Chapter 8 - The book and orb

As he settles in the new house that doubles as the workplace for him. he goes to his room to check out the 2 items he had gotten from the fight with that monster. As he takes them out he sets down the orb and hold the book looking for any writing on it. He sees no title, author, or really anything but a intricate design.

The book itself is not that thick and is entirely red on the covers, and he wonders who wrote this thing as he opens it up. Immediately his mind is assaulted with information that goes straight to his head.

-----------------------Teleport(Rank S)----------------------

able to teleport short distances (up to 10 feet)

it costs 100 mana per use and extended use can cause nausea

You are unable to teleport into solid objects but you are able to teleport anything you're touching with you.

Note: you or object you teleport keep their original momentum.

"Teleporting!? is this how thay beast was able to catch up to me despite how slow it was?" he asked himself before he tries to read the book more. nothing happens after reading the book for over 30 minutes and he gives up.

He moves onto the orb and he holds it in his hand pondering what to do with it. He starts to feel something though, a energy inside. Like if you put your tounge on those big batteries you would feel the electricity in it. This orb gave a similar feeling but in his hand, and he starts to focus on this feeling.

Before long he notices the, originally redish, orb start to turn grey and dull and the feeling from the orb starts to fade away until it just feels like holding really big marble. He notices that he feels super exhausted even though he didn't feel this way a few minutes ago.

He decides that maybe it's time to rest so that he can start working and earning money, but before that he decides to get somethings out of the way first. he goes to the bathroom, he washes up in the wooden tub of water that people use for bathing (every house has its own tub).

After all things are taken care of he gets into bed and starts to doze off while thinking of what tomorrow is going to bring him. he starts thinking about what his life would have been if he didn't get dragged to this place in his sleep. Would his life just have been boring and repetitive? would anything have changed? he didn't think so.

And with that he falls asleep, unconsciously thanking the higher being he had prayed to that night, for changing his once monotonous life.
