Chapter 14 - We’re in business.

So it has begun, no more 12 o'clock at night customers. I finally will get customers that don't have a bounty on their head. I will get more money and leave this place and explore the world. The farthest I've gone was to the end of the alleyway when I stumbled upon Razuri.

I do enjoy giving food to people but I would say I want to do this forever. I was a ok cook at best before I died. The only reason anything I cook makes people's tastebuds ecstatic is because of my maxed out cooking skill which I was unfairly given.

Now that I think about it couldn't I just use my cheat skill to take me back to my old world? I bet I could but I'll do it after I enjoyed this life. I was treated horribly there so I'm in no hurry to go back.

The only thing that I would want to go back for is simply… I just realized I can't think of anything I would go back for. How sad was my life now that I think about it. Is there more people in my old world like me or was I just a lost cause?

This is not the same world though, this is a magical new world and with it a new me. I have many things that I would say here for. Like my cat and my customers and, again I can't think of more things I like. I only just arrived in this world a little while ago so I have a excuse unlike with my old world.

Speaking of the old me, I wonder what happened to my body after coming here? Did the guy who killed me get in trouble or did he hide my body? Oh well I do wish he was punished for what he did but that's not my problem anymore.

Right now my problem is getting this tavern presentable for people to eat in. Technically I don't have to as it is already clean especially the floor. I remember telling the floor to eat all the trash on the floor and it looks like it is but a haven't seen it in action yet.

I quickly used my skill to get rid of any dust and made everything look a little more neat and homey. First impressions are important if they thought this place was a dump they would never come back. I know I'm over exaggerating but I really want customers.

I worked all day except for a eight hour play time with Razuri for my emotional health. It was easy but it was still work. Then like a clock the bandits arrived for their midnight dinner. I enjoy them being here but It's exhausting serving them so much back and forth.

I realized a while ago how I can keep on working despite me being so overworked. I only get about two hours of sleep a day and rarely rest. Playing with my cat takes way more out of a man than you would think. Anyway the reason I don't fall flat on my face from exhaustion is by using mana.

Turns out that by subconsciously absorbing mana it substitutes all my needs like hunger, thirst, and sleep along with keeping me energized. I still try to sleep as much as I can and still eat as i worry what would happen if I never ate or slept at all.

I had to tell them that I they wouldn't be able to come when it was daytime anymore as I would have actual customers. The only reason that they even know of my unsuccessful business is that every blue moon a few people of the bone knifes would actually come in the afternoon and have some quick food. I had to tell them that they can't do that for the obvious reason of if they got caught they would be go to jail.

Turns out that Korosu didn't know that some of his crew were coming in the daytime and scolded them for being idiots. He then told me that he would make sure that they listened and would no longer come in the middle of the day.

Another thing speaking of Korosu is I don't like his emergency contact device he gave me. I almost forgot about it from not wearing it at all. I tried it on my wrist and it felt like wearing a brick, both in weight and looks.

However I do like the watch like look of it so I built on it. I used my skill to make it look and work as a normal watch but put the contact button underneath it out of the way. Now it looks better along with functioning better too.

Now I never take it off as I don't know what I would do without it. It is so helpful in knowing the time in general and knowing when Korosu and his crew will arrive which I now know is around midnight. It also helps me count my hours of loneliness and insanity. That will end soon though luckily.

I then continue serving them and they eventually left and I got a small bit of sleep. Now I realize that I don't have a official opening and closing time for the tavern. I don't have any coworkers to take shifts with either so I don't get to rest. I just don't want to close the tavern and lose potential customers.

I slept for a few hours and got up and waited for Taida and her custo- I mean friends to show up. I don't know how long I can wait for them to show up. This is the official start of my job as the tavern keeper.

Wait, what is she lied and won't really come with her friends. Maybe I came on a little too strong and scared her away. She could have made up bringing other people and just wanted to leave. That would explain why she left so much in a hurry.

Just before I started going in a panic I heard the sweet sound of the chime on the door ringing. I then look towards the door and see Taida walking in. After she finished walking through the door frame and then I saw her friends.

Apparently she brought four of her friends to bring here which is better than none I suppose. Maybe they were actually a party as the all had adventurer clothing which I guess pretty much everyone wears in a fantasy world. The first three were normal looking with nothing special two boys and a girl, but the fourth one was a complete different story.

This man had a abnormal amount of muscles and was quite tall. He looked like a giant with his body frame. I understand needing muscles to fight against monsters but I will never understand how they get so much muscle. In my old world the only way you could look like that is with a unhealthy amount of steroids and even then I'm not sure that they would look like that.

Forgetting the muscle man they looked normal and all came in. Taida then sat everyone down and said hi and introduced everyone. I then said to all of them "welcome to Kuishinbō Tavern would you like to order anything?"They then all murmured to themselves and said that they would like to order a steak. I then went in the back and 'cooked' the steaks for them and walked out and gave it to them.

They took a bite and guy1 said "You were right the food here is pretty good." Taida then said "I told you, the food here is surprisingly good" I was happy to hear them complimenting my food as this makes me think that I sealed the deal of them coming back here again.

"This place really is the best it's also super cheap too." Said guy2. That made me flinch as I had no idea my prices were in any way low. I haven't really left my tavern which means that I don't know the prices for normal food and anything for that matter. I need to leave this store one day to get some more social interaction and common sense in this world.

After I got a few more compliments I said to them "I'm glad you like it I hope you come more after today as well." I was truly happy for this small success today as this is only the beginning of my journey. "Of course we'll come back I can't pass good food like this." Taida said.

Just to spread the word I said "Make sure to tell other people about this place as I am having trouble getting business." To my relief she said "Of course I will, I can't let this food go untouched from every else. I'm sure others will also like it too."

My pride was sky rocketing due to all the positive feedback I received which is not healthy for me at all. I decided that I would give them all some ale on the house. I really need to stop doing that as I am just losing money at this point.

To not go completely broke from giving out free ale I decided to not to give Taida a free ale. At first she was confused and a little disappointed and said I was being unfair, but I said that I already gave her one the first time she came so she couldn't complain. She was upset and pouted which made all her party laugh. To my surprise though she bought it still.

Exactly what I thought would drink it happened as when the took their first sip they all lit up with a face full of delight. Once again, I'm not good at making any kind of edible substance, It's all the work of my cooking skill.

They all marveled at how amazing the Kenkō Ale was and just like Taida said when she first had it they all said it was fruity. The secret is that I didn't want a super alcoholic drink so the ale is basically a drink made of fruit and some berries with a small amount of alcohol. It would take a lot of it to actually get someone drunk.

I received a lot of praise once again and they then ordered another round of ale which this time they paid for. After they finished that round they said their goodbyes and left. It's sad that they had to leave so soon but at least they will come back along with bringing hopefully many more customers here.

It was beginning to get dark so I put up a 'closed' sigh on my front door and sat in my chair in the corner of the room. The cat then jumped in my lap and started purring before I even began petting her. I then waited for Korosu and his friends to get here to start working again.

It's going to get a lot more busy here, I just hope I can keep up.
