Chapter 38 - Do you not know Taylor

***Matty's POV***

It's still snowing outside. It's oddly peaceful. Nobody is walking about and disturbing it. I arrange a tow for the car online so it gets sent home for tomorrow.

I take a long pull on my cigarette. Looking up I see Jay eyeing me. Give me a break.

"You okay man" he asks. Not entirely what I was expecting.

"I'm all good just towing the car home." I tell him.

"Is she going to be okay" he asks. What does he want to know for?

"Not seen her that way before" he adds.

"I know. It was tough on her she found him alone and I think she thought he was a goner. I was on the phone to her. I just think she went into shock." I explain.

"I understand" he says softly.

I do a double take. "Are you okay man?" I ask him chuckling.

"What? I'm not a complete heartless bastard" he says.

I laugh.

"Thanks for coming. I just didn't wanna wake her up. I tried to get her a bed but they have a shortage" I tell him.

"You think she's got him talking yet?" He smiles.

"Well I guess we will see" I say.

How is it we're talking to each other nicely?

"She ugh is a very caring person" he says oddly.

"We'll don't give her too much credit!" I laugh sarcastically.

"No I just mean, the way she reacted to him in the hospital bed. And how she has been trying to get him to wake up" he says.

"Yes? Do you not know Taylor? At all? She hung up on me in the car and went looking for him putting herself in danger" I say.

"She's like that always has to do the right thing. Risks herself over stuff like that." I say. Is it coming across that I'm proud of her?

"She would even do it for you Jay" I laugh.

"It's fucking admirable." He says taking a last drag on his cigarette and then drop shooting it into an ash tray.

I shake my head and follow him in.

When we head upstairs we've brought a whole host of things from the hospital shops. I got her a chocolate bar and another drink. I imagine the smile she will give me when she sees it.

Jay goes in first and I hear talking. I smile. There's nothing my girl can't do.

Jay looks back at me smirking.

I head on in after him and she turns smiling. Clearly proud of herself. She walks over to me and hugs me. I feel so secure with her. She always makes sure I feel loved. She's incredible. I whisper in her ear.

"You're incredible and I got you a chocolate bar" I smirk.

"Thank you" she smiles the smile that I knew I would see on her face.

I sit back down on the chair. I nod at Ross.

"Glad you're back with us brother" I tell him.

"I'll text your mum now" I add. Ross smiles at me.

"What did you say then" Jay asks Taylor.

"She was telling me awful jokes" Ross laughs.

"Hey you did laugh at some of them." She teases.

She sits down next to me. I place my hand on her thigh. She smirks. She extends her recliner to lay down.

"I brought you a shirt if you wanna change by the way" I pass her the bag. Her eyes light up.

"Perfect" she says heading into the bathroom.

She appears a few seconds later in her favourite button up shirt of mine. And her new slippers. I do really care don't I?

She kisses me and then sits back down on the chair next to me.

"You got my tooth brush too" she smiles.

"Well yeah I was waiting for the cab thinking what should I bring? Did I do good" I ask sweetly.

"Perfect as always" she laughs.

She lays down on the chair on her side facing me. I can't not look at her. She's literally been crying all day, but she looks amazing all the time to me.

I chuck her a blanket for her to use when she wants to sleep.

***Taylor's POV***

So in a bizarre turn of fate we are all sitting watching TV in Ross' hospital room.

Jay is quiet. I look at Matty and realise I don't see him enough with his mates, he's talking and laughing and I love it. He's adorable. I smile at him and he catches my eye and winks.

Ross murmurs a little he's been drifting in and out of sleep. I stand up and ask him if he's okay. Jay eyes me from his chair.

"More morphine? Maybe" I ask Ross.

He nods and I press the button on the wall.

I feel his forehead. And he's kind of warm.

"You're kind of warm" I say pushing his hair back.

"I'll call for the nurse" I say.

"I thought you were one" Jay laughs.

I look at him, and stick out my tongue.

The nurse arrives. She's an older lady and she reminds me of my mum. I speak with her as she enters. She smiles at me checking Ross over.

"He is warm, you're right however the morphine will sort that out and you pressed for the drip correctly" she tells me.

"Are you interested in being a trainee dear" she asks.

I chuckle. And tell her thank you as she leaves the room.

I sit back down on the chair smirking to myself.

"Told you" Jay smirks. He can't help himself I roll my eyes.

When I'm satisfied Ross isn't in pain I lay down.

Matty eyes me quickly and smiles. It's a shame that I can't lay in his arms tonight. I stare up at him laying on my side. Blanket around the end of my legs. It is warm in here. Hospitals are meant to be broke but they sure have the money to heat them.

"Babe don't look at me like that" he whispers.

"Like what!?" I say defensively.

"You know what" he chuckles and tickles me.

"Okay I'll stop" I tell him laughing.

"Good get some rest" he warns me.

He places his hand under my chin and guides my lips to his. After a long kiss he lets me go.

"Ill deal with the patient" he laughs.

The nurses have allowed us to stay on the recliners over night because of the disruptive weather and heavy snow.

I grab the blanket and drape it around myself. My slippers are on the floor next to me and I've put my phone on charge. Matty brought my charger with him too.

I lay watching him next to me. He's taken his top off and he's laying there in his jeans. The boys were complaining about the heater. Jay never to be overshadowed is also shirtless. The lights are off now and I quickly fall asleep missing Matty's arms around me.
