The entire street was abandoned, save for the shield cars that barred every exit out of the intersection. Kyler got out, heading towards the center, were Elizabeth, Margaret and Martha stood. In front of them stood a pillar of fire with a figure standing in its center, his face obscured.
"Um…hi."
"I thought you said we could trust the House of Ragnarok?" Elizabeth asked Kyler.
"I thought they were your friends." Kyler responded.
"This isn't the time for this," Martha said, stepping forward. Let's handle this and be on with this."
"Martha wait." Kyler said, reaching out for her hand.
"You lied to me, Kyler."
Kyler bowed his head. "Yeah I know."
Martha said nothing, but only clenched her fist till they turned white.
"We'll talk after this."
The flames slowly became a rich blue as Martha got closer. When she was directly in front of it, the flame disappeared, revealing the figure in the flames. With the exception of the mask he wore and the scars on his body, Luke looked exactly as Martha had imagined he would look. And it brought tears to her brother.
"Martha." He said, softly. Hearing her name being mentioned by her brother brought a sense of relief and joy, with a mixture of tears, in Martha.
"Luke." She smiled.
Without warning, a blue flame engulfed the two of them, separating them from the rest of the crowd.
"Martha!" Kyler cried, but was forced to step back as the heat was too unbearable.
"I want all teams in position now!" Elizabeth cried, "Timothy, Gillian, send a team to patrol, now. The Inquisition is already being attacked, who knows where else they could be."
"What about Martha." Margaret asked.
"Worry about her later. Get in position."
"Yes. Get into position. So says the king to his peasants." A voice said.
Guns and weapons pointed at the figures that appeared out of nowhere, adjacent the flame. Kyler stood up turning to face the new target.
"Our quarrel is not with you, Shield woman," the leader of the two said. She had long black hair and she wore a long white sleeves with two swords around her waste. . The other one was younger than the woman, wearing a button white shirt and black trousers, his green hair combed back.
"Our quarrel is with Kyler Tason, no, Joseph."
Kyler smiled, though a little pissed. A black barrier pushed the other shield agents back, taking them by surprise.
"Be careful of his rei." The woman spoke, "His rei only works if you don't notice its effects. Its illusion based, affecting all the five senses. It can't alter them, just create something that you'd react to like a red paint on your skin, or a foul smell. If you don't notice it then the rei activates, punishing you with a slash. Oh, and the more obvious the illusion, the more fatal the wound…I've summarized it well, right, Joseph."
The smile faded off Kyler's face as he removed his hoodie, drawing a short blade from his back.
"You sure did." Kyler said, his voice filled with rage.
Sarah had lived in this city her entire life. Having explored from the sewers to the highest buildings. Yet today, she was lost.
To be more accurate she had gotten separated from Brandon. Which was weird, considering he and Dean had been right in front of her. Ah well, she was growing tired of their constant arguing. Queens had also decided to leave. Saying he was going to HQ or something like that. He actually was from HQ. He only transferred here recently and stayed due to his injuries.
Her stomach growled, making her wince. Her long game with Brandon had made her skip lunch. She'll buy the food, but the bill was on him. She was not going to let that slide.
As she was about to turn the corner, she bumped into a boy her age. The boy took a step back, looking at her in surprise.
"An inquisitor?" He said.
"Yeah, duh." Sarah said, "Haven't seen one before?"
"No, its just that I thought…nevermind."
Sarah watched as he walked away. He had black hair and red eyes and he wore a white long sleeves shirt and black tight pants. It was when his back was to her that she saw the symbol of ananchor with a skull.
"Hold it."
The boy stopped, turning to face her. "Yeah?"
"Your from the House of Ragnarok, right?"
"Yes. Is it a problem."
"What are you doing here?"
"You know, we can go wherever we want, right?"
"But there's nothing of interest to you here, is there?"
"You are wasting my time, lady."
"How's Dr. Vott and Spen Nikolai."
"You know them?"
"Came here about two months ago. Are they here."
The boy remained silent."
"They're here, aren't they?"
"Ah well, you were going to find out anyway. Yes Dr. Vott is here. Yes, we have an agenda."
"And what would that be?"
"To defeat the inquisition."
The hunger in Sarah's stomach disappeared. It annoyed Sarah, even more than Brandon did. She sighed, readying herself for combat.
"You're going to regret this." Sarah said.
"Why would I?" The boy said, "Can you defeat me?"
"And if I do,"
"Then you'd have the honor of defeating someone from the Alderwolf family.
"Huh?" Sarah eyes widened in shock.
"Oh, Blake didn't tell you?" the boy said, "My oh my, I'll have to let him no to introduce his family earlier. Well, its never to late though. The name's Koning Alderwolf. I'm his cousin twice removed."
