Xua Ying Yue's words caused the landlady to stop in her path as she turned to look at the girl who spoke against her. She had never paid attention to the younger sister, since she was silent and polite, it was usually the older one who spoke and fought a lot because she had to take care of her young sister. Being orphaned at such a young age, fighting for their place was something that many orphans learned and it was even understandable and this was why the landlady had been a bit kind to the two of them.
However, the kindness of a person was only limited to the point when their benefits were concerned. These two girls had nowhere to go and were kind and polite, they were never late when the time to pay rent came and sometimes they would even pay rent in advance which was why the landlady who could make easy money from them treated them nicely.
A smile or two, and sometimes handing them a bowl of chicken soup that only had a few chicken pieces floating in it. It only brought more benefits to her in return since Xua Yenay who believed that the world was a better place would often gift the whole chicken that she got from the restaurant where she worked as leftovers.
But now the benefits have all come to an end and these girls were a threat to her, which was why the Land lady wanted to throw them out as soon as possible such that she will be able to wash her hands clean but she never thought that the younger one would threaten her like this.
" Are you saying that you are going to drag me to the police?" The landlady questioned with a haughty tone and glaring eyes that pinned Xua Ying Yue down. She thought that a girl who was young and only a teen who had not seen the world would definitely be scared off by her actions.
However not only was Xua Ying Yue not scared she thought that what the landlady was doing was a tad bit cute. Compared to the monsters she had seen and fought in the school, the landlady did not even reach up to the lowest level of a bully.
Xua Ying Yue smiled at her as she nodded and stated in a firm voice, " Not only will I complain about you throwing our stuff out before the leash was over but also your actions that sabotaged our belongings. I don't think that the one who came to give you a heads up about the situation will come and help you in the police station as well?"
The landlady glared at the young girl, she thought that she would be able to make a quick buck since these girls were threatened by someone rich and were in a dire situation but looks like she underestimated their guts.
" Fine!" The landlady huffed as she turned on the spot where she was standing and then walked inside the house before returning with heavy stomps of her feet as she came to stand in front of the two sisters and threw the bills that were in her hands on the ground. " What else can I expect from two girls who did not have their parents to teach them manners?"
She glared at Xua Ying Yue and then walked inside the building while muttering, " And from what I heard she is not a good girl either, going around with men—-Ack, what are you doing?" The woman questioned when she turned around and looked at Xua Yenay who was standing behind her, a snowball rolled in her hands which was even bigger than the one that she had thrown at the woman earlier.
" Say one more word about my sister and I will rip your mouth! You old hag what do you think? Just because I fed you one or two whole chickens, I cannot take care of you? Or that I respect you? Putui!" Xua Yenay spat on the ground as she glared at the woman in front of her and then said in an angry voice, " Say one more word and I will make you spit out every bite of chicken that you have eaten !"
Xua Yenay was different from Xua Ying Yue who was thinner and short built, she was someone who worked in a restaurant and picked many heavier boxes in the restaurant. Her body was large and she was muscular looking which was why many women in the apartment building did not go against her even when she lived alone with her sister. Even men would turn around when they see her coming in their direction.
The landlady was upset and embarrassed at being yelled at but she was still scared of Xua Yenay who was taller and stronger than her, in the end, she could only purse her lips and spit on the ground, " Ptui, this is why you cannot get a man even when you are so old! You ugly spinster!"
As she spoke she hurriedly walked inside the building where she lived such that she will not be beaten up by Xua Yenay who was glaring at her. Once the middle-aged lady was gone, Xua Yenay turned to the things that were on the ground and looked at her sister who was crouching on the floor picking up the money that was thrown at them earlier.
Her eyes stung as she saw Xua Ying Yue pick the bills one after another without even the slightest bit of anger on her face, she wiped her tears and said, " Don't worry about them Yue'er, you will hurt your hands, leave this to me." She then crouched down and started picking up the bills scattered on the ground more quickly such that Xua Ying Yue wouldn't have to pick them." I will definitely work hard and won't make you suffer in the future."
Xua Ying Yue who was picking up the bills from the ground paused and then blinked her eyes as she looked at her hand that was still in bandages, she knew that her sister wanted her to live a normal life but Xua Ying Yue knew that there was no such thing as comfortable life ahead of her.
