Chapter 198 - A Flight to the Finish

Vincent was very much still wounded from his scrapes and bullet wounds, but he was so angry at the news of the death of his best friend, that pain was nothing but a tiny obstacle in his way. It was nothing in comparison for how badly his heart burned in grief.

Lara, Ajax, Jyriah, Joss, Veltar, and Jess had all argued to go - and finding no reason to tell them no, the Dragon Prince allowed all of them to ride upon his back.

While Veltar's eye had not fully healed, it was good enough for him to push forward. He wanted to kill Harbinger as much as anyone else. He killed Syrana. He ruined everyone's life. The old general had to pay, and Veltar had to be there to witness it if he ever wanted to sleep at night again.

Jyriah was silent as his rage boiled intensely in his stomach as he thought of all the things he would have liked to see happen to Harbinger, but honestly - to just watch him disappear would be enough.

Harbinger killed both of his sisters, both of his precious, amazing, and beautiful sisters. He had stolen Metas from him, and all chances of contentment he could possibly ever have again. The fiery male didn't even care as tears flowed from his eyes freely as he thought of how empty he felt.

Vincent spared no speed as he zoomed towards the open 'head' of the mountain. He didn't even care that his passengers were digging their claws into his scales - not one ruddy fuck of a care. All that mattered was stopping that maniac. It was going to take every ounce of strength he had left, but it would all be well-spent.

Everyone's fears blossomed into an inescapable storm of terror as they beheld Harbinger below, with a large, shiny, pointy object presented before them.

Ajax and Lara decided that they didn't have time to try to meld together once they hit the ground - they had to start now, and hope that landing from a long height would kill them.

Even after having unlocked the giant wolf once before, it was still hard to conjure up as a multitude of emotions and thoughts were throwing their concentration off (as well as the wind and cold air, to boot).

It was honestly a lucky thing that they could not sync together quickly, because unknown to them - a long fall as a small ethereal wolf would indeed kill them.

With their foreheads tensely pressed together, Ajax and Lara both squinted their eyes closed and tried, and tried, and tried to summon that white wolf again.

It felt lost. It felt hopeless. It was painful and hard to pull off with how tired they both were, but they were out of time.

They were out of options.

They had to stop the destruction of not only their kind, but everyone else as well. They fought too hard to get here, too much had been lost.

Both of them were on the same wavelength now as the dire sincerity of the situation set into some kind of 'calm' like the eye of a hurricane, and as Vincent swooped down towards the green ground below, they felt that same warmth and spark of inspiration as everything came together.

They hadn't even noticed that Vincent had crashed into the earth, or that Harbinger was distracted for a mere moment, causing him to almost drop the large, silver box in his hand. All they saw was that giant object that was displayed before him.

It all felt like slow motion as their giant white paws continued to grow in size as they landed right in front of the General and his bomb.

It was a rarity for Harbinger to be stunned, and this was one of those times. He even dropped the piece of parchment that had the code for the detonator on it without noticing. His jaw clenched tighter into one another, and his eyes glared and the giant, bright wolf before him.

"What the fuck?" He managed to spit out.

The distractions only continued as the flood of wolves that had breached the castle, was now pouring into the crater and taking on several armed soldiers.

Panic seemed to flood the old 'man', because in the haste of the moment, he realized that his code was missing, and he was so busy looking for the parchment with his precious writing, that he didn't notice it right away by his feet.

Everything had been so peaceful for the General that morning. Everything had worked out. He had already claimed victory. He was ready and prepared for it-- and now it was all crashing down at the two hind legs he stood on.

Laura and Ajax's two sets of eyes glowered down at the General as he reached down to gather his precious information. They could not afford to hesitate, but even at such a fast pace - Harbinger was still quicker and just as he gathered the code, he was able to roll back from the giant, glowing paw that came down on the spot he had been in.

The only problem was that the two of them were /sitting/ on his bomb.

...or was it a problem?

He grinned deviously and looked down to the controller and put in the symbols designated for him. He flipped up the little covering to the giant red switch he so desperately wanted to shift up, and as soon as it lit up red, he did exactly that.
