The moment that my aunt and uncle left the country I was bombarded by my siblings checking if I needed help since technically I've been absent for two years, but that doesn't stop me. His smiles, his eyes follow me around the room. His full attention is on me and I have shared my experience for my first marriage with him, I shared my tears, my unanswered questions, the complete silence that I got from changing my entire network so that I can't be contacted now or in the future from Layton. On warm days we would go out in public, go for a drive, go try new food and even shopping. Mainly thermals that are needed in Wellington New Zealand, warmer pajamas, coats, jerseys, jackets, track pants are a definite top up, beanies and gloves. By the time we left the smile that lit up grandfather's face just made it all that much and more.
Arriving home to our slow cooker, steaming like crazy as the meal looked nicely cooked. Heating up the room before giving grandfather a sponge bath so that he could enjoy the warm water rolling around him, "I want you too heat it up a little more," he gestured to his bath water. Nodding I ran the hot water tap with my right arm while holding my grandfather with my left arm as I heated the water a little hotter so that his muscles would unlock a bit. The fastest way to get grandfather's blood circulation moving is to place him in a warm to hot bath, to help his limbs to relax and stretch out so that he doesn't get stuck in that awkward position. He sat in there for about twenty minutes when his entire body stretched out in the tub, his legs touch the taps and his arms reach the top of the bath tub as he relaxed in the hot steaming water.
Removing him from the water and placing him in a warmed up towel to quickly dry his body before wrapping another bath towel around him, to move him back into his heated room so that I could massage him again before placing another set of clean pajamas on him as I chat his ears off. The love and care I got to be here has been amazing. "I feel stronger now, I obviously needed this time with you too remember my worth," I said to my grandfather as he rolled his eyes at me, "Yeah cause that's the only time you come to me now," I snapped at me as I drew a deep breath in,"Dad told me not to ask but I need to know," I said as I had his full attention as he looked at me confused, "I want you to come back to Auckland, but I know you wanna be here in Wellington, so I will commute back and forth from Auckland to Wellington because Steph is going on holiday with Dylan for a month and so I will be taking on her division until she is back." I stated as he looked at me frowning, "Are you hiding from him?," he asked as I just wheeled him out and to the dining area for dinner. "Of course not. I missed so many years away from my responsibilities and it's time I step up. Although, Steph team might get a shock, she's going on holiday, plus I can do all her stuff here in the house." I said as I pushed him up to the table and served him his plate, that has cooled enough for him to eat. "Okay, you're young and stronger than all of them. It will help your aunt and uncle out more than you will know," my grandfather spoke as I smiled.
As I had cleaned my grandfather up I made myself a plate as well before I tucked in, when we heard the front door open, in walked Rayne as we noticed he was alone when he rolled straight in and rinsed him a plate before joining us both at the table. "How have you both been cuz?," Rayne asked, as he sat to eat his meal, "Surprisingly good at that moment my cuz," I said as he nodded and finished his meal. "You seem a lot better and I am glad you're feeling better," Rayne said as I smiled, "I might stay here for a few more months before I fully return back to Auckland. Thankfully I can do my work down here and get everything signed and dated so that helps," my grandfather smiled, "That's good, your more efficient and meticulous in that area and it would help the others," he said giving me a pointed stare, again I just nodded at him and left it at that.
Before I even knew it the month went by real fast and I had already made dinner, cleaned the house, dressed and cleaned my grandfather then had him too at the table as we waited on the others to arrive after being away for a month..The first time in two years that my uncle left grandfather alone for more than a few days at a time, since grandfather decided to live out his life here in Wellington. In uncle stead he would send one of my brothers for it lasted longer than three days but this time, I offered to look after my grandfather so that they could spend time together and it was what I needed to heal my broken heart. I just had to focus on the ask at hand., pick up the slack of end and begin restructure of the team itself. To improve in areas that were running slower then other locations and even barely hitting the quota for months and so far we have three locations barely making quota at this time so I had bounced ideas off my grandfather while I had then virtually signed what needed to be done urgently and since it made that much easier.
I focused all my energy into strengthening the three locations that would need to either be closed, sold or renovated. So I bounced a few ideas around with my grandfather, adding them where needed and when he was satisfied with my new suggestions before he would relent but I forgot how sharp he is when he picked all my ideas to shreds first, then he mocked my concept, and then insulted my pilot of it and refused to listen about shutting any down and selling the locations. So renovating the site, changing the concept of day to day running of each so that it would attract more business. Incorporating a catch phrase that would help in poaching all the university students that would benefit from working in our establishments that would help them through their degrees and be able to enjoy their lives on campus and learn how to survive in the world with some astounding referrals.
Designing some catchy posters that will attract students that are looking for work, that will be distributed around campus, online campus forum and by word of mouth. Having to focus on my departments had given me a sense of belonging, something that came natural to me and had always been easier to understand. As I stared at my draft I couldn't believe how many years had it been since I last designed something just for the fun of it. Adding my finishing touches I sent them out to all the university forums to attract more attention within the realm, this way it will travel faster and will be beneficial for all these students for a taste of the real world and start shaping them into amazing adults. The interviews were always the best, as we would all be in attendance to pick what person suited where, train them in that area and let them get familiar with the role before adding more responsibility so that they were more capable to work on their own and amongst a team of all shapes and walks of life. Everyone who came in for a job is usually given a two training schedule and we find the correct fit. If we are not able to find something suitable you will be task within two departments.
As I sat on the flight back to Auckland I sat staring out the window and thought about all the progress I have finalized as I headed back to incorporate the ones within our city to ensure has also started the flyers and posters being posted all around the campuses, the local high schools and public transport areas that will boost our marketing even further as well as all the forums. Arranging all the interview process that will be done this week for the new recruiters that will hopefully be joining our teams soon. Grandfather had specified the questioning, the aptitude test and whether they matches anything we had too offer and it was easier to upgrade the staff then keep ones that would stop all the new ies from acending in other positions. The week was jammed pack and I was ready to face what I would encounter now that I am back in Auckland.
