Chapter 79 - Lost Girl

Even the weather seemed to sympathize with her, as the heavy downpour of rain was a sign. Sarah had sat at the cafe for hours, rewatching the same clip over and over again, the half empty cup of soda lay on the table beside the untouched sandwich.

If there was anything she wanted to do, it'll be to take a long nap, forget about everything and drown herself in the rain or something. But no, Kyler insisted she take a walk. Now here she was, stuck in the cafe. The guy beside her had just finished playing a round of a war based game, she didn't know what it was called but it seemed nice. She looked at it long and hard and finally decided to play it on her pc.

She ended up being first. She stretched before letting out a sigh, logging off the pc. Popping her knuckles, she stood up to leave only to see a familiar face behind one of the pc.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him. Pop jumped up in his seat, confused. He calmed down, recognizing Sarah and letting out a sigh.

"Don't do that." Pop cried, "You made me lose my match."

"Sucks to be you, you lost already."

"Hey, its not like you know how it went down."

Sarah remained silent as she casually pointed at the first person on the rankings. Pop looked at it for a long while and slowly turned to her.

"Stoneyedge215?"

Sarah nodded.

"But...that was...no way." Pop exclaimed, "For the past two years, it was you all along?"

"Yeah." Sarah smiled, "A girl's gotta have a hobby."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. What are you doing all the way here though? You could have used a pc back home."

"Well, Kyler said I should go take a walk."

"He was trying to get you to find me, I guess." Pop said.

"Yeah, what are you doing back in Boston?"

"Urgent call from Kyler, don't know why but all inquisitors are being recalled."

"Huh." Sarah said. Pop stood up to his feet and stretched.

"I hear a lot of interesting things happened while Leti and I were away." Pop said, "Must be nice."

"Yeah...nice." Sarah said as the two exited the building into the rain.

"Got an umbrella?" Pop asked.

"No. Do you?"

"How was I supposed to know that it was going to rain." Pop said as he snapped his fingers. Instantly a bubble surrounded the two of them, and the two made their way back to base.

"Y'know, I also heard what happened to your sister." Pop said, "Sorry, kid."

"Sure. News travels fast." Sarah sighed. "Forget about it."

"Yeah, but have you forgotten about it? No."

"She was my sister."

"And she was our friend. She can't be so easily forgotten like a mere passing memory."

"So what do you want me to do? Huh? Live in the moment? Be a crybaby every single day? We move on and focus on the task at hand. That's what we did when Barry and Aaron died, and that's what I'm doing."

"No, that's what you're trying to convince yourself to be doing. You haven't left your sister behind. You're still clinging on to the hope that she will one day show up." Pop signed scratching his head. Although they could barely see, the base was in sight.

"Look, i may not know much about loss or whatever, I'm only here for the money. But its going to take a while to get over death. Don't lie to yourself in trying to do that. It will cost you one day."

The two arrived to see a big muscular man sitting outside. He was at least 6.5ft with dark skin and black hair. He puffed out smoke, looking at Pop and sighed.

"Who the hell are you?" He asked, his deep voice intimidating.

"I should be asking you that question." Pop asked.

He groaned. "Sven. You are?"

"Its Pop and Sarah."

"Which one's Pop and which one is Sarah?"

"I'm Sarah, duh." Sarah said, annoyed. What was with this interrogation all of a sudden. Just then a woman stepped out, patting him on the shoulder.

"That's enough Sven." She said, "They are here."

"You sure?" He asked. She nodded, and the man stood to his feet and walked back inside.

"What was that about." Sarah asked.

"Oh, he's my guy." She said. "He gets a bit angsty sometimes."

"He's your guy, as in your teammate?"

Pop sighed. "This is Cass. She is the ganglord of the Skullbashers, one of the biggest gangs in Canada. Ever wonder why we aren't assigned there, she's the reason. She has an army of gangsters who run the place."

"Aww. Don't flatter me."

"Don't let her fool you, she is cruel." Pop said, deactivating his bubble. "Don't ever try to get on her bad side."

Cass pushed him aside, placing her hands on Sarah's shoulders.

"When I heard of Rebecca's death, I didn't believe it, much less the fact she had a little sister."

"You...know my sister?"

"She was someone I really wanted as part of my gang. Very bright person. I loved her." She sighed, "Its a shame that the right people can't be brought to justice, but if you need anything, I'm always one call away." She placed a card in her hand. Sarah took and examined it.

"Th...thanks." She said, holding back her tears.
