Chapter 10 - Tradition

By the time, she had got up and freshened up, it was already eight, which meant that it was time for breakfast. She looked at the bed, 🛏️ but there was no sign of Adrian. He had obviously gotten up much before her and was already down for breakfast.

She quickly pulled out a buisness suit and went down.

To her surprise, she found Adrian waiting for her near the stairs. He was all dressed in a black suit, and his smooth black hair was falling into his eyes making him look incredibly handsome.

"What are you waiting for?", asked Lucy, as she came down.

"For an extremely nasty bat who can neither sleep nor wake at the correct time", said Adrian, smirking.

"Sis-in-law! Where have you been?", asked the groom's sister, appearing out of nowhere.

"What happened ? Why are you looking so panicky?", she asked.

"I am really sorry to disturb you two, but mom is calling you in the kitchen", said she.

"What? Why?", asked Lucy.

"That I don't know, I think you will have to come to the kitchen to find out", said she.

"When did you start becoming secretive, Lia?", asked Adrian.

"You have got no right to say that, seeing you are the one who likes to be cramped up all the time in your room", said Lia, nastily.

"Let's go, Lia. There is no use trying to talk to a useless brat like him", said Lucy, enjoying the smug look on his face.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that in front of my sister", he snarled.

"What if I do? You do remember what I told you last night",she said, smirking.

"Which bit?", he asked.

"Oh, give it a rest you both. I know you look cute fighting together but mum will kill me if I delay any longer", said Lia.

She took Lucy's hand and steered her towards the kitchen. Adrian stomped his feet and strode towards the dining table.

"Did you sleep well?", asked Lia, with a naughty expression on her face.

"Yeah I did", said Lucy.

"Hmmm", said Lia, dissatisfied," I thought that he wouldn't let you sleep all night".

Lucy blushed furiously, realising what Lia meant.

"We did nothing of that sort", said Lucy, as they reached the kitchen.

"Ah... Lucy, there you are. I really didn't want to trouble you but this is important", said her now mother-in-law as she stepped in.

"Anything", she said, smiling.

"There is a tradition in our family . According to this, the newly wedded wife has to cook something for her husband, on the first day of her marriage life. It strengthens the bond between them", explained she.

"What! Coo... Cooking ", she repeated, bewildered.

If there was something in the world which Lucy was rubbish at, it was cooking. Indeed she had always been so busy with her professional life, that she never got the time to cook.

"Don't you worry, Lucy. Nobody will say anything to you even it turns out to be ..er...nasty 🤢", consoled her mother in law.

"Who's going to eat it?", she asked, slowly.

"Only Adrian, so you don't have anything to worry about at all", smiled ☺️ Adrian's mother.

"Oh", said she, and eased out.

Then a cunning plan entered her mind. She still had not forgiven him for last night.

"I am going to get my revenge", she smirked
