The term conflict means different things depending on its usage. However, in our day to day lives, conflict may mean discord, hostility, argument, antagonism, strife, friction, disharmony or disunity between two or more people. According to Coser (1967), conflict refers to a struggle between two or more people over values, or competition over status, power and scarce resources. It is incompatibility between two or more parties whose goals ort interests are perceived to be in competition.

From the above definitions, conflict emerges as a force that tries to tear apart relationships between two or more people or parties who are in pursuit of a certain goal or interest.

Violence

These consist of actions, words, attitudes, structures or systems that cause physical, psychological, social or environmental damage and/or even prevent people from reaching their full potential.

War
