Chapter 108 - You Can Tell Him...

"Thank you for saving me, Sir Finnegan" Lyrica said with an extra high girly-voice.

"Of course, princess Bonnie, we're happy to save you any day," Jyriah replied with the 'manliest' voice he could must (which really was added vibrato to his already deep voice). His throat was getting dry, though - and it was getting harder to play along.

"Hey, Lyrica...can I please have some water? It's making it hard to talk with my throat so parched" he followed up and indeed tried to swallow the dry lump in his hoarse throat.

"Okay, okay...but I'll bring it back to you. You'll just run off if I let you down..." she said warily and pouted just a bit.

"Thanks, kid" he sighed out with relief.

"You stay here and take care of the princess and her friends - and I'll be right back," she promised with a devious tone.

Once more, she stretched the metal and reshaped it without effort (it looked a lot like an art editing software being done with her hands alone, and ripping the fabric of reality).

"Can you tell my sister I'm okay - maybe? Please?" he tried his luck.

"Mmmmmm....maybe!~" Lyrica said playfully and flew off like an adorable wingless doll.

"I can't believe there was nothing in there!" Ajax grunted and picked up a rather large log and lobbed it forward.

Lara sat a good amount of distance away as she watched her mate hurl heavy objects into the widest space they could find.

"We wasted an entire night -- an entire. night!" he raged.

The only thing Lara wished she had at this moment was a nice, hot cup of tea - or at least Gerald or Metas here to lob sarcastic comments together. Ajax was often prone to bouts of anger - but never at anyone, or himself.

He just liked to throw things. He really, really liked to throw things.

Instead of trying to calm him down, she knew him so well that Lara knew the best way to let him release his anger, was to just let him destroy things that weren't precious, useful, or alive. She stayed silent and closed her eyes as though she were going to a happy place -- a ballroom.

There were few things Lara loved above a good ballroom party - Ajax and her parents. Other than that, she'd literally give up all plans or promises if she was invited to a gala or celebration at the royal palace.

She got to dress up, and put makeup on her mortal form. The dresses she could choose from were absolutely gorgeous, and her parents had the money to buy any one of them she wanted. Being as beautiful as she was, she could dance with any male in the entire room, and no one would turn him down.

However, she got far more delight when she danced with Ajax and watched all of their jealous eyes upon him. 'That's right,' she'd think haughtily. 'You'll never compare to the man I'm dancing with no matter how hard you try - but I encourage you to anyway," Lara would always finish up like some kind of ritual.

No one was ever open to be her +1 except for Ajax. Not even her best female friends. It led to a lot of problems - but the thought of putting her face up against the chest that wasn't his would ruin the night entirely.

Should he not be able to come, she'd dance with her companions - mostly Metas or Gerald. As much as she seems to be an outgoing wolf, honestly she was happiest with Ajax and their friends.

"Stupid! Box!" Ajax's voice cracked her dreamworld for a moment, and she just shook her head and went back to her favorite party of all -- Metas' 180th birthday. It was the smallest party she'd ever attended, but it was hands-down the best one ever. Nothing would replace it.

"Lara - LARA!" Ajax's voice shrieked in terror as he tried to get her attention.

This time it worked and she opened her eyes to see a small child that looked like the monster some old Doctor from the human realm created. She couldn't remember its name right now, but - all that child was missing were some bolts in her neck.

"Hey! Screaming isn't very nice," Lyrica 'harumphed' and crossed her arms with indignation.

"S-s-orry?" Ajax asked as his emerald eyes watched her float in the air without wings, and without any assistance from a gem or machination.

"You should be. You're not as nice as Mister Pawsies," she continued with the tone only a child could make when it came to being clear who favorites were.

"Who?" he asked uneasily.

"Uhg - Mister Pawsies! The patchy one's brother. Can you tell her he's okay? He'll be okay forever - I'll take really good care of him, I promise!" Lyrica said happily and took a bow as daintily as the most regal princess.

Had it not been for her monstrous appearance, and her patchy hair, she'd look like a little darling cherub.

"You have Jyriah!?" Lara shouted in surprise. "You can't just take someone away like that - you have to let him go. Where are you keeping him?"

"..but he's my best friend...He's the first person whose ever played dolls with me..." she replied with sad face.

Somehow, Lara was positive that the little doll-zombie-creature wasn't lying or manipulating her. She seemed sincere. "No one?"

"...No.... the others think I'm cursed because I came out wrong...but I'm not! Mr. Pawsies is nice to me, and he doesn't laugh at my face," Lyrica replied with wavering lips.

"There are others like you? What are you...?" Ajax asked with hesitance.

"You're mean, and how do you not know what I am? Do you puppies ever look outside the big mountain, or are you just dumb?" Lyrica asked with a very disrespectful tone.

"You little brat-" Ajax started, but was stopped by his better half.

"Ajax! Be nice." Lara hissed.

"I'm none of your business is what I am, you big, fat, ugly, poopie-smelling jerk!" she gruffed out with a high pitched that had a gravel-like undertone to her voice.

"Hey!" Ajax shot back, but before Lara could try to coax the little girl back, the little one bonked Ajax on the nose and zipped off like a little evil wingless fairy thing.

"Ow - that actually hurt!" he complained and covered his nose with both of his hands as he wailed.

"You kind of deserved that, AJ. You called her a brat. She was clearly upset - and I was going to try to ask her where Jyriah was - but you just had to yell at her..." Lara sneered and let her lips dip into a deep, deep frown.

"I just asked what she was, that was it!" Ajax argued and flung his hands in the air with exasperation.

"You don't --- urgh." Lara paused and took in a deep breath as she pinched the bridge of her nose and squeezed it and then continued to speak with a thin voice, "Ajax... what would you do if someone asked me what I was - and then called me a brat?"

"...Oh...shit. Sorry..." Ajax replied in defeat immediately.

"Ajax. You're going to tell Myranda what happened right in front of Metas, and I'm not going to help you out of it unless he's about to kill you," she continued as irritation started to flood her head.

"Please, please don't make me do that, Snow..." he begged and put his hands on her shoulders in desperation.

She merely closed her eyes, crossed her arms, and turned her head from him.

"No, please - I admit I messed up, is that enough? I'm sorry," he pleaded, knowing that Metas was in no way, no shape, or in any form going to let him get away with this.

Lara just ignored him and turned to get out of his grasp, which was easy as he wasn't gripping her very hard at all.

"We're going home now, the sun is coming." Lara did not let her tone soften at all. She was so angry at his foolishness and even more upset that he had hurt a child's feelings. Even if she were a little monster...she was clearly a kid.

"Larahahahahahaaaaaaa" Ajax sobbed as he followed behind her on his knees as though it would change her mind.
