Chapter 50 - There is a wolf

Suddenly, a dissenting voice caught everyone's attention. To everyone's surprise, it was Wyatt Parker, the complex-minded class leader who never did anything that didn't benefit himself. Nobody could understand why he would speak up for Amelia.

"I think we are a team, and Saint Hua is testing not only our bravery and intelligence but also our unity. Amelia's incompetence will definitely affect our score. Are we willing to take that risk?" Wyatt Parker rationalized, trying to persuade others.

Upon careful consideration, they realized they couldn't let Amelia fire the signal gun. However, their complaints about Amelia grew stronger.

They felt like they were unlucky to be assigned to the same group as her!

Amelia nodded to Wyatt Parker in gratitude but didn't argue further. If these people really wanted her to fire the signal gun herself, she would never agree. She would rather go solo and break Saint Hua's harsh rules than fail to save Tyler.

"Tomorrow, try to speed up and catch up with everyone," Wyatt Parker left these words for Amelia.

Indeed, speaking up for Amelia was already a great help, and Wyatt Parker didn't think he needed to do more.

Nightfall arrived, and everyone's mood was not good. They all slept in a dozen small tents.

Wyatt Parker arranged a few people to take turns to keep watch and prevent accidents from happening. They couldn't let the campfire go out.

But accidents still occurred!

One of the male students on watch cried out, waking everyone up. They quickly got out of their tents and gathered around the campfire, their drowsy eyes suddenly wide open.

In the distance, illuminated by the firelight, two shining eyes glowed with hunger and green light in the darkness. They were staring at the campfire and showing their sharp teeth.

It seemed like they were afraid of the fire and didn't dare to come closer.

"Oh my god, why is there a wolf? This trial is too harsh, it could be deadly!" someone exclaimed.

"What should we do? I'm scared!" a girl couldn't help but speak up.

The situation was on the verge of panic!

In the conference room of the military base, the lights were still on and many people were on night duty, staring at hundreds of monitoring screens on the wall.

"Damn it, Team Twelve encountered two lone wolves in the X zone after being expelled."

"Keep a close eye on them and be ready to launch an emergency smoke bomb from the monitor."

"But the smoke bomb contains a large amount of hypnotic drugs. Once it's launched, the entire team will pass out."

"... Let's wait and see. Safety comes first."

In a room at the base, Tyler was alone watching the surveillance footage, his face dark and stormy like the eve of a storm.

At this moment, the team in the mountains still had no idea that if their decision-making went wrong, they would be hit with a sudden dose of hypnotic drugs, ending their ordeal.

Amelia heard the exclamation and limped out for a while before looking at the scene in a daze, feeling both solemn and funny.

More than a dozen young and ambitious students were facing two wolves. This was nothing. If they worked together, they could easily take down the wolves. However, these beasts, rare to be seen in civilized societies, instilled a natural fear in everyone.

The reason why Amelia was so solemn was that wolves were social creatures that hunted in groups. They were known to be cunning and patient hunters. It was not a big deal if there were only two, but if it was a pack, it would be a different story.

Amelia carefully observed the two wolves and breathed a sigh of relief. These two scrawny wolves were obviously lone wolves, probably starving and desperate to attack them.

Wyatt Parker was also nervous and quickly made an emergency response, "Girls, move back and make the fire in the pit burn brighter. Boys, grab the wooden sticks and move closer slowly!"

They had no weapons, and the wooden sticks they picked up were dry and prepared to be used as firewood.
