Chapter 133 - Enter the Dragon

"You couldn't have come at a worse time, Vincent.." Metas sighed in annoyance.

"Excuse me? You're the one who sent this to me as a response to our last letter. What are you doing siding with the Ferals? Does our friendship mean nothing to you suddenly? What happened to being brothers and standing firm against the other kingdoms?" Vincent was absolutely enraged from the tone he had.

If he had been any other person, Metas would have hurt them gravely. Vincent however, was not only his friend and closest ally, but he was going to be the new king of Protea - and he was the last known living soul on the Ylphasia that had the blood of a dragon. The last thing he wanted to do was insult the now-mortal formed man who glowered at him with purple eyes that smoldered with the rage only a dragon would have.

Myranda shivered below Metas as she looked to the grim, and dark expression the tall man held on her husband. As terrifying as his presence was, all Myranda could think about was how much she hated him. No matter how much time passed, she silently vowed to never trust or like the man. If he could run his mouth in such a delicate situation, he probably had very little sense in the first place.

The slits in his eyes seemed to thin as he viewed her mis-matched eyes looking into his with a fiery challenge.

Whereas most females would find Vincent's Adonis-like beauty and perfect skin irresistible, Myranda only saw a big, gross pervert who encroached upon her very important mating ritual with the male she had finally trusted and longed to be with. His long black hair would have probably caused her to swoon in a novel or something, but in real life - he looked like an angry vampire dressed in old human attire.

"What in the fuck, Metas?" Vincent growled and threw the crumpled up piece of paper he had and threw it at Metas' face.

Whatever was in that letter must have been beyond upsetting. Vincent was as stoic as they came. He didn't care about anyone or anything other than his kingdom, his little brother, and holding on to some false hope that the love of his life, who was married to another king, would somehow return to him.

He was a big ball of angst really, but being upset about something as small as a letter wasn't his MO for sure.

"Ow." Metas replied flatly as he let the wad hit his face.

"Explain. Now. I don't care what you're doing - you owe me an explanation immediately. How fucking dare you bring Raltier into this, too. I'll slay you and fly your skin from my castle's highest tower, you son of a bitch!" Vincent raged out and looked down to Myranda with spite, as though she were nothing but a mere whore.

"You send me a threat, sever our detente, and then tell me if I don't join you, you're going to kill my little brother as a warning - and I find you out here fucking a whore, are you serious? You're lucky I don't burn your whole damned forest down right now!" Vincent's roar was unearthly - it was something hollow, but filled with multiple voices at the same time. Something about it made anyone terrified for a brief second, even if they didn't show it.

Metas and Myranda were no different. That sound, that cry of anger - there was nothing like it. A dragon's wrath was nothing to be at the wrong end of.

"Alright, you're upset - so I'm going to ignore the fact you just called my Queen - my /wife/ a whore. You walked into a trap. I'm forgiving your words once, Vincent. Don't insult my beloved again," Metas answered and pulled himself up from the ground and dusted himself off.

He hadn't even gotten to take off his pants, and it was clear he was very, very annoyed.

It wasn't until the Alpha's words sank into his ears that the notion dawned on him; he had interrupted two royals in a private, intimate moment. Vincent was lucky that Metas was so calm and collected, otherwise this would have been the kick-off to a war between friends.

"I'm sorry," the dragon murmured towards Myranda, but didn't give her much more of a look.

In the Luna's eyes - he came off as someone who detested females, or at least looked down on them. She wasn't impressed, and she never would be by the great 'dragon's' presence.

"I did not write you that letter, you massive idiot. Harbinger must have. I've sort of been usurped..." the Alpha replied with a bit of embarrassment.

"This is sort of?" Vincent asked sarcastically and gestured to his friend. "You're having sex with your Queen in the woods. I know you're all about being a warrior of the earth, but this is ridiculous. From my perspective, you've been entirely usurped. What happened? Why didn't you send me a letter that you needed help?"

"I didn't get the chance to," Metas replied and before addressing the man further, he looked down to ensure Myranda had put her shirt back on before he offered her his hand and pulled her up to my side.

"It happened rather quickly. I thought I had everything under control, and then I was put in my reality where I sit now. I could use your help now that you are here, though..." Metas answered and hoped his oldest royal friend wasn't about to leave him behind.

"Done. I'm not going to sit back and let your kingdom fall. We have plans - important plans, Metas." Vincent said as though reminding the wolf like he forgot.

"I remember, my brother. It will happen still, as long as this doesn't happen again. You need to keep your cool better sometimes. It's going to cost you dearly one day if you don't." Metas replied and once more demanded respectfully, "for now, you need to apologize to my wife much better. You've ruined our wedding night."

"You know I think marriage is-" Vincent stopped mid sentence as he read the Alpha's intense face in reaction to his words. "Actually, I just realized I don't know a thing about that stuff, so I am sure it is more important to you than me. I am sorry, Luna Myranda. I didn't realize what was going on."

Metas' face changed to that of a smile, but his wife's was frozen into one of anger and hatred that would never thaw for the foolish dragon who burned down her entire night and turned it to ash and ruin.
