" Stay here for today and rest," Madam Tian brought the two sisters to her restaurant which was located at the further end of the city but seemed to be rather popular because they saw a lot of people greeting Madam Tian who returned to the restaurant.
After the old woman parked the van and Xua Yenay helped her bring the milk containers down from the inside of the van, Madam Tian brought the two sisters to the small room at the top of the house where she lived.
It was as small as the apartment where the two of them stayed but at least it was cleaner without any peeling wallpapers or washroom with yellowing tiles. This was enough to uplift Xua Ying Yue's mood as she took a small tour of the room where she was going to stay from now on.
" I cannot do that," she heard her sister say as she helplessly looked at Madam Tian who was asking her to stay inside the room and take a nap. " I came here to help you and work, how can I take a nap?"
However, Madam Tian was relentless, she did not change her mind and sternly said, " One needs to take a hearty sleep before they can think of working, an energetic body is a must for working in a restaurant, especially like mine. Take a nap and do something about those sleepy eyes of yours because this way you will be more trouble than help to me."
Seeing that Madam Tian wasn't listening Xua Yenay could only accept her one-day leave and then thank Madam Tian again for her help. Once the elderly woman was gone, Xua Yenay turned to look at Xua Ying Yue who was looking out of the window of the room on the other side and then said, " Madam Tian is really a good woman, Ying Yue."
She then started to pull the mattress and blankets that she brought with her from the huge rucksack that she was carrying on her back till now and then started laying them down on the floor as she said, " You should take a nap, Yue'er. Tomorrow we will go to the university and then fill out your admission forms, I heard that the literature department of this city is not any worse than the ones in the S city——"
" I will be joining the business department sister," Xua Yenay was still speaking when she heard Xua Ying Yue speak up her mind, her sister's words caused Xua Yenay to pause as she turned to look at Xua Ying Yue, raising her head and tried to make light of the matter by smiling as she said with a jesting voice, " Yue'er, you..you don't have to joke with a sister like that you know?"
" I am not joking," Xua Ying Yue decided that she was going to walk down this path which meant that no matter what she was going to continue this path until the very end.
Xua Yenay's smile fell as she looked at Xua Ying Yue and asked in a shocked voice, " Are you being serious?"
When Xua Ying Yue nodded Xua Yenay could only drop the mattress that she was holding in her hands and then rush to hold her sister by her shoulders, she shook Xua Ying Yue lightly and then said, " Yue'er, you need to snap out of your daydreams. I know that you are angry and I am too but there is nothing that we can do about this! We are just common people who have nothing and they are people of high society, if they want they can ruin us with a flick of their fingers."
Xua Ying Yue knew this but that did not mean that she was going to change her plans either. She stared into the eyes of her sister and then calmly spoke, " I have thought of every possible consequence, sister Yenay and you do not have to worry about me. I will be fine and I will stay just as fine as I have been always ——- but this path, I am going to walk even if you don't support me."
Xua Yenay looked at her sister who was staring at her with those calm black eyes and closed her own. She thought that her sister was getting better but it looks like it was only her wishful dream, her sister was still the same. Just as lost and broken as before ——- she sighed and then opened her eyes before she asked Xua Ying Yue solemnly, " Are you sure that you want to do this?"
Xua Ying Yue nodded and Xua Yenay could only blow a breath out with a smile as she nodded to herself and then said to her sister, " All right if that is what you want, I will not stop you but if you ever think that you have had enough and you want to come back just know that your sister is by your side and please this time do not hide anything from me Yue'er."
She scratched her cheek and then with an awkward smile said, " I might not look like it but I am getting older, I do not think I will be able to take any more shocks and maybe if you don't mind can you stay as safe as possible——"
Her words were cut off as Xua Ying Yue hugged her tightly causing Xua Yenay's eyes to widen as she hugged her sister back. They could have lived a normal life where she could have watched her sister get old and then marry the person whom she loved but fate just had to play its own game.
With a pat on Xua Ying Yue's back, she smiled at her sister and then said while willing her tears away, " Go on sleep. You must be tired after staying awake for two nights. I will take a nap as well, after that, we have to prepare for your college admission as well."
