"Dy-Dynamis..." Abigail said to him as she was shocked at his words.
"Sorry. But it is true you know. Compared to my sisters my achievements are next to none. I'm not athletic, nor am I as smart as them. Amongst the three of us, I'm the bona fide failure." Dynamis said to her as he sighed.
"Hey. You're not a failure. I mean, you have good marks." Abigail said to him with a frown.
"Yeah. Well if you compare it with my two sisters then the percentage is nothing. Our parents always say that the two of them are their pride and joy. You know, I have heard of them praising Olivia and Shriya whenever they are mentioned and they are always very happy. But when I am mentioned, well safe to say that they aren't that thrilled to talk about me. They do mention me, but they say that I am not trying my best and that I am always slacking off. They would then compare me to my sisters and then say that they are much more diligent and whatnot and praise them. To be honest, it has been a long time since I heard either of them actually praising me. Whenever we talk it's like they're disappointed in me or something." Dynamis said as he looked at the sky with a sad face.
'You gotta be kidding me. Is that how he is actually treated?' Abigail thought to herself in shock.
"So, all of this. Me not getting Olivia's help, finding my own jobs while studying, denying her help and getting my own money. It was all in an attempt to prove to myself." Dynamis said as he looked at the sky, tired.
'Those stars look nice. If only I could just forget all of my troubles.' Dynamis thought to himself as he looked at the stars.
"Prove what to yourself?" Abigail asked him as she looked at him in worry.
"That I have some value. That I actually can do something without any help from my family and that I can stand on my own two legs. But that has been going exceptionally well right now." Dynamis said before ending it in a sarcastic tone.
"But, you have been doing fine right. You have an apartment and a part time job. Though why didn't you tell Olivia about your girlfriend or rather ex-girlfriends?" Abigail asked him.
'I mean, even if they did dump him, there would be no reason for him to not tell about them to Olivia and Shriya when he first got them.' Abigail thought to herself as she looked at him.
"I was planning to but I didn't want to rush and wanted to see if we we're a good match. Thankfully I didn't and so they don't know about it. Otherwise I would just be laughed at for being dumped by 3 girls." Dynamis said as he kept his gaze at the sky.
"They wouldn't laugh at you. They are not like that." Abigail said to him.
"Well, Olivia won't but I'm more than sure that Shriya will. She doesn't have an ounce of respect for me. She always makes fun of me, calls me slacker and says that I am not of their level. If she learns that I had been dumped by three girlfriends. I don't want to imagine her reaction to that." Dynamis said as he sighed.
Abigail stayed silent as she processed his words before she came up with a response.
"Do you... hate Olivia and Shriya?" Abigail asked him gently.
Dynamis' eyes widened when he heard that before he looked at Abigail who is looking at him. He then lowered his eyes and looked at the sky again.
"No. No I don't. If I'm being honest, I am jealous of them. They have talent, they are loved by the people they know and our parents praise them. And here I am, who isn't as talented as them, people barely mention me and my friendship, I wasn't to maintain them and my parents don't think that I am much compared to my sister. Basically, they have everything I lack. It's honestly poetic." Dynamis said as he chuckled.
Abigail looked at him with a sad face before she hugged him. He froze up when he felt her hug him but he calmed down and his body loosened as he realised it is her.
"I'm sorry about all that." Abigail said to him before she broke from the hug.
"It's fine." Dynamis said to her as he sighed again.
"Still, thanks for telling me this." Abigail said to him with a smile.
"It's no problem. I trust you. Can you keep this a secret? I don't want anyone knowing about this." Dynamis said to her as he looked at her with a small smile.
'It feels a bit better after telling her.' Dynamis thought to himself as he looked at her.
"Yeah. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Abigail said to him with a smile.
Dynamis nodded to her before he leaned on the bench and looked at the sky as Abigail watched him. They stayed like that for a few seconds before Abigail stood up as he looked at her.
"Well, I won't take more of your time. You should really get back home before it gets anymore dark." Abigail said to him as she looked at him.
"Got it. Thanks for listening by the way." Dynamis said to her with a smile.
"Sure. That's what friends are for." Abigail said to him before she walked away.
Dynamis watched her as she left he park before he leaned on the bench and sighed before he looked at the starry sky.
Abigail however walked away from the park and then pulled out her phone, on which a call for Olivia was active as she put it to her ear with a nervous face.
"You heard all of that?" Abigail said with a nervous face.
"Yeah. I did." Olivia's voice came from the phone.
"I didn't know that his life was like that. Why did you let him be like that?" Abigail asked her with a sad face.
"I honestly didn't think that it had affected him this much. He never acted like he was in any kind of problems and was fine.... I... never thought that he would be feeling like that." Olivia said in a tone of remorse.
"Are your parents really like what he said?" Abigail asked her when she heard the last bit.
"I don't know. I talk with them and they are always quite happy to talk with me and would always praise me. But I guess their reaction would be quite different towards him. I can't believe that they had been treating him like that." Olivia said to her.
"You really didn't notice it?" Abigail asked surprised.
"I guess I was negligent on that front. Our parents always praised me and Shriya but would tell Dynamis to do better. I never thought all of it would result in this. But what I can't stand is the fact that those three girls actually did that to him." Olivia said as her tone became one of anger.
Abigail heard the sound of something being broken from the phone as she stayed on the line.
"I will admit that I have neglected him but I know that he is a good person. He would've catered to their needs and would've helped them and yet they do this to him. He... He sounded like he didn't have any confidence in himself." Olivia said as her anger gave way to sadness.
"Yeah. From how he talked, his self esteem doesn't seem to be much." Abigail said as she ran her hand through her hair.
"Yeah. To hear that his mental state has become this bad and his self esteem had lowered so much because of our parents, us and his ex-girlfriends. It was all truly a shock." Olivia said to her as the sister sighed.
"Yeah. But... You know that I had just broken my vow to him right? He didn't want this to be known and now you two know about it." Abigail said as she clenched her right hand.
"We didn't think that it would be something this personal." Olivia said to her.
"Yeah, well he's my friend and he trusted me enough to actually say all of those things to me. And now I just... You know very well how I don't trust men that much. He is one of the only few that I trust Olivia. I don't want to lose the friendship I have with him." Abigail said to her as she looked conflicted.
"I'm sorry. But we won't tell him about you. We will just try to get things out of him ourselves next time." Olivia said to her as Abigail still looked conflicted.
"Alright then. Just try to be better sisters for him okay. He needs it." Abigail said to her.
"Yeah... You aren't going to ask me to come to your bed this time?" Olivia said before asking that.
"I'm not in the mood. Let's just end this call." Abigail said to her as she let out a frustrated sigh.
"Alright. Bye. And thanks again." Olivia said before the call was cut.
Abigail lowered her phone and pocketed it before she sighed to herself. She looked at the direction of the park before she turned and walked away.
While this was going on Dynamis was lounging on the bench as he looked at the sky, a tired sigh leaving his lips as he recounted the events that had just happened.
"Rough day?" The sound of a man asked from beside him.
Dynamis immediately looked to his right at the voice of the man. His eyes widened when he saw a beautiful man sitting beside him with golden locks and eyes with a fair skin and a good build. The man was basically every woman's dream man.
"Uh, yeah. My days haven't going as good as I want it to." Dynamis said after he composed himself.
"I see. So I guess you have a lot of misfortune." The man said to him as he eased himself on the bench.
"You can say that. Yeah." Dynamis said to him as he sighed.
"Do you hate it? Your current life?" The man asked him as there was a tone of curiosity in it.
"I dislike it. But I don't hate it." Dynamis said to him.
"Oh. And why do you say that?" The man asked him with an interested face.
"Because I'm not the only one in the world who has misfortune. There are people in worse situations than me and yet they're able to live in this world. I'm just glad that I have a chance to turn things around, even if it is slim. I just hope that I succeed at that." Dynamis said as he paid no attention to the man.
The man smiled at his answer as his eyes glowed a golden due.
"That's a good answer." The man said as he raised his left hand.
Dynamis turned to the man before his forehead was touched by him as he felt his world turn white before he lost consciousness.
