading to the other street.
He never made it.
A wall of water pushed Jacques back onto the road, taking him by surprise. Jacques shook his head, standing up to his feet.
"They said you were being punished for all your crimes." The culprit said, stepping onto the street. He wore a white sleeveless suit and black trousers, with blond hair and crystal green eyes than seemed to glow red. "But seeing you here laughing just sickens me."
"Who the hell are you?"
The boy glared at him.
"You don't need to know."
