Chapter 14 - Glory of borrowed success

" What did you say, dad?" Lu Biya was sure that she was simply hearing things, there was no way that this was really happening to her right now. This was impossible…how can this even happen?

" Why aren't you happy?" Her father, the CEO of the Lu corporation, Lu Qin Yaozu beamed at her. This was Lu Biya's first time inside the study of her father where only her brother was allowed much less be on the receiving end of that proud smile of her father. However now she was receiving that smile—— the smile that she has always craved but the thing was that she did not do anything to deserve this smile if anything if her father was to find out the truth, he will surely be disappointed in her to the infinity and back.

" This is the first time I can see your potential, Biya," her father patted her on her head before placing both of his hands on her shoulders as he sighed as if something huge was lifted off his heart. " You have no idea, when I saw your grades slipping down, I thought that somewhere I went wrong with your education, how can a child of mine be so stupid after all? You are my, Lu Qin Yaozu's child, of course, you were born to be great! For you to fail your exams, it never seemed right to me but now I know!"

With a proud smile that stretched all over his face, he raised his hands and brought them down on Lu Biya's shoulders harshly. " Now I know, we were focusing on the wrong aspect of your intelligence, you were born to be a literary talent. Of course, no child of Lu's can be as useless as we thought you were in the past, it was my fault, I should have taken your talent into consideration as well. What a terrible father, I am!"

Lu Biya smiled at her father's words pretending to feel gratified but on her sides, she was clenching her fists harshly. She did not know how it happened and why, all she know was that the thing she supposed was going to end did not end the way she expected it to.

The matter regarding her plagiarism should have ended on the day when she received the award from the literature academy and gracefully gave a speech while shining like the star she was supposed to be. But instead, the matter escalated even further, the literature academy published the small excerpt that she submitted for the competition by scraping the one Xua Ying Yue submitted on their forum.

It should have been fine, Lu Biya told herself this many times but instead, it was not fine.

The literature academy's forum suddenly got viral and the people who read the small extract—— goodness knows why they ended up falling in love with it. They wanted to read more and even wanted to read the story till the end.

Lu Biya thought that if she ignored their responses she will be fine but then the academy of literature sent an email to her father, asking her to publish the whole volume. They even told her that they were willing to hand her more than seventy-five per cent shares of the purchased volumes since the response was this good leading to this current situation.

" I hope you will tidy up that volume you have written, Biya," Lu Qin Yaozu told her with pride glinting in his eyes. " I cannot tell you how proud I am for you to reach this pinnacle in your life at your age, now I can stand in front of my father proudly and show him, that I, the legitimate son am ten times better than that son of a bitch."

Lu Qin Yaozu did not refrain from speaking vulgar words in front of his daughter, in his opinion he believed that it was only right for his children to face the harsh reality of the world as soon as they can, the more cruel and skilled they were the better heirs they will become in the future.

Lu Biya knew that her father was cursing the illegitimate son of their grandfather and licked her lips. She originally wanted to tell her father that the story she wrote was stolen but when she saw how proud he was, she swallowed her words back ——so what if she took that girl's work? The only reason this book of hers was able to accumulate so much traffic was that her name was joined with it.

That's right, Lu Biya immediately shook off the little uneasiness she was feeling without any guilt. She knew how the world worked, no matter how talented someone was as long as they did not have the name and the power to win over the capitalistic world, they will be swallowed whole by others.

The reason this book was getting famous now was that its writer was the princess of the Lu corporation and not some unknown poor girl named Xua Ying Yue.

" I understand father," Lu Biya smiled perfunctorily and then tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. " I will go ahead and clean the rest of the volume up, we cannot publish some lack lustre work after all."

"That's my princess," Lu Qin Yaozu patted Lu Biya on the cheek, before turning to walk over to his table and picking up the cell phone that was lying on the top. He dialled a number and then as he waved his hand at Lu Biya giving her permission to leave, he ordered the person on the other side of the phone. " Arrange a big party in the Gradience Hotel, make sure that its better and bigger than any other party, I need to announce the birth of a genius in my family, cannot have my daughter's talent be hidden and make sure to invite that Lu He Fengge, I have to show him what it means to be the legitimate child and the difference between a real and a fake."

Lu Biya left her father to it and walked towards the door of the study which she pushed open and took a step out of the study, her head lost in thoughts but as soon as she stepped out of the room, she came across Lu Cheng who was coming to the study while talking to the butler of their family.

On seeing her, he raised his hand and the butler stopped where he was leaving Lu Cheng to walk over to where Lu Biya was standing. He did not say anything until he came right in front of her and then leaned in close to her ears as he spoke, " How does it feel to enjoy the glory of borrowed success?"
