Xua Yenay then turned to look at her sister who was silently standing in front of the door of the office. When she looked at her sister whose hands were covered in bandages she thought of the bandages that she saw when her sister was cooking the fried rice. Back then her sister has told her that it was nothing but now that she found out the truth she seemed to have realised that her sister was simply hiding the truth from her.
Her sister who was still young was getting bullied by the students of this school and she as her older sister had no idea!
"Ying Yue let's go ..sister …sister will take you to a better hospital," Xua Yenay spoke as she turned to look at the headmistress Huang and then added with heavy contempt. " One that will know that they should not differentiate between those who are rich, poor and old."
Headmistress Huang was shaking with the rage that she was suppressing within her heart, she wanted to yell and scream. She even wanted the guards to throw these obnoxious sisters out of the school who did not know their places but she knew that she couldn't push them too much.
One of the sisters has already lost her head, she almost lost her hands but still refused to hand over the manuscript for the ending of the novel that Lu Biya was eyeing, she did not want Xua Yenay to lose her head as well.
As someone who only worked with the people of the high society, headmistress Huang knew that even if the poor can be suppressed and moulded into any form the rich wanted, there were always exceptions. And she had a hunch that these two sisters were the very exceptions if she was to push them too much then who knows maybe they will really harm her children.
Even a rabbit will bite if pushed too much into a corner!
Xua Ying Yue glanced at her sister who has refused the check that was offered to her and then nodded. Honestly, after going through the repeated bullying, Xua Ying Yue was expecting her sister to accept Xua Yenay to accept the check that was handed to her by Headmistress Huang—— these few months have taught her that no matter who you were, how smart and wise, you cannot go against someone who had power and money.
Unfortunately, Lu Biya had both of these. Xua Ying Yue has watched her sister struggle all her life, she thought that her sister who worked night and day will betray her too but looks like there was still some humanity left in this world.
Xua Yenay did not even look back at headmistress Huang who looked like a sunburned radish with that purple complexion of hers while she was ushering Xua Ying Yue to leave the office.
As the two sisters walked past the now silent corridors since the classes were in running at the moment, the sound of their footsteps echoed in the corridor but soon this sound was interrupted by the sobs of a woman.
Xua Ying Yue who did not cry even when she was getting her hands burned was startled when she saw her sister who was walking beside her crying her eyes out and before she could even open her mouth and console her sister, the latter opened her arms and hugged her tight.
"I am so sorry, sister is so sorry Yue," Xua Yenay felt like her heart was getting crushed by something heavy, she did not feel this helpless and sad even when they lost their parents because back then she knew that there was nothing she could do.
But now everything was happening in front of her eyes and yet she failed to see it because she was too busy running errands or earning money. She was so lost in giving Xua Ying Yue financial security that she completely forgot that she needed to stay by her sister's side as well, that she needed to ask her sister and look out for her.
She thought that she was doing a good job while taking care of her sister but now reality slapped her in the face.
" I am so sorry, I can't …I can't even apologise enough to you, Yue," Xua Yenay hugged Xua Ying Yue and suddenly remembered her father who was lying on the hospital bed. He was injured severely but unlike their mother who died on the spot, he was able to make out alive for a few hours and during those few hours he asked Xua Yenay to take care of Xua Ying Yue.
And she has failed! Not only did she fail as a sister but she also failed her father.
Xua Ying Yue blinked her eyes as she raised her hands and hugged her sister, honestly, she wanted to cry like her sister as well. She too wanted to feel something but who knows what happened to her something seemed to have broken inside of her today ——everyone thought that she was lucky that she was able to get out of the incident today without much loss on her part.
But only Xua Ying Yue knew that she did lose something, something very important.
When her hands were in the burning furnace, she cried and screamed but her tears only egged those who were hurting her. They laughed at her pain and jeered at her tears and that was when she realised that tears did not work on everyone, some people were demons born without a heart.
Things like tears and pleas did not have any effect on them which was why something inside of her snapped when she came to this realisation and the tears in her eyes dried up. Because she knew that crying was not going to help her, no matter how much she shed tears and begged for mercy no one will come for her.
There was no god in this world, only demons wearing the skin of a human. Which was why she will become one as well—-she will show them not now but somewhere in the future.
"Don't cry sister, it does not hurt. I am fine, it doesn't hurt at all." Xua Ying Yue told her sister as she patted Xua Yenay on the back. Because from today onwards her life was slowly coming to a pause till the day when she will redirect all the pain to those who have harmed her, only then this pain that she could not feel will burn again.
Till then … a demon will be wearing her skin. One who cannot feel anything.
