"Okay...books, books..." Veltar muttered as he pulled out two letters, and a satchel with something light inside of it. Nothing was out of the ordinary until he tried to pull up the deep blue blanket that looked innocently folded.
Just as his fingers gripped the soft fabric, it slipped right out as his grip wasn't strong enough to lift it. 'What the hell is this?' Veltar wondered with agitation and went for the object again with much more effort.
...It was a blanket? It was a blanket! He instantly looked to Myranda who was tossing in her sleep again, despite the fact that he had just rolled her back into Metas' embrace.
'What kind of dreams do you have, Myranda?' he wondered with a sad awe as he lugged the heavy blanket out of the very small pouch that shouldn't have been able to hold such a massive thing. Whoever this old guy was, he was someone who was either important, or super lucky to have a magical artifact like this. It was old, too - so old it had human script on it.
He couldn't understand what 'adidas' was - but he wished he could. It was clearly human. To be honest, he was freaking out a little at having something so rare in his hands. This was not something on his list of 'stuff that can happen', and he wanted to enjoy it - but without forgetting about those books that were requested several times to be specifically given to Joss.
Veltar grunted a bit as he pulled the blanket over Metas and Myranda. It didn't cover the Alpha's feet, but the 'doctor' had noted that the male had kicked his feet out from under the blankets twice tonight.
It was like the blanket had an instant affect on Myranda - and it was creepy. Once the weight had been pressed upon her, she seemed to relax and take in longer breaths.
"Huh..." he wondered out loud with astonishment. What a simple thing to solve everyone's frustrations with having to sleep in a den with the Luna. So many more of them were going to get sleep now, and he was relieved and awed that something so innocent as a weighted blanket would be able to stop the violent stirring of a heavy dreamer.
Now that Veltar had tended to them both, he returned to the satchel and searched for said books that were tucked under a wooden box that was clasped with a metal latch.
'Advanced Mathematics' one read, and 'Runes and Combinations' was on the cover of the other. 'What does math have to do with magic?' Veltar wondered with pure perplex.
Why should he care anyway? That guy was very urgent about them being low on time. Those two are stable, A dead body isn't going anywhere, so other than Jyriah being really pissed off at being woken up - Veltar had no other reason to not rush to the silver-haired wolf immediately.
...Although Jyriah being angry was pretty terrifying....
Almost as terrifying as Metas' dragon friend.
He tucked the books under his arm and went towards the waterfall. He tucked the books into his shirt and crossed his arms tightly over the tops and bottoms of each using his forearms, and leaped out from behind the water as fast as he could in his mortal form.
As much as he really wanted to sink his teeth into the books and run, he also knew that paper was very fragile and easily bent to teeth.
You can't read something if it isn't fully there - so instead he soaked himself to the bone and went into the underground tunnels to wake Joss and possibly the anger laying within Jyriah.
"Hey, wake up. Things have happened," Veltar said without a smidgen of an attempt to keep his volume low.
"What?" Joss asked with confusion and a little bit of anger as he felt the large 'doctor' shake him vigorously.
"Books. Read them. Here." Veltar shot out quickly and dropped the sort-of wet duo of books in front of the stunned silver-haired wolf.
"Hey - what the hell, man?" Jyriah let out with grit stuck in his throat.
"Sorry - no time to explain right now. Listen, this old male just dropped in unannounced and claims to be someone who was delivering things to Metas and whatnot for help. I don't know what it means. He said give them to you - he said a lot of things, actually - but then he just.....died..." Veltar relayed with bewilderment.
"Wait - what?" Jyriah asked as he rubbed his eye with his paw.
"...Are you just going to stay in your mortal form? This is weird..." he followed up as he looked at Veltar's human features.
"Yeah. I gotta crawl back out of here and bury a dead guy. Would you like to help me, Jerry?"
"Hey. That's his name exclusively for me," Jyriah replied and pointed to his mate. "You have to come up with your own," he followed up indignantly.
"Right, right - look, I'm running low on sleep, there is a dead, old male in my waterfall, and I'm stressed out. I can't really laugh right now...." Veltar refuted with a sigh.
"Veltar. Buddy. Pal. You can always laugh," Jyriah replied and put a paw on the doctor's nose only to follow up with a bright "boop".
Contrary to Jyriah's plans, Veltar did not laugh. He wanted to, but he just couldn't. He was too tired, and he was too confused.
