How comes it is all coming back to me now, my granny's words, after all these forgotten years.
I will consider her an equivalent to all the realized sages I have encountered in most of my reading.
She had a logic of a peculiar kind, and her sounds, oh, how I love to hear her sweet melodies in the morning.
Ah! Sometimes she wakes up not with melodies, but wild tantrums that will force the neighbors to run into their houses, locking the doors in fright, while she dances in her tantrums and curses.
Good Lord, how she did curse, sing and cry till it all turn to laughter and madness.
Yet amidst all that, she is the most silent person I have ever known, who created a serene environment within which I was groomed.
And many things did I learn from her, the subtler and the most obvious.
Our world is her play ground where she put up her stage and demonstrate to us how truly insane our world is, but we pretend and bear it, thrive and survive…
and she love that in humans, our sacrifice in maintaining our sanity in a chaotic world….
So, she sacrifices to carry the suppress madness of man, to celebrate it, and bear our pain and misery. Yet, if you ask me about her, I will tell you she is not from around here, her world was actually rich and beautiful.
Glimpses into this world, had been source of my solace, the very breath that nurture me to full bloom.
I am here with her now, "go back now my boy, for your flame is dancing and ever burning…" granny said and suddenly I found myself falling into nothingness.
********†**†********
"his fingers are moving" a voice said happily. "go get the doctor Ruby" another voice said…
I heard voices from a faraway place, and I was falling fast towards these voices. I couldn't distinguish one the other.
"he is coming around" a male voice said. "doctor can I speak to him now, it will probably boost his memory" Ruby's voice echoes distinctly in my mind as I arrived to the surface of consciousness, but on hearing her say that I kept my eyes close, curious to hear what she wanted to tell me in my presumed unconscious state…
I felt a warm soft kiss on my forehead and ears, followed by a soft sensuous voice I know so well;
"come to me baby, it is I Ruby, your bad gal… Ziggy and the rest are here spooky."
Demm the woman kuga, "yeah, she probably heard Ziggy and the boys called me spooky".
I open my eyes slowly, and the first face I saw took my breath away. Had the doctor known the effects this woman had on me he wouldn't have let her anywhere closer to me.
her puffy sensuous face told me she did been crying a lot… and my heart reach out to her but I couldn't speak as the tubes connect to my mouth and nostrils.
I felt my flaccid penis throb feebly, when I gaze into the eyes of that one woman I know could end my life.
All gratitude and praises to the exalted, the supreme. I am alive and it's a miracle. I can't wait to get this tubes off me, so I could greedily drink from the Tao.
"hey Ziggy, heard my baby boy is back with us…." Freda's voice resonates in the clustered space. "please leave now and let me attend to the patient".
Ruby came forward and place a kiss on my forehead, "we will be waiting outside". She said.
"give me way let me see him at least" Freeda said pushing her way through the rest who were now filing out the ward.
The doc tries to stop her, but she pushed him to one side, gently.
"oh my sweet boy, look at you, come to momma" she said and hug me on the bed, and peg me on the chick. I saw Ruby stare back at her strangely from the door way.
"don't worry now, momma is here, but let me give the good doc his chance now, get well spooky."
"you have a lot friends Mr.… kuga" the doctor said over the rim of his glasses as he looks down at my file and back at me.
we were now the only two people in the ward, and he got to work.
I was discharged the next day, and Ruby insisted I lived at their place, closer to Rabwa Clinic two miles away.
my medical bills was covered by veto proprietor benevolence. It turned out they owned the clinic.
"I have your house fixed, but you can't go there now, you will be staying at my place till you are fully recovered, that way we can called on the doc anytime". She said with finality.
I have a thousand objections, but I was playing dumb like, good old me. back to being the silent kuga, who only observe and learn.
They brought a wheel chair but I refuse to sit on it. I stood up and tested my rigid feet, it felt wobbly with my weight on it. I pressed on with the support of Ruby as a yardstick.
Diana was waiting outside when we walked out. she got of the car, and put on her sunglasses as she walked upto us.
I, Ruby, and her mother.
She threw herself into my hands, and I wrapped my arms around her.
"get well okay, we have work to do?" she said, and I smiled down at her and nodded.
"thanks Ruby, for saving this nutty boy", Diana said and all three women laughed. Diana walked back to her car waving as she drove away.
Ruby helped me into the back seat of the charcoal black BMW latest model, parked five yards away.
we pulled into the yard, ten minutes later. glamorous and daintily arrayed exotic flowers and herbs, seduced me to like the place in one sweeping glance.
What exactly is Ruby doing at wodmax pushing papers? From the look of things, she didn't need the salary.
The wide expanse of the grounds looks Shady and cold even in the noon sun.
The elegance of the interior was another matter. The place drip with money. These folks definitely have find taste. No, this is not a place of a retired teacher who owns a hospital.
I was instantly curious about this family, and my silent observations serve me better than any questions would.
In fact, I was hiding my toothless mouth. I go by gestures now, and Ruby observed me strangely as I drew a distance between us.
She can't know. The thought was scary enough to keep me indoors in the cozy room upstairs all day. I spent most of my time reading and writing lyrics, poetry and rap.
Ruby, will hear me singing and whistling in the room. yet, when she speaks to me I go by gestures. If she calls me on the phone we talk alright, but I was careful to debunk talk of anything that will give off a romantic vibe.
The tension only builds up, and her mother find me so weird, I found her fidgeting on her seat couple of times in my presence at breakfast and dinner.
It wasn't fare, I have to leave this place, but they wouldn't allow that either.
Diana was calling as I was humming and writing a rap for this new dope drill sound produced by @99makaveli on tiktok…. Lyrics: well spoken, Doesn't mean, God chosen, not God closers…
"hello Diana". "hi Kuga, how are you doing?". "…confine and homely, but I am enjoying every bit of it. hey… umm, look I am sorry for the other day." "forget it kuga, I am fine. I have learnt my lesson."
"no hard feelings?". "clean slate kuga. Hell of a message you send to me though," she said and chuckled.
"mocking me now, as pay off?". "maybe. Depends on how you want to look at it".
"okay, we are square then."
"not even close boy. Not until I did to you what you did to me." "oh, missed me already, err Diana." "you are such a smug, kuga". "an honest smug, lady."
"I have been worried about you, yet here you are being same old kuga. Are you living with her now?". "who?". "you know who?". "yeah, I am living with her."
"when will you be going back home. we have a lot of things to discuss about work, things we can't talk on phone."
"is that why you wanted me at you place?". "that, and something else Kuga."
"I don't like the way you sound lady. Tell me what is going on." "I can't, lets meet as soon as you get back home okay." "okay."
"have you talk to the detectives yet?". "at the hospital, about the robbery? yeah, I've spoken to them"
"and nothing else?" she asked. "is there something else, to tell them?".
"oh no…umm, what about the hemorrhage?". "what about it? where did you hear that?". "I came to the hospital to see you when you were on coma, and I head the doc mentioned it."
"I am advice not to over task my brain with strenuous work or activity. That's why I am here taking sometime out. Look, can we talk later?".
"sure, sorry I stress you out." "am good Diana."
She clicked off, and a nagging thought begun to crystalized in my mind, but I kicked it aside.
I didn't want to think about these things. I may suffer another attack.
Right that instant Ruby knocked on the door and came in, "I heard you speaking to someone on the phone, yet you refuse to communicate, what is going on kuga?".
I patted the side of the bed beside me.
She came and sat beside me and we clasped and locked hands. I rob my palm over her smooth skin as we simply stared into each other's eyes.
She leans on me, and placed her head on my shoulders, wiping at her eyes silently. Is she crying, why is she crying…
I held her closer to me but it only made her begin to sob. What is going on hear? She broke free from me as I reach out for her, and run out of the room. I heard her slam the door to her room adjacent mine, bolting it from inside.
What is going on? I have to get out of this place.
