Chapter 35 - A Man's Desperation

"A final Showdown?" "That's right. Judging from what I know about Klaus, this deal will sound tempting, He believes in his strength, and we can use his arrogance to arrange his downfall....." "Klaus does seem like the type to take a risk, but even still, Howling will be put at a disadvantage, I can't fight with them, Leo!" I understand that,Captain Kazumi.....Tomorrow's when you select the three who will represent Howling, right?" "Yes,why..." "Then I'm sure you will find someone who is strong enough to fight in your stead, however, if that person is going to be anyone, it's Pierson...", after saying this, Leo turned around and walked away. "Tell me, Lucas....That kid, Pierson, is he that strong, strong enough for us to put such a task on his shoulders?" "I don't know. I can tell that he's very strong, even though he doesn't seem like it, But to entrust him with the fate of Howling....no...the majority of the Second lab.....I can't tell if he's going to be up for it." Both Lucas and Kazumi sat in silence pondering over the next course of action. When Leo returned, he noticed the expressions of inquisition written all over their faces. To that, he only responded,"I have set the stage, it's up to you now, Pierson."

The next day went on smoothly. The Horsemen helped around with the work that was being done around the base, but when it was midday, Lucas called for Pierson. It was time. The burning midday sun scorched the members who had been assembled by Lucas and Kazumi infront of his Cabin. The azure skies were dotted with small, fluffy, white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze. Kazumi stood before them with Lucas and two others behind him. From his profile, Pierson knew him to be Vincent, although he was now getting a better look at his figure. He was tall and slender, and looked ruggish. His mid length, jet black hair was swept back, with one strand straying away and crossing over his face. His eyes were a monotone black, and he carried a short stubble. The person next to him was a middle aged man with a robust figure. He had long white hair rolling out to his back. It had been twisted into a large braid. Pierson gazed at his crystal blue eyes that shimmered from a distance. They were cold and dreary. Clearing his throat, Kazumi shouted out," Everyone! I want you to give your all, This Showdown is possibly the most important one yet, deciding the fate of Howling. I need the best of the best, power I can trust. Don't fail me."
