Chapter 2 - A New Beginning

The last thing I remember was seeing a blinding flash before everything went dark.

"I must have lost consciousness. I can't feel my body or see anything."

When out of nowhere a little speck of light appears some distance ahead of me. Im not sure exactly how but I just started moving towards the light. It slowly draws closer. When i reach the light it suddenly expands. It is a vast and empty room, or so I thought.

Just then a strange object, that sort of looks like an art palette, floats down from above and stops before me.

"What are these colored symbols?" I ask, thinking out loud.

At that moment one of the symbols begins to glow. It's a dark, shadow like color. Almost as if the color itself is shadow, but it gives a comfortable feeling to me. I reach out for the palette. Then the symbol flashes, and shoots between my eyebrows. Then I open my eyes, blinded by the light for a moment.

The first thing I notice is Liz lying next to me still seemingly unconscious. There's a trace amount dark mist floating around my fingers, which seemingly fuses into me in an instant.

"Elizabeth! Please wake up hun. Please, please be ok," i plead.

"Oh hush, you're such a whiny little homo, you know that," Liz groggily says as her eyes flutter open.

"Oh thank goodness, I swore I'd lost you. Are you ok? Do you know what happened?" I ask while releasing a breathe of relief.

We both sit up and start looking around. I then notice a small group of flaming birds flying in the sky that resemble a phoenix.

"Uh Lizzy, I don't think this is earth anymore…" I say while staring wide eyed at the world around us.

"Huh? What do you mean this isn't earth. How could it not be?" She replies, sounding slightly panicked.

"Ok hear me out. Look up in the sky. Doesn't that look like a phoenix to you?" I point out.

"Oh my god, it really does look like one," she says, shocked and amazed.

That's when we start hearing noises in the surrounding wood. We look each and every way, but we're unable to locate the source of the sound.

"Mike, I don't like it here we need to find somewhere to hide."

"Where the hell are we gonna hide Elizabeth? We don't even know where we are."

"I don't know just run!! It's coming!"

"Wait how do you know," I ask as Liz grabs me and starts dragging me as far away as possible.

Finally after running for more than an hour. Liz finally starts to slow down and we both start to catch our breath.

"Wat was that back there Liz? Why did you freak out all of a sudden?"

"I'm not entirely sure. I just heard this tiny voice in my head screaming for us to run." Liz answers.

"Hmm so kind of like a sixth sense," I reply. "Well whatever that was I'm sure it'll be handy until we can find some sort of civilization. For now i think we should try and find some shelter. As crazy as it seems, it looks like the sun is already setting. Didn't we just get up not too long ago. How long were we out."

"I agree let's find somewhere to rest and gather our heads. Although I don't wanna admit it. It seems our lives have changed, for better or for worse," Liz replies back.

We walk carefully through the seemingly endless woods until we finally come across a small cave. After Inspecting it thoroughly, we set up camp in the cave. We both lay down, but neither of us could sleep the entire night. The fear of something vicious finding us in our sleep kept us up the entire night.
