I go in first when we get to Ross' room he beams at me. I put the bag on the side and start unpacking. I get out his joggers, pants and socks. I put his snacks on the side where he can reach them, I look over at him and he's smiling at me amused.
"Thanks guys this is perfect" he says.
I hand him his keys.
"Hey you wanna change? I can help I won't look I promise" I laugh.
He moves his legs over the side of the bed, it's not easy for him because of his thigh. He winces in pain and I hold his hand.
I don't look at the others I focus on getting him out of bed. He places his other hand in mine and I help him stand up.
"It really fucking hurts still" he says baring weight on his leg.
"I know, but you need to walk little and often to get used to it. You're coming to the gym with me when you're back at uni by the way" I laugh.
He snorts. I walk him over to the en-suite Matty is the other side of him keeping him steady. I'm holding his fresh clothes over my arm. I also brought his body wash. He lucked out having a shower in the en-suite.
I go in with him and place a towel on the side. Matty asks if I'm all good, it doesn't bother me. I would do this for any of my friends. I tell him I'm all good.
"I can do my arms" Ross says laughing. When I've closed the door over.
He pulls his shirt off and I look away. Now is not the time Taylor to remember how hot your friends are.
I help him out of his jeans not looking anywhere but the wall.
"It's okay I'll try my best taking them off in the shower" he says meaning his boxers.
"Okay I brought your shower stuff" I tell him.
"Thanks Tay. I appreciate it" he says.
I look at him briefly and laugh, he's literally the most naked I've ever seen him and we're in a hospital bathroom. He stares into my eyes and I pause for a minute.
I help him over to the shower and he manages fine from there. I go and stand in the doorway. I unlock it and talk to the others.
"Don't slip" Jay says.
"Otherwise I'll have to come and get you" he laughs winking at me.
"Let me know when your done and I'll pass you your towel" I laugh.
"This is so weird you guys being around when I shower." He laughs at us.
The shower gel smells nice just like Ross always does. Rach is going on about something on the TV, Jay is ignoring her.
Matty suggests they go and buy some lunch and bring it up, he asks me what I want and i ask him to surprise me. Rach follows him down, Jay stays behind "in case Ross falls over" he tells us. Matty is being so mature about everything. I appreciate him more than ever.
"What do you want Ross?" Matty asks calling into the en-suite.
"Can I get a sandwich" he laughs.
"We can do better than that" Matty laughs looking at Rach.
They head out and I smile at Jay. We sit silently for a while and I just relax. Being with Jay doesn't aggravate me anymore, like it used too.
"Okay I'm clean please can I have my towel, boxers and a shirt" Ross calls over to me.
"One sec" I say. I grab his stuff. And head over. I pass them through the shower door and he takes them from me. I keep my eyes looking forward and not at him anywhere.
"Thanks babe" he says.
I walk over and rest against the wall.
I don't look at him drying in the shower, I'm not a weirdo. He's gorgeous and not mine.
He steps out in his boxers and t shirt. He stumbles over to me and I meet him halfway not wanting him to fall over. Gosh he's a sight, I avert my eyes. I fight looking at him, I glance up at him quickly. I don't want to think about how perfect he is. I refuse.
"Hey, let me see your injury" I ask him changing tact.
I kneel down and gently touch his thigh.
It looks alright, its a deep cut and it will scar.
"They are re-wrapping it later" he says.
"They wanted it to breathe or some shit" he adds.
I stand up in front of him.
His hair is all wet and I smile at him.
"Thanks Taylor for everything you have been doing for me, you saved my life. I know that. I owe you fucking bad" he says.
"Anytime" I say softly. I grab his jogging bottoms. And help him into them.
"More comfortable than jeans right" I chuckle pulling them up his legs.
"I am gonna be able to walk proper again aren't I" he asks me out of the blue.
I look at him and a tear escapes his eyes.
"Yes Ross of course you are" I tell him wiping his eyes with my hands.
"I'm going to make sure of that babe" I tell him smiling.
"I miss you so much in here" he tells me. I step back slightly. Before I kiss him.
"Me too babe" I say and lead him out of the bathroom the last thing I need is Jay imagining shit out there. I help Ross over to the bed, Jay stands up and helps him onto the bed.
I sit down on the chair next to the bed. I grab the books out of the bag.
"I brought you this one and a few more." I tell him handing him Wuthering heights.
"You're going to have to let me borrow a book or two though soon" I laugh.
He turns to look at me.
"Of course" he looks at me in awe.
I have to look away because I want to kiss him and that is wrong I am in love with Matty. Not sure how I'm going to deal with my feelings. I feel like I'm going to have to switch them off completely. That's going to hurt.
"When did you last have pain killers" I ask Ross. He looks a little distracted like he's trying to not feel it.
"Not since like yesterday afternoon" he tells me.
"Ross you don't have to brave it out" I tell him.
I stand up and pop him some codeine from the side. I pass them over to him and he takes them. I brush his forehead.
"the pain killers keep the temperature down" I say smiling.
I go over to the window and stare out of it. It's still snowing heavily. We are definitely all getting a cab tonight I want Matty to drink and I don't want any of us driving. I watch the cars come and go for a while.
"Taylor" Ross says slightly woozily.
Co-codamol is fast and sometimes makes people delirious.
"Yes babe" I laugh.
"Thanks for being the best women in the whole fucking world" he chuckles.
"Ah shh." I laugh.
"Have some sleep" I advise him.
I go over to him and stroke his head, he closes his eyes. I run my hands through his hair. It's already mostly dry.
"I love you" he whispers and a few minutes later he's sleeping.
I glance up at Jay. Expecting a barrage of unnecessary comments.
"He does love you" he says softly. Looking at me intently again. What is going on with him?
"I know that" I admit. Sitting down quietly on my chair.
I close my eyes and recline my chair. I drift off to sleep myself.
When I wake up Matty is next to me.
"Hi, beautiful" he says chuckling.
"How long was I out for" I laugh.
"Couple hours" he replies.
"Jay is bringing Rach over later" he adds when he sees me looking around.
Ross is awake I notice and the others are gone.
"Here's a chicken wrap" Matty hands me my lunch.
It's not just a packaged supermarket one. But one they got from a stall.
I eat it, realising Im hungry. It tastes incredible.
Once I've finished, I ask Ross how he's feeling and he tells me he's just perfect. Codeine is still working I see. I make a mental note to ask the nurse to check he is actually taking his pain pills.
Just as I think that a nurse pops into the room.
"Right Ross we're going to check it and re-bandage" she says. She's an older lady with salt and pepper hair.
The nurse and doctor take a good look at it and explain that it's healing well.
After the doctor leaves the nurse continues to bandage him up.
"You should be out in a couple of days" she explains and I smile at him.
"Thanks" I tell her, "he also isn't taking his pain meds. I think he needs to be watched" I laugh to her.
She smiles.
"You must keep the pain at bay, and it will help with possible infection" she warns him.
When the nurse leaves. Ross needs more sleep. I stroke his hair back and tell him we're leaving now.
"Thanks for everything, both of you" he says.
I shh him and continue stroking his hair. I want him to fall asleep I don't really like thinking of him in here on his own not being able to sleep. He falls asleep easily and Matty and I head out.
