In an underground structure built directly under the prestigious Kingdom of Licorice, we could see ten Imperial Knights guarding the underground basement.
I was a soldier for war, we war soldiers usually don't get called for work unless we are in war but I love to devote myself to the nation of Licorice.
It's a peaceful kingdom for the past 30 years since the current emperor is a pacifist but I wonder for long would we be able to maintain peace.
I have a son and a daughter of 3 and 11 years respectively. My wife died 3 and a half years ago after giving birth to my son. I couldn't help but grieve and grow cowardly since I didn't want my children to be killed in such young age.
I wonder for how long could we keep this peace?
"...!"
"Commander Saxon. You are being summoned by the royal magician of the Emperor for the summoning ritual."
The time has finally come. I wonder if the otherworlder(s) and us could live together peacefully? I loved peace as war was cruel.
I took my sword from my table and made my way to the summoning room.
The room was filled with runes and scriptures as the ground itself was filled with numerous circles and squares.
I didn't really graduate from a magic school since I never had a talent for magic but my Swordsmanship was excellent so I was given the post of a Commander even if my status as a commoner was used as a barrier for my talent.
I looked around the dark underground lit by burning candles.
"..!"
I puked including a few of my colleagues as my eyes wore a disgusted expression when I saw the blood of children not aged more than five killed and set up in the summoning ritual platform carefully forming a pentagram above a hexagon made out of human bones.
I heard a mad and sickening laugh as I saw the royal magician's face twisted in a creepy laugh.
"YES ...!YES !!!!!YES!!!!! finally mmm .....we will be the first human kingdom.... mahhhh ....no in this entire world ...we will be the first to summon otherworlders."
I unsheathed my sword and dodged the incoming spells coming towards us. I slashed the earthern bullets in half that came flying towards me as a few soldiers regained their reasoning and killed the other magicians.
I heard the royal magician chant, along with a few other magicians as the summoning platform lit up in flames surrounded by molten silver.
"We call forth into time and space
To humans of otherworld who will crave their legend in this world
Through wishes crystallized, memories faded upon"
The walls glowed as the runic scriptures glowed in bright blue light, we dodged the ice serpent coming towards us with its chilly breath.
"The individuals of neutral alignment
One of the collective
And one of civilization
These are the final wishes of our Kingdom
As we stand upon the infallible boundary, before the brink of its destruction,
We sacrifice the blood of hundred people
Take form of the legendary heroes, armed to fight"
I stopped the five summoners by slashing them vertically with my sword.
"Aegis, and the Knight 6 th division and 7th division take care of the other magicians. I will take care of the ritual platform."
Everyone shouted "yes" as I made my way to the royal magician.
"From the collapse, we will forge a path.
And from that path, we will carve a future.
Through you, we embody change.
And through us, you embody will.
To those written into legend, of Heroes and Villains."
"STOP IT YOU FOOL."
I shouted towards the royal magician as he grinned at me and shot five inferno spears towards me. I dodged the first two spears while the third spear pierced my right elbow and the fourth spear was blocked by my shield, while I prepared to deflect the fifth spear.
I ran towards him desperately to stop the ritual as a bright light surrounded me.
"From Men, from Kings, from Gods.
To those who hail to heed the call
Come forth in duty, from desire, under will of our God."
The light engulfed us all including the royal magician as I sighed in despair for not being able to say a final goodbye to my children.
I muttered, "May God Bless You"

Y/N Pov:
I walked down the footpath as I was going to climb up the stairs but I halted.
I was met by a black haired lady standing above, staring down at me.
She studied my face as tears fell down her face.
I climbed up the stairs as soon as possible and asked the lady if she was alright.
The lady replied, "Y-yes. I am f-fine."
She stuttered. How cute.
She blushed profusely as I looked towards her face studying her realising I said that out loud.
I scratched my head as I feigned ignorance.
She stopped her crying as I gave her my handkerchief to wipe her tears.
She looked towards me as a gust of wind washed over us with our hair fluttering.
The cherry blossoms started falling as the spring our lives fluttered both of our hearts.
'If I was in an anime, I would have already become the main protagonist of the romcom genre with this type of setting.'
I wanted to say it so bad, "Have we met each other before?" but I did not even if I knew her I could not recognise her anymore.
She asked, "Have we met each other before?"
I replied as I smiled softly, "No, we did not."
She sighed as she tears glistened under her eyes as she smiled sorrowfully begging for me to say (Yes).
I replied.
"But I believe I have met you as someone important even when I couldn't remember you."
