A lean woman in the grey mantle, her face hidden under a hood, walked down the street. A waterfall of light-platinum blonde hair went down her chest.
Heavy rain was falling down, rhythmically clanging on the roofs and road. The neon signs gloved in the darkness of the cloudy night and shadows of the tall, disrepair buildings.
Yet, she was perfectly dry, the fabric of her clothes repelling the water.
'I should find a less rainy planet. I am tired of all this water.'
Her eyes dimly glowed in the darkness, and her heart pounded. It was her first task, or more likely, just a test.
'The old shopkeeper was right… if I didn't join, it would only be a matter of time before I angered someone too powerful. '
She was a loner, and after how she ended up in her previous life, where she worked hard to raise up the command leader only to be disposed of, she refused to ever work for someone other than herself.
'But temporary it is the best option. They gave me a roof above my head, a salary, and a place to hide from the law. I just need more money, and then I can leave this place for good.'
She didn't even know who she was working for, but she didn't care as it was only temporary.
The girl kept walking through the empty night streets, the puddles of water splashing under her feet.
Then she spotted a group of five men standing in the middle of the street, even through the heavy rain. A smile formed on her face as they were her target.
'Let's get this over so I can get out of this rain.'
"Do you have my stuff?" A tall and bulky man, one of his eyes replaced by a glowing mechanical eye that quietly buzzed, yelled across the street. His sleeveless tank top revealed muscles so huge, bulging, and pronounced that Tia was sure they weren't natural.
The girl just kept walking in silence, her hand already holding onto the cold metal of her plasma pistol.
'Apparently, the boss, whoever he is, doesn't want addicts in their organization.'
"Are you deaf? Do you have my stuff?!"
"No, you are fired!" She raised her gun and pressed the trigger.
A blinding flash of blue light lit up the entire street for a split second. And as if the time had stopped, the man's melon-sized fist moved and smacked the bolt out of the air.
His huge grin was plastered on his dump-looking face, showing his sharpened, canine-like teeth.
"Hohoho, you have made a huge mistake, girl! No one will fire Jordan the Pyromania, as I am the fire!" The bulging drug addict burst into laughter as he dashed forwards, the concrete cracking and shattering under his feet.
He shot against the girl like a human bullet. The flames exploded out of his exposed muscles and danced around his huge fists, hissing as the raindrops evaporated upon contact with the blazing inferno.

'So, he is a super…' Supers were one of the three types of humans with special abilities. Their bodies were mutated, giving them one or multiple special powers.
A force enveloped the girl, gently pushing her body aside. Her eyes brightly shone with the energy as her own telekinetic power grabbed her body.
Just a split second later, the mountain of muscle passed by her, the road cracking and melting in his trace. The hot hair washed over her face, her clothes fluttering in the draft caused by the man's fast move.
The four goons further away raised their guns, and loud bangs shattered the silence of the night.
Tia's mind moved reflexively, her transformed brain extending her will out of her body.
All four bullets froze in flight, floating mid-air as if the time around them had stopped. Without waiting, she threw herself into a side street behind the corner.

Adrenaline pumped through her veins, but she kept her cool, 'Fire... maybe even a super strength. They should have told me that I am not facing some random thug!'
"Ha-ha, so you are a psychic. Let me bend you over my knees and show you my firepower." The super's voice was getting closer, his heavy steps approaching the street where she waited.
'Come in and die.'
Her hood fell off while she leaned against the cold, concrete wall, revealing her long hair moving in the cold breeze. She closed her eyes and stilled her breath.
"You can't hide!" A wide stream of fire burst into the side street, the fire and orange light flooding her entire vision as her eyes snapped open.
She braced herself with her hands, and an invisible force expanded out and pushed against the incoming fire. The flames stopped as if there was an invisible wall in front of her, the residual heat blazing straight against her face, making her flinch and take a step back.

Tia pushed with her mind, sparks of fire flying in all directions and clouds of steam filling the air as the fire and the raw kinetic force clashed against each other. The walls, the road, and everything else turned red from the heat.
A smile formed on her youthful face as it all worked as planned, 'I will tire him out. I should have more energy, and telekinesis is also cheap to use.'
The fire kept blazing and blazing. She didn't know how much time had passed, every second feeling like an hour as her hands trembled and the weakness from the heat filled her body.

The percents slowly rolled before her own eyes.
'Should I retreat?' Just as she thought about it, the flames sizzled out, leaving behind only the blazing hot concrete and a thick haze of steam.
Just as she wanted to breathe out, a giant fist enveloped in fire emerged from the steam, closing straight on her face.
Time slowed down, and her eyes widened, her irises pulsing with energy. She waved her hand at the last second, and a wave of energy exploded out and smashed against the giant man, his fist stopping just inches from her face, the flames almost reaching her skin.
Then he launched backward as if he was just an old, dry twig.
"Ahhh!" With a bang, he smashed against the wall, his huge body creating cracks in the concrete. Blood leaked from his mouth, twisted in a grin while he chuckled.
"Hahaha!"
The rushed steps of his goons quickly closed on her, but she didn't care. Instead, her eyes flickered in rage at the searing pain perpetrating through her face as if she stuck her head into a furnance.
'Damn you!'
Without fear, she stepped into the main street, walking straight towards the musclehead.
Gunshots resonated again, but all the bullets stopped before they could even reach her, the telekinetic force stopping them like a spiderweb catching flies.
They dinged as they fell to the ground, losing all their power.
"Run while you still can! As once I finish your boss, it will be your turn!"
The percents kept jumping up, but she no longer registered them, her mind fully focused on her pain and rage.
Tia pointed her small white palm at the musclehead, the invisible force enveloping his entire body.
He groaned and tensed his muscles but couldn't move, his body pinned against the wall.
Once again, gunshots resonated through the street, but she didn't even care, her mind moving on her own catching bullets, like when a child on a playground instinctively dodges a ball.
More and more energy flowed through her hand, her hair raising and waving as if someone reversed gravity while her heartbeat speeded up.
"Where is your laughter now?! Ha? You are no longer so brave!" Her glowing eyes were fixed upon the man who was pailing while making choking sounds as he gasped for air.
His eyes were filled with desperation, which made her even happier, her lips curving into a smile.
