Grand Maester Mellos

----

A knock at the door grabs my attention away from the scroll I was reading and I roll it back up and tuck it away before standing to my feet. Heading to the door I open it curious who is visiting me, either someone hurt or someone delivering something. But this early in the morning it is a mystery as the servants of the Red Keep usually wait until later to deliver and not many people should be awake yet to get hurt.

My eyes widen seeing silver hair and a wide smile and I quickly calm myself recognizing Prince Daeron. His hands are behind his back and his chest is sticking out making him look quite large in the doorway. His face is showing a kind smile but his eyes are anything but kind as he stares into my own.

"Grand Maester Mellos, I have a few questions." He brushes passed me and into the room without a further word and I sputter in place at how he treats my room as if it's his.

"Prince Daeron-"

"I will do the talking." He is quick to interrupt as he looks around my room curiously and when he spots the candle burning at the desk he focuses on the desk and I am quick to shut the door and hurry over.

"This is quite unbecoming of-"

"So did you try and poison my wife?" He asks and I turn from the desk where I was moving stuff around to look at his narrowed eyes.

"Poison?" He nods the smile dropping from his face and I feel a chill as I really take in how early in the morning it is and he came here to ask a question like that. "Prince Daeron-"

"You did or you didn't, either way, you almost claimed one when you cut up my Good Mother, and regardless of being given the order it was a poor decision on your part. I never really liked the Maester order all that much if I am being honest, 'Knights of the mind' sounds all well and good until your main focus becomes politics." He shakes his head and approaches me and I open my mouth to shout but as I do he lunges forward closing my mouth with one hand and slamming me into the wall beside the desk.

My eyes widen as I struggle against his hold and he smiles once more before using his other hand not over my mouth to pick over my desk.

"It must eat you old men alive to know you will never hold a fraction of the power someone on the back of a dragon does. Kind of like Lex Luthor and Superman but you guys are much more lame than Lex." He lifts the scroll I was reading over and I struggle with all of my strength as he chuckles reading it. "More perverted as well... did you really do this?" He looks at me with amusement and anger burns in my chest.

He moves quickly after dropping the scroll and grabs my chain only giving me time to let out a croak before nothing escapes. The chain tightens and he turns me around pushing me toward the window before pushing it open with my face.

"Want to know the most fucked up part about this?" I kick behind me with all of my strength but he remains sturdy like a brick wall. "Even if someone finds out it was me no one can do anything about it." I can take a breath but only because he shoves me out the window and into the open air.

"PRINCE DAE-"

Daeron Nymeros Martell

----

Am I crazy?

I think so.

I mean this was MURDER, even when I compare it to the stuff I did at war this seems pretty fucked up. But to be honest I got a bad feeling about him and it only grew after he cut up Aemma even if the King agreed to it. The King would have likely held out hope for Aemma to naturally birth the babe if not for that man's whispers in his ear.

I am heavily biased against the Maesters and it is not even fair as nothing they say will change my mind. Regardless if they are saints in disguise or devils on the shoulders of the leading class of humans, they have too much power for 'what they are'. They control the main way of communication and have a mouth to whisper into the ears of every Lord in Westeros. They at the very least have an iron-tight grip on the communications of Westeros and have for a very long time. It's like a perfect propaganda mill that everyone is forced to use since there is no other option other than them.

That needs to change, killing one won't do that but it at least lets me feel a bit better. But things need to change as far as the stranglehold they have over the communication network. That much has been cemented in my mind long before I even married Rhaenyra but now it is even stronger.

I am confident that he should have identified the early symptoms, maybe he did not plan to poison her but he was up to something. I might just be paranoid and should have waited longer after returning from a warzone to judge the man. But what is done is done and the man is dead now, the next they send better treat his duty with respect or he will end up the same way. I also might have just saved my Good Father from getting poor treatment that will lead to his decaying health over the years.

Rhaenyra Targaryen

----

Opening my eyes and stretching I feel my hand press against the warm chest of my husband and I smile. Turning my head I see him still with messy hair and as naked as he was born laying beside me. I shift over toward him and lean in to press my lips against his and he stirs as I do.

"Morning." His voice is gruff as he wakes up sends a shiver down my back as he seals my lips with his own. "Did you sleep well?" He asks after pulling back and meeting eyes with me.

"Better than ever." I also do not feel like throwing up just from moving first thing in the morning, I certainly was missing him.

"I had a nice dream." He suddenly says and I raise both brows and fluff my lips waiting for him to tell me about it.

Instead of telling me he snakes his arms around me and pulls me flush with him before rolling onto his back making me lay on top of him. His hands slide down to my rear and his lips press against mine as I grab the sides of his head.

"I want to hear what your dream was about." I press my forehead against his breaking the sweet kiss and he smiles as he grips my rear.

"This, laying in bed all day long rolling around and tasting your lips." I feel heat build at his words as I slide my legs up to sit on him instead of laying flat.

"Really?" I ask curiously and he nods as I sit up showing off my nakedness to him as I look down at his own. "Sounds like a good dream." The sweet moment is ruined as a knock at the door makes me groan.

"I got it." I sigh in relief knowing I do not need to get out of the warm bed.

He lifts me off of him and as I am dropped beside him I slither under the cover to his myself. But I still make sure to watch him get up from the bed and bite my lip seeing him stretch and then slip on some underclothes to hide his body. He lazily makes his way to the door as another knock sounds out and sounds a bit louder as if the door was hit much harder.

"What can I do for you on this fine Morn?" He speaks in a formally annoyed voice and I can only barely hear someone speaking back to him. "He is dead?" I sit up after the words reach my ears and my stomach drops wondering who is dead.

I half move to get off the bed to seek an answer but when Daeron looks over his shoulder and shakes his head I stop. He turns back around and continues listening to the person at the door and then shuts it a moment later.

"Who died?" I ask with a hint of worry still stirring around inside of me.

"The Grand Maester." He answers as she strips back off his clothes and my eyes widen.

"How?" I ask and he shrugs as his clothes drop to the floor and he slides back in the bed.

"Got pushed out a window from what I just got told, they don't know who did it but they are looking for who could have done it." He has an odd look as he looks back toward the door. "I hope whoever did it doesn't try their luck with me and mine, I will break their legs. We should act out my dream today just in case, I don't want some fool thinking he can shove you out a window..." He slides a hand over my hips and I scoff at him using someone's death to keep me in bed all day.

"We shall see if you can keep me entertained all day or if I have to go out and listen to the court gossip about murder." He pulls me back over to himself and grips my rear once more.

"Let's see what I can do."

----

"Nice to see you brother, I thought you would be lost between the Princesses' thighs all day." Myriah's sweet voice speaks up as we enter her room, looking out the window I can see the sun setting in the distance.

"It's a wonderful place to be lost." I go wide-eyed and slap at my husband's shoulder and he chuckles as he leans down to kiss his sister on the top of the head. "It is good to see you as well on this fine day." Myriah rolls her eyes and tosses a grape at him that he catches and tosses into the air to then catch in his mouth.

"A wonderful day filled with death and accusations." She says with a hint of amusement as I sit at the table beside her and take one of her grapes.

"We have not heard much, did they find who did it?" I ask and she shakes her head.

"Pity, now I need to keep Rhaenyra trapped in our room all day tomorrow as well." He does not seem to be all that against the idea even if he calls it a 'pity'.

"If you are going to waste the days away in bed at least let's get the trip to Dragonstone over first." I quickly nod remembering the plan me and Myriah came up with.

"That is right, I wanted to wait for you to be back so we can take my Dad with us to Dragonstone to see the cave." Daeron stops halfway from putting another grape in his mouth and slowly nods.

"That could be interesting... I fear he might think it fake though." I tilt my head and he shrugs. "We just so happen to find cave drawings no one else has and show you, he might think it's some kind of scheme." After all the reading I have done in my husband's absence I am leaning toward those drawings being about Aegons prophecy or at least relating to it.

A darkness with cold winds fits the 'Long Night' and 'The Others' almost perfectly, if my Dad sees it and I tell him about what I have read about he will see it too. Then we can actually prepare for the danger that Aegon saw and have Westeros ready.

"It will be fine, it looks too old for you to have made it and the cave has proof of the Cannibal living in it. No one would go in there drawing stuff with the dragon that eats dragons sleeping in there." I am certain this is what Aegon saw in his dream like Daenys seeing the Doom of Valyria, only we can fight this danger that is to come.
