Ayato POV:
I woke up at 6 in the morning. It seems Yuuki didn't wake up yet. So I brushed my teeth and went to the dining ta- Hah, I forgot that I am not at my home anymore. Great, now I am remembering Mom and dad again. I never thought I would miss that brat too.
*Sigh, this is gonna be hard.
Well, there is no point in feeling miserable about things you can't change, Ayato.
I looked into the fridge and took out some ingredients to make breakfast. I toasted the bread and made two fried eggs. I made the yoke of my egg hard, Yuuki once told me he likes runny eggs which I find disgusting, well since we have bakery bread, might as well make shakshouka.
I woke Yuuki up and we both ate breakfast.
"You cook really well".
"I know".
"You should open a restaurant here", he said. I know exactly what he is trying to say.
"I am not five, Yuuki. Something like that won't work on me".
"Haah, fine. Let's go to my workshop."
"Okay", we went into his workshop".
"Firstly, can you tell me who the man that saved me six years ago was?"
"It was I who saved you".
"Secondly, why are you looking after me like this?"
"Let's just say saving you was what gave me hope, I was in a dark place before that. So you mean a lot to me."
He probably lost a lot. Let's not ask about it anymore. He does not look like he is willing to talk.
I averted my eyes from his eyes and asked him," So, what were the circuits you were talking about?"
Hearing this he gained his composure back and said," Spirit circuits are a part of your soul. It's what allows you to use your prana and draw mana from around you. It takes spiritual energy and then molds it to make changes in the universe, we call it mysteria. Circuits come in various qualities. Quality refers to how much spiritual energy can a circuit output. A person is born with at least one circuit while a decent mage from the Ivory Tower has about 20 unless they are destroyed. Destroying all spirit circuits means the person will die."
"So, mysteria as in like mysteries? "
"Well, that is where it comes from. You see back in the old days mages used to think that the supernatural phenomenon they create are mysteries that could only exist because people believe in the fact that they could exist but can't explain them, this is why as science advances mysteries disappear. But later mages found out that it was not entirely the case, you see every planet has its pseudo-consciousness. It changes what is possible within itself by the belief of the dominant species on that planet. This is why the spell-craft of the past was so powerful. Because people back then were not as believing in science as they are now and science hadn't progressed to the point of contradicting the mysteria we do. So, beings like gods, demons, and spirits could exist on this planet without any restrictions. Spell-craft during that time used to draw powers from these beings to do mysteria. But as people developed and became less dependent on gods, the gods disappeared. So, without drawing the power of beings who could create
extremely potent supernatural phenomena, they had to rely more on their circuits to create mysteria. And it's hard to maintain or create mysteria if a celestial being like our planet constantly tries to destroy it, but there are some mages who can outperform even the best mages during when gods existed by literally being stronger than the planet's will.

"Anyway, you can learn about it later, first we have to unlock your circuits. You at least have a few since you were compatible with the daemon, after that we can see what spell-craft you can properly use".
He told me to undress my shirt. Replaced a hand behind my back and I felt an unexplainable sensation each time on got unlocked. It did not hurt but it wasn't pleasant either. Half an hour later all my circuits were unlocked. After that, he did a series of tests on me and then said,
"Your elemental affinity is fire and earth. Though you can't learn spell craft relating to them with the same level of talent as others with the same affinity".
"Why? "
"Because the daemon did something. It's also the reason why you got a good memory and a faster healing factor compared to normal humans, well, it also gave you a heightened perception of mystaria, so you can deal with spirits easily, you would also be great at alchemy too"
"I will give you some basic spell books on alchemy. They're mostly about material transmutation and handling spiritual energy. Learn them first. "
"How many circuits do I have? "
"27, each with an output of 10 units, your prana reserve is 25 units. "
I took the books and he said he will make this place safer for me to practice. He also told me he could not help me much with spell craft apart from giving me books as he does not have much theoretical knowledge and he has a condition that prevents him from using too much of it.
