Back in her chambers Queen Kuang Lingxuan was seated in great depression over her daughter's marriage— and thus wished to not perform any action until she could attain a good match for her. After effectively calling Minister Tan Ruogang to her presence, he suggested to the Queen that fifty fine men of all rich households should be taken from each of the four Grand Dukes so that she might have an opportunity to find a man that ranked in beauty and standard with the crown princess.
With immense delight at such a grand opportunity, Queen Kuang Lingxuan rested for the night and would make her preparations the following day.
Queen Kuang Lingxuan prepared a letter for the four Grand Dukes, requesting that fifty healthy men possessing outstanding physical strength and character come to present themselves before the capital. However, Prime Minister Zi Cheng warned the queen that such a request could bring mass contempt and potential unrest, so the queen withdrew the request.
During the joint meeting in the capital city of Qingyang, the six hundred Marquis came to the capital to attend the meeting and to offer their allegiance to the Northern Wei Dynasty.
Tan Ruogang and Huo Xin became extremely influential in court due to their consecutive victories in defending the borders and thus asked for many presents and additional bribes from the former wealthy classmen.
However, Duke Wang Shuaiyue ruler of the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean vehemently refuted such compliances with a fierce determination to staunchly oppose such injustices. Due to such, Tan Ruogang and Huo Xin grew rather hateful towards him.
As the nation's marquises and dukes arrived at the capital of Qingyang to pay their respects at the end of the year, the three grand dukes including the ruler of the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean were specially accorded precedence in front of Queen Kuang Lingxuan to commemorate and honour their diligence in their service.
Hosting the marquises and the dukes, after the joint meeting, the queen returned to her chambers followed by Tan Ruogang and Huo Xin. Due to their immense loathing towards Wang Shuaiyue, the two suggested to the Queen that the former possessed a very handsome son with the power of a thunderbolt.
It was widely renowned that the merchants of the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean engaged in endogamous marriages. For the last two centuries, no one from outside entered their households.
Thus Wang Shuaiyue was summoned to the hall of crimson clouds to present his son as a potential match for the crown princess which he declined with hateful words towards the royal family.
The Queen was angered by Wang Shuaiyue's disrespect and declared in a loud voice that the Wang Shuaiyue family had no right to remain on the island and that they should leave the island in three days or face dire consequences.
Afterwards, she tasked Minister Tan Ruogang to be in charge of persuading the families of the wealthy classmen and rulers of the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean to obey her request, to which the response was generally positive as they believed they still had a chance of regaining their wealth and status.
In the meantime, High Minister Li Gong also suggested that the Queen should send a message to every household to send their eligible sons to the palace for consideration of a royal match.
But Tan Ruogang stopped them and suggested that Wang Shuaiyue should be forgiven and sent back to his family out of consideration and dignity. In this way, the people of the Northern Wei Dynasty will look upon the royal family and it would also be much easier to attain Wang Shuaiyue's son.
Now settling down to an extent, Queen Kuang Lingxuan ordered Wang Shuaiyue to be expelled from the court. As Wang Shuaiyue thus returned to the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean, he considered his choices. If he was to give his son to Queen Kuang Linxuan, the households of the east sea ramped ocean would think of him as slanderous and immoral; if he refused to hand over his son, the Queen would most likely attack his prefecture with an army to ensure that his defiance could not spread further.
Carefully analyzing this, he decided it best to gather his forces to fight the royal family.
When the Queen got news of Wang Shuaiyue was getting ready for battle, she ordered a force of four armies to be placed under her command during the newly established attack upon the island of the East Sea Ramped Ocean. As High Minister Li Gong elaborated his suggestions to the Queen, it was decided that Zhu Bolin, Head of Henan Province and Liu Qi, Garrison Commander of the North would lead a joint force against Wang Shuaityue's city instead.
In the capital city, prime minister Zi Cheng was present with the other high-ranking officials and grand dukes and he wanted to know why the Queen was punishing such a loyal subject. Liu Qi, Garrison Commander of the North was hesitant before taking any action while Zhu Bolin, Head of Henan Province unconditionally accepted the Queen's order and set out with his army immediately.
