Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Honest Superpower User

Lin Xing was not an ordinary person, and he had realized very early on that he was not ordinary, for he possessed superpowers.

He referred to his superpower as time reversal, which occurred whenever he encountered a life-threatening danger, sending him back in time.

For instance, the first time he experienced time reversal was when Lin Xing, during his elementary school years, slipped, fell, and died, only to find himself back in the restroom five seconds earlier, scaring him so much that he accidentally sprayed the shoes of the classmate next to him.

The second time was during middle school, when he was killed by falling glass, screaming as he found himself back at the school gate a minute earlier.

The third time occurred in high school, when he was killed by a dump truck; he found himself back on the street twenty minutes earlier, and in an attempt to stop another pedestrian from getting hit, Lin Xing was scolded by the person, mistaking him for a lunatic.

By the time he graduated from college in 2023, Lin Xing had only experienced these three instances of time reversal, and from these limited experiences, he believed that the length of time he traveled back was related to the severity of the danger.

He had also considered testing whether suicide could trigger this ability, but ultimately, out of fear that his power would not work post-suicide and he might actually die, he hesitated for a long time and eventually gave up on the experiment.

Yet at this very moment, Lin Xing, looking at the somewhat familiar university building in front of him, felt his head was a confused and bewildered mess.

He steadied himself, first checked his phone, then went on the internet to search, staring blankly at the screen and observing his own reflection for a while before finally confirming something.

He had traveled back to one year ago, back to June 2022 inside the university building.

After confirming the time, his heart churned tumultuously, continually thinking, "This time my time reversal lasted a year? But the last thing I remember before reversing was lying down to sleep."

"What danger did I encounter that sent me back a year?"

"Fire? Earthquake? Tsunami?"

Lin Xing rubbed his head; he felt there were certain important memories he hadn't recalled yet, memories he told himself he must not forget but now couldn't remember no matter how hard he tried.

"What should I do?"

"Should I report this to the country?"

Lin Xing was not an ordinary person with superpowers; he was an upright superpowered individual. This wasn't just Lin Xing's self-perception; it was an objective fact supported by countless ironclad proofs.

Since accepting his father's teachings, from the first day of kindergarten to college graduation, whether it was school rules or national laws, Lin Xing never violated any.

In addition, whether it was linguistics, mathematics, foreign languages, sports, art, or moral education, he never failed any subject in his lifetime.

Throughout his life, he had never been late or left early, never had an incomplete assignment, and never dozed off in class.

He had never jumped a queue, littered, or visited an illegal website.

This was the upright life of Lin Xing.

He had also thought about whether he, with his superpowers, could give back to society, protect the people, and fight crime.

But the reality was that the entire world was incredibly stable; his city had not seen a major crime for decades, and he had not heard of any wars abroad.

Lin Xing had thought his superpowers had no place to be used...

Until this moment, when, after traveling back a year in time to university, he suddenly realized... maybe now was the time his superpowers needed to take on a responsibility that only he could bear.

And the first thing he thought of was how he could report this to the country.

"A disaster of this magnitude must be occurring for me to be sent back a year in time. I must report it to the country, so they can prepare in advance..."

It was based on this idea that Lin Xing found himself pondering: "If I keep calling the emergency number and the operators don't believe me, am I wasting emergency resources?"

Do not be surprised by the depth of Lin Xing's contemplation; such deep insights stemmed from Lin Xing's own abundant life experiences.

For instance, after he was killed by the dump truck in high school, he had tried to prevent the accident by calling the police.

After all, when in trouble, seek the police; Lin Xing had always believed that the police were the strongest support for someone as upright with superpowers as him.

And as an upright superpowered individual, Lin Xing never deigned to lie, so his act was taken as a prank by the operator, who warned him not to waste police resources before hanging up.

"Directly calling the police is useless; I must make the country believe what I am saying."

Lin Xing immediately had an idea, "I have a way now. The Luoguo World Cup is a month away; maybe I could predict the outcomes of the World Cup..."

"Wait..."

Suddenly his expression turned solemn, and he started intensely checking his phone; then, the next moment, he bolted out.

Half a minute later, Lin Xing ran gasping into the classroom, silently saying to himself, "That was close," followed by laughter, "Good, good, I was almost late."

At that moment, except for Lin Xing, the classroom was empty. He randomly chose a seat, took out his textbooks from his bag, and continued to ponder his plan.

But even after the class time had passed, the classroom remained empty apart from him, and even the class bell hadn't rung.

Lin Xing frowned, "Why am I the only one? Did I go to the wrong classroom?"

After checking outside and confirming he hadn't gone to the wrong classroom, Lin Xing sat down again, "I don't remember anything like this ever happening."

"The class bell didn't even ring. Did the class times get adjusted..."

Meanwhile, Lin Xing began to feel a somewhat familiar presence gradually permeating the place.

The familiar feeling continued to float in his mind; there seemed to be some important memory trying to resurface, but Lin Xing couldn't remember it, no matter how hard he tried.

Just then, a soft snap sounded as the classroom's front door suddenly swung open.

Accompanied by footsteps, a thin man dressed in simple clothes slowly walked in.

As soon as the man crossed the threshold, his gaze locked onto Lin Xing, and with a sinister smile, he walked toward him.

...

While the classroom underwent this strange occurrence, not far from the university building outside, a team of men dressed in combat gear, wielding firearms, was rushing towards the classroom.

The leading middle-aged man shouted into his earpiece, "What's going on? Why is the door opening in a different place than our previous calculations?"

"I don't know, it seems some kind of spacetime disturbance has altered the door's location. Wait... there's someone there; he's encountered a native of the Mirror World."

"Captain Wei, the native is about to take action; you need to speed up!"

The man known as Captain Wei infuriatedly said, "What are you doing?! Weren't you supposed to evacuate the school? How did this person get in?"

"I don't know; we've already blocked off the perimeter. Who knows how he got in there..."
