John was a B-rank psyker and unlike many other psykers he didn't have any prestigious background.
He was just an orphan that had to work his way up the ladder through a lot of hustle and intense hard work despite the biased treatment he received from society.
John had always despised the arrogance of every elite clan member who always had every opportunity handed over to them even if they didn't deserve it or struggled to earn it.
John was also a student of Falcon Academy and during his years as a student of the institution he was forced to confront many discriminations that he received from his classmates and others before he successfully graduated.
This was the reason why John was pissed off at the students' consistent defiant attitude and sparing with each one of them was the only way he could get them back in line.
"If that's the only way to get out of this useless class then I'll gladly take you up on that offer sir." Another male student with huge burly figure remarked as stepped out of the crowd and approached John on the stage.
John knew that after witnessing how their mate was beaten one-sidedly by him, some students would be very reluctant to step on the stage to spar with him.
However, there were some particular students that were very overconfident in their ability and that would be their downfall, and as expected the very first scapegoat finally appeared.
"Judging from your size you must be a Hudson. You must be very confident because of your size and physical prowess."
The student had a cocky smirk on his face." Yes sir, my name is Liam Hudson and as everyone knows our clan members train their bodies extensively because of the ability we possess, so do I automatically get a pass because it's obvious that I don't need this class?"
The Hudsons was a clan known to possess strong defensive abilities that require a sturdy body to activate which is why the members actively undergo vigorous exercises to obtain such a body and John was aware of this fact.
"As much as you might have intimidated many people with your size, this is totally different." John replied with an unimpressed tone.
Liam suddenly rushed toward John with brute force and threw his fist at him. John reacted quickly to dodge Liam's incoming fist.
Miles watched the sparring before him with his focus on John.
John had both arms behind his back just like he fought the first time, but his movements were smooth and precise in avoiding every strike Liam threw at him and counter-attacking at the same time.
It was almost as if he was able to predict Liam's attacks. However, Liam wasn't doing a bad job defending himself because of his defensive ability.
Nonetheless, he was still taking a beating from John. The match ended five minutes later but Liam was down on his knees and pushed to the edge of the stage.
"It seems like you barely survived, Hudson." John commented as he took a step back from Liam immediately after the match ended."You passed, therefore your point will be awarded to you and it remains your decision whether to continue this class or not."
John turned around and walked back to the center of the stage to wait for the next opponent.
Liam staggered down the stage under everyone's watchful eyes. It was clear to everyone that Liam would have lost if there had been one additional second.
Many other students climbed the stage to fight John but many failed while some didn't last a minute before they were quickly defeated.
The few students that passed were mostly affiliated with elite clans and a few prominent students with ordinary background like Brian.
Eventually, it was Miles' turn. He slowly climbed onto the stage where John was waiting.
"Miles Castillion, I was wondering when you would be next." John said as Miles bowed to acknowledge him.
"I'm ready whenever you are sir." Miles said with a smile
"I see you don't talk much, so let's start."
Miles charged towards John at high speed. He instantly launched his fist, aiming at John's jaw but Miles quickly diverted his fist towards John's cheek.
John saw Miles' first flying towards him and he was prepared to avoid. However, he was totally caught off guard when Miles suddenly changed his attack direction.
In spite of the fact that he managed to avoid Miles' attack, John was still surprised by Miles' tactics. This forced him to take a few steps backward for the first time during this exercise.
"I could tell that you were different from the others." John complimented.
"I appreciate the generosity but the match has just begun." Miles replied shortly before sprinting toward John.
Miles' fist was already close to his face when John saw it approaching him at a faster speed than he had seen earlier. He tried to evade it by moving his face to the side.
However, his cheek was cut by the force of the attack that he barely managed to escape.
Miles didn't give John time to assess the situation before attacking him again.
John instantly dodged another punch from Miles by moving his face to the opposite direction instinctively.
Miles, however, immediately reacted by also rolling around in order to hit John using the back of his fist.
John felt the strong wind of the attack heading towards him and knew it was impossible to avoid it on time. He had no choice but to disregard his own rules and block the attack with his hands.
John's intention was to grab Miles' wrist but the force pushed him sideways instead. He continued sliding on his feet until he almost reached the edge of the stage .
His eyes widened when he saw Miles in the air flying towards him with a superkick. John swiftly shifted to the side allowing Miles to fly past him.
When Miles landed on his feet behind him, John planned to make his own counter-attack move. However, Miles beat him to it, forcing him to bend his head backwards to avoid another roundhouse kick from Miles again.
"Shit, another counter....This kid is too fast." John muttered after seeing another sidekick directed at his chest.
John had to completely bend his waist backward causing Miles' kick to fly above his face. He immediately sprang back up to his feet, but abruptly stopped when he saw Miles' feet flying at him which instantly stopped a few inches away from his face as soon as the bell rang.
A tiny sweat string drop from John's forehead. "How did he do that?....How did he do that?..How did he do that?....." John repeatedly asked himself this question in his head as he tried to process what happened at the last second.
Nobody else might know but John knew that the kick had enough force to throw him off the stage if it collided with him.
The entire room fell silent after witnessing the spar between Miles and John. Although it only lasted for five minutes, it was spectacular.
The two fighters didn't use any special abilities, they just fought using only their pure physical strength and skills. They all finally understood what John was trying to tell them all.
However, the only thing that left them speechless was the fact that John was totally pushed back and dominated by Miles who was just a student.
Seeing a student fight on equal ground with an instructor was like a slap in the face to the other trainers.
"Thank you instructor John and I apologize for my arrogance but I just wanted to test my limits. I understand that if you didn't hold back I wouldn't last long." Miles bowed his head respectfully as he spoke.
Miles was putting up an act that would clear everyone's doubts about the fight. He admitted in his mind that he almost lost control of himself during the fight. Thankfully, the bell stopped him just in time before he reacted too strongly.
"Well done Miles, you did extremely well and passed. The way I see it you don't really need this class but the choice remain youra to make." John said while nodding his head.
"Thank you sir, but I choose to stay and continue learning from you." Miles replied and immediately turned around to climb off the stage.
John nodded again smiling as he watched Miles confidently walking away. "That kid is a very cunning and devious monster." He silently mumbled.
In reality, John would have preferred to rest but there were still a few more students he had to spar with. He sucked in a deep breath when he saw the next student climbing up the stage to challenge him.
