Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Rescue

"Just a bit further and we'll be there." Yang Bin said to Yang Mengyao.

Not replying, Yang Mengyao squinted and looked ahead. Suddenly, her eyes widened. "Watch out!"

Immediately, Yang Bin stopped moving and looked forward. Seeing a small golden light zooming him, he frowned slightly. He raised his arms, prepared to block it, but before he could, someone stepped in front of him.

"Mengyao!" Yang Bin cried out.

With a solemn expression, Yang Mengyao channeled her qi into her hands and flicked her wrist, swatting the golden light. Deflected away, the golden light impaled a tree next to them and vanished.

Seeing the tiny hole in the tree, Yang Bin was frightened. "To think such a small golden light had this much power." He observed the puncture. Despite only being 6 millimeters wide, it pierced at least 2 centimeters into the trunk. If it had been my arm instead… Yang Bin trembled at the thought.

Yang Mengyao breathed a sigh of relief. "Thankfully I deflected it. If not, you might have been really injured. Are we still going?"

Yang Bin hesitated slightly. "Let's keep going." He eventually replied. Even though that one attack was a lot stronger than he expected, they would be fine as long as they remained vigilant.

The two continued forwards but much slower than before. After walking a few steps, they stopped. A couple meters ahead of them were two wolves lying on the ground. One was trembling and the other was motionless, seemingly dead. Further ahead was a clearing, in it were a pack of wolves and a silhouette of a woman.

There are so many demon beasts here! Including the two on the ground, there are six! Yang Bin was alarmed.

Squinting, Yang Bin realized the silhouette was Yang Bai. It seems like the one who shot those golden lights should be her.

As if noticing something, the trembling wolf in front of them began to stir. It slightly turned its head and caught a glimpse of the two.

Seeing that the wolf was about to bark, Yang Bin instantly dashed over and killed it before it was able to warn the others. "Let's get a bit closer." Yang Bin whispered, as he slowly crept around the clearing.

At this distance, Yang Bin with his Mystic Pupils could clearly see Yang Bai's predicament. The wolves are slowly surrounding her, and the boulder behind her cut off any chances of escape.

"Are we going to help her?" Yang Mengyao asked in a quiet voice.

Yang Bin pondered for a second. Both the wolf pack and Yang Bai are too difficult to defeat alone. The ideal situation would be to watch the two battle it out, and show up once they are both tired and exhausted, but Yang Bai might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of wolves here. If that's the case, I might need to lend a hand.

"We might. Not yet though." He replied.

Tense, the two silently watched the confrontation. Yang Bai and the pack continued to stare at each other, making Yang Bin restless. As he watched, a leaf slowly drifted past, and the wolf king moved, leaping at Yang Bai.

Watching this, Yang Bin frowned slightly. The weak points are exposed. Does the fight just end like this? He wondered. Dropping her bow, Yang Bai took a step forwards, but then she suddenly stopped and retreated, confusing Yang Bin. A moment later, he understood.

Another intermediate stage wolf! Yang Bin straightened up, as he saw Yang Bai narrowly dodge a pale green wolf's attack. At this instant, he saw something move in the corner of his eye. He turned his head, and was greatly alarmed. Another yellow halo!

"Stay hidden here. Don't reveal yourself unless I'm in a dire situation." Yang Bin urgently said to Yang Mengyao. His eyes were bright yellow; the phenomenon that also occurred during his fight with the injured wolf.

"Huh?" Yang Mengyao was confused at Yang Bin's sudden urgency.

Without explaining, Yang Bin turned around and pulled out two talismans from his pocket, one green, one red. "Speed. Power." Watching Yang Bai jump high into the air, he activated the talismans. With faint green and red qi swirling around him, he sped off.

Even though he was meters away, he was able to reach Yang Bai right on time. Leaping on a branch, he launched himself into the clearing. Extending his arms, He caught Yang Bai before the wolves were able to and safely landed away from the pack.

"Hey, now's not the time to doze off." He urgently shook Yang Bai, as he watched the wolves reorganize themselves.

Hearing this, Yang Bai opened her eyes. Upon seeing Yang Bin, Yang Bai became confused and stared blankly at him.

Realizing that she wasn't moving, Yang Bin frowned slightly and asked. "Are you going to do something?"

Slightly embarrassed, Yang Bai lightly slapped his chest. "You can set me down now."

Yang Bin did, and his eyes returned to studying the wolves. In his mind, he was trying to formulate a plan. One advanced stage, three intermediate stages, and two initial stage demon beasts. Meanwhile, we only have an eighth rank and a fifth rank cultivator.

"I'll rush in and throw your bow back to you. Take care of the initial stage demon beasts first. I'll distract the wolf king." Yang Bin told Yang Bai, his eyes never leaving the wolves, who had started to surround them.

Yang Bai's eyes widened. "You can't be thinking about how to kill them right?"

Yang Bin smiled confidently. "Of course I am. In this one area, there are 70 points. Where else would I find so many points?"

"But there are six of them!" Yang Bai cried.

"Are you helping or not?" Yang Bin asked. He then dashed forwards to meet the incoming pack.

Watching him rush out into the pack, Yang Bin grit her teeth, as if coming into a decision. From a small pouch strapped to her waist, she pulled out a small pill bottle. Rolling a pill onto her hands, she consumed it. Immediately, Yang Bai felt her qi replenishing, and she ran after him.

Meanwhile, Yang Bin rushed forwards, feeling exhilarated. With the speed rune, he felt like the wind, fast and formless. He slipped past the Steel Wolf, vaulted over the Wind Wolf, and dodged the Dark Wolf. The Wolf King charged at him, but Yang Bin slid under it without losing any momentum. Grabbing the bow on the ground, he tossed it up and back towards Yang Bai.

Seeing the bow soaring through the air, Yang Bai leaped up and caught it. Without wasting any time, she nocked two arrows and fired. Once again, the golden streaks made an appearance; this time killing off the last two initial stage wolves that were surrounding Yang Bin.

Seeing the two wolves die, the Wolf King gave an enraged howl. With fury in its eyes, it charged at Yang Bin, leaving some afterimages because of its speed.

Seeing the true power of the Wolf King, Yang Bin became serious. Pushing his phantom track to the limits, he danced around the Wolf King's attacks while surveying the field with his mystic pupils.

Yang Bai is on the ground and nocking an arrow. The Steel Wolf is about two meters behind the Wolf King. The Wind Wolf is on my left about five meters away, and the Dark Wolf… Yang Bin quickly turned and looked all around him, but he didn't see it. Disappeared.

"Could you hold the Wolf King down for just a moment?" Yang Bai called out to Yang Bin.

Yang Bin frowned slightly and replied, "I'll try!"

In front of him, the Wolf King lunged forwards, trying to bite Yang Bin. Coordinating with the Wolf King, the Wind Wolf on Yang Bin's left also pounced on him.

Unfortunately for the two demon beasts, Yang Bin knew their plan. Dodging the Wolf King's bite, he ran at the Wind Wolf.

"A mere intermediate stage demon beast dares to attack me?" Yang Bin muttered under his breath. "Iron Palms!"

The Wind Wolf's claws and Yang Bin's palms crashed into each other. However, Yang Bin didn't budge; instead, he grabbed the paws of the wolf and, using all his strength, flung the Wind Wolf at the Wolf King.

Realizing their plan failed, the Wolf King hurriedly tried to slow down, but it was too late. The Wind Wolf collided with the Wolf King causing it to stop moving for a second.

"Yang Bai!" Yang Bin cried out.

"Got it!" Channeling her qi, Yang Bai fired an arrow much brighter than her previous arrows. In a blink, it arrived at the Wolf King.

Feeling threatened, the Wolf King howled and began to transform, rapidly growing larger. Its fur changed from white to a more silvery metallic color.

But right before it was able to land, a crimson armored wolf stood in front of the arrow's path and blocked it.
