Derek was struggling to find any purpose in the chaos around him. He had lost his family, friends, and everyone he cared for.
Eventually, he could no longer bear the situation and decided to end his miserable life.
After taking the poison in a hotel room, Derek felt himself slipping away. He blacked out for a moment before regaining consciousness.
"Finally, I'm free," he thought to himself, " Am I going to hell though? I wasn't Muslim or even a Christian. Well, I hope not."
A moment of silence followed before he realized that he was not losing his consciousness. He was still conscious, and everything around him was dark and unknown. Derek couldn't feel or see anything, he was in a strange state of being.
"What the hell is happening!!" Derek inwardly cursed ."Even in death you will not let me go!!! endless wrath threatened to erupt from his soul, but no matter how angry he was he couldn't change his situation.
He felt like he was floating, the only thing he could do was think as he drifted in this unknown void.
"I can't endure this forever; is there no afterlife? I chose to escape my reality, but now ilook at this! This is so frustrating!
And just like that , weeks turned into months, and months turned into years, but he remained in the same situation. He struggled to keep his sanity intact. Every second, minute, and hour drowned him in loneliness, leaving him on the verge of losing his mind. However, his will to survive was tenacious, and he persevered.
He didn't know why he wanted to stay alive or at least sane in this unknown place, but he continued to count numbers in his mind never stopping for a minute, hoping that it would somehow help him stay connected to reality. He didn't know how long he had been counting or how he was able to do it without becoming bored or distracted. All these questions plagued his soul, stirring it from its numb state.
The void that surrounded him was both comforting and suffocating at the same time. He was lost in a world of nothingness, devoid of any sensation.
Suddenly he heard a clear sound near him, and at the same time he could feel that he has a body now, but a very weak one, he could barely move.
"Congratulations, my lady, it's a perfectly healthy boy," an old lady said with a smile on her face.
" 15,768,000,000, 15,768,000,001, 15,768,000,002- WHATT !!"
Derek was still confused about his situation. As a cry escaped his mouth uncontrollably "Im back HAHAHAH !! im so damn happy!! finally i escaped that hell. five hundred years!! FIVE FUCKING HUNDRED YEARS!!
"Give him to me, Melissa," a soothing and gentle voice instructed the old lady.
"Right away, my lady," said Melissa, as she carefully picked him up and put him in the warm embrace of his mother.
With stunning blue eyes, Emilia looked at him with a loving gaze capable of melting any man's heart. Her dark blue hair swayed as she moved her head, filled with sweat. Despite her sorry state, she seemed so happy.
"Wow, a human!" Derek thought as he barely looked at her. She was truly a beautiful woman.
Still he never felt as happier in his whole life as this moment, the pure joy of seeing an individual of the same specie overwhelmed his mind, he was now definitely sure that he escaped that terrifying abyss.
"Hellooo, my handsome little prince. You're the most stunning thing I have ever laid eyes on. I can hardly believe that I brought you into this world.
coos..." A sound escaped from him.
" Look at those delicate little fingers and toes. look at his eyes, so bright and inquisitive. he is already showing such a curious and alert personality." his mother gawked at him as she said .
Derek looked at his surroundings and took a deep breath in, he never been so grateful in his life as this moment, he was so delighted by the fact that he was alive and existing.
"He has his father's eyes. Look at him, he's so cute," Emilia said as she pinched his nose slightly.
With his innocent red eyes, Derek looked really unique.
Derek and his mother were in the centerpiece of the room, where a massive four-poster bed, complete with silk sheets, plush pillows, and a canopy embroidered with gold thread, was positioned.
On the other side of the room to their left, a large fireplace was crackling and popping, casting flickering shadows across the room. The mantle above it was adorned with gilded candlesticks and ornate statuettes, while the hearth below was lined with polished brass.
This place was truly peculiar and unfamiliar, evoking a sense of medieval charm. As he surveyed the room, Derek couldn't help but ponder, "Where am I though? Have I been transported back in time, or have I entered a different realm altogether?
Moments later, Derek was overcome by fatigue, struggling to keep his eyes open. "Is the act of thinking wearing me out?" he mused, before surrendering to sleep and drifting off into the realm of dreams.
...
A week had passed, and Derek found himself leading a monotonous existence, with nothing to do but eat, sleep, and tend to his bodily needs. still he was extremely content with his new life. Strangely enough, he seemed to comprehend the language of the natives of this world. Through careful observation, he had deduced that this place was not his original world, because they did not rely on electricity but instead wielded the power of magic. He had witnessed the maids conjuring fire and water out of thin air as well as summoning winds and many more.
He was utterly flabbergasted, to witness that sight, I mean magic, true magic. Would the inhabitants of this world be capable of flying, maybe creating flames to engulf entire cities, or even creating floods? He was thrilled at the thought . he was still too young and his physical limitations prevented him from taking action, and so he resorted to observing and absorbing as much information as possible.
At the very least, he was no longer as helpless as he had been in his previous life. He didn't want to experience that same feeling of helplessness again, nor did he want to relive the same pain. The feeling of hatred that had taken root in his heart had never dissipated, and all he could think about was how to become stronger.
According to what he had heard, he was the scion of a very powerful family. He had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, surrounded by people who were willing to serve his every whim, and given the opportunity that many would die for.
In reality, however, this world was incredibly cruel. The nobility mostly took advantage of the peasants, treating them worse than animals. They had no rights and were constantly oppressed by arrogant nobles who considered themselves superior beings. They led truly miserable lives.
Watching the way his mother, father, and siblings treated their servants with such disdain and cruelty caused him to reevaluate his perspective on this world.
