STARLIGHT HOSPITAL, SURGICAL ROOM 025

The air was tense, nothing could match up to it. Lin Ye stared at the open body on the table, it was a woman in her mid thirties. She was pale and the open place at her chest was visible to everyone, the heart was not beating.

Lin Ye continued to stare. All the scrub nurses inside the operation room looked lost, all hope gone.

Doctor Chu who was assisting Lin Ye sighed, "She is gone doctor, there is nothing else we can do..."

What he said was right. The patient had been brought in with severe Angina, her blood flow to the heart had stopped causing her lots of pain.

Lin Ye was the director of cardiothoracic surgery which meant that the surgery would be performed by her.

She took a few steps closer to the table and lowered her head to look at the still heart. There was nothing to see yet she continued to look anyway.

"Doctor Lin..." Doctor Chu started but Lin Ye stopped him and pointed towards a small area near the heart.

The blood vessels near there were bulging to the point of almost bursting.

Doctor Chu understood immediately! That was the only way to fix the problem, repair the blood vessels and then the blood flow would be restored!

The nurses had color back on their faces and responded when Lin Ye lifted her hands.

A soft voice fleeted then, "Scalpel..."

"Good job everyone..." Lin Ye said as she walked out of the surgical room. Small droplets of sweat had formed on her brow but luckily they had saved the patient.

She stared upwards and sighed, it had been a long day.

At Starlight Hospital, she was the youngest director and this had been a cause of envy and admiration from many and to make matters even more complicated, she was also very famous.

She walked ahead and spotted someone then stopped in her tracks, It was Han Shuoxi.

This was what was called enemies meeting on a narrow path

"Yo! If it isn't Mr. Han, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Lin Ye started mockingly.

Han Shuoxi was her ex-boyfriend. He had broken up with her after just a month of dating, it could be said that there was bad blood between the two of them.

But now that he was here, what did he want?

Han Shuoxi's eyes constricted, "Lin Ye even if we have broken up, is this the way to speak to me?"

Although she was still not aware of the reason why he had broken up with her, Lin Ye still felt hurt by the breakup. It was after all her first ever relationship.

Her eyes also constricted, "It was because we broke up that I speak this way to you, what the hell do you want from me?"

She zoomed past him and he followed briskly, "I want to give you something."

Lin Ye's heart tensed for some reason. She then looked at his extended hand that was holding a card.

Lin Ye took it and read. What was written on it shocked her to the core, it was a wedding invitation. Han Shuoxi was getting married.

Lin Ye stared at him in disbelief and before she could speak, Han Shuoxi spoke first, "Lin Ye, I know that I ended things abruptly but that was because I was still not sure about us"

Lin Ye stared at him and forced some words out, "If you were not sure then why did you ask me to be your girlfriend that time?"

Han Shuoxi had courted her for more than a year and when they got together, he broke up with her in less than a month, this was truly hard to accept!

Han Shuoxi looked guilty, "I know that things did not end well between us, I am sorry but I hope you can still be happy for me Lin Ye,"

Be happy for him? In his dreams!!

Lin Ye was dumbfounded, "I get it that you are getting married but why is it with Lin Xue?"

Lin Xue was her cousin!

Han Shuoxi looked tense, "Xiao Xue and I are in love, that is why I am marrying her."

In Love? What sort of joke was this?

"Are you sure it is not about her money?"

Han Shao xi looked angry, "Lin Ye"

Lin Xue was Lin Ye's cousin but it could be said that their two families never got along. Lin Ye's father and Lin Xue's father were brothers but one could see that the difference between the two of them was like heaven and earth.

Lin Xue's father was the head of Lin group, a multi-million company while Lin Ye's father was a casual worker at an unknown company. Faced between Lin Xue and Lin Ye, the choice was obvious and the reason more clear.

Lin Ye looked at him, "What are you shouting my name for? Am I not right? You are in love? Who are you trying to fool."

Han Shuoxi's face was heated, "Are you still sad that I left you, is that why you are thinking this way?"

Lin Ye laughed, "Up until now, I thought that we should have never broken up but right now...good riddance!"

"Lin Ye..." Han Shuoxi started but Lin Ye beat him to it

"Don't ever come looking for me for such stupid information, Han Shuoxi, from today onwards you and I have nothing to do with each other!"

Her tone was clear, Han Shuoxi could not speak. He wanted to but right there and then Lin Ye's phone rung, it was the reception,

The receptionist's voice was urgent, "Miss Lin, there is a TA victim being transferred to the hospital right now, his mental state is stupor and his BP is 70/50, he has a metal rod sticking from his chest the ambulance is on its way...Miss Lin you need to hurry down..."

Lin Ye rushed down the steps leaving Han Shuoxi hanging in the corridors.

The receptionist continued, "Before he fainted he asked to be specifically brought to you Doctor Lin..."

Lin Ye paused in her steps, "What?"

The receptionist repeated, "Doctor Lin, the patient asked to be treated by no one else but you..."
