Chapter 43 - Difference

"Why do you look surprised? DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU THOUGHT A WEAPON COMPARABLE TO THE PIECE IF JUNK YOU'RE HOLDING COULD TAKE ME DOWN!" Lucifer yelled out in anger as he was clearly offended that Arthur thought of him to be so weak.

"No…" Arthur replied slowly to which Lucifer seemed to get more angry which Arthur simply opened his eyes once again to live his life in the outside world since he didn't want to deal with Lucifer's anger. Even though he had just had a long conversation with Lucifer, in the outside world, it was as if Arthur simply took a single blink. This was because the time Arthur spent in his sleeping state was much shorter than the time on the outside world as Arthur could decide how he wanted to experience time. Even if it was 10 hours inside the dream like state, it would be a minute or so inside the outside world which could allow Arthur to get out of a lot of troublesome situations.

Seeing as Arthur was done with all his business, he leapt toward his seat before looking Yosel directly in the eyes as if he was indicating that he wanted him to teleport him out of there. Yosel didn't seem to be fazed all that much, Willam was absolutely terrified at what Arthur had done. Even so, Yosel teleported the three of them out of the area before anyone could even react in the slightest from the crowd. As such, they all simply saw as the person who had placed them in a state of shock escaped without any repercussions.

"What the hell was that for?" Willam asked while still trembling in fear.

"What do you mean?" Arthur asked as if he had not just killed a child.

"You literally killed a child that barely got to experience life. You know you could have just knocked them out easily right?" Willam asked to which Arthur began to understand.

"Wait Yosel, is he not like us?" Arthur asked to which Yosel shook his head in disappointment.

"I'm afraid not, according to him, he had changed his ways," Yosel replied casually.

"Why are you two acting like I'm the weird one?! You just took the life of an innocent boy for no reason!" Willam yelled at Arthur in anger.

"I'm sorry what? Innocent? You do realize that he was the only child to a rich oil company?" Arthur asked.

"So what? It doesn't matter what a person is born into. It doesn't dictate how they function and how they choose to lead their lives!" Willam argued which caused Arthur to laugh.

"What's so funny huh?" Willam asked as he grew irritated as the seconds passed.

"Look Willam, I'm not trying to be rude however you should realize that your life is mostly dictated by what you're born into. Specially when you're at an extreme end of a spectrum. If you're born into riches, you're more likely to turn out to be the heir to your parents company or start a company of your own instead of going to join gangs and start killing people and also partake in a whole lot of other illegal activities just for money. You see, that type of business is for those who were unfortunately born into poverty. I mean after all, when you don't know where your next meal is going to come from, you start to lose hope and stop caring about what you have to do as long as you live. Poverty creates desperation. As for those who are born into wealth, they'll become successful in the end. However you should also be aware of the fact that companies which have such large profit margins are not all that ethical with them exploiting people and even involving children in labour. Tell me now Willam, do you think that rich kid was going to become some nice, kind gentleman that would look after others?" Arthur asked to which Willam tried to argue back.

"But that doesn't apply to all of them! It's wrong to judge a book by its cover," said William.

"Why does that matter when the ratio of that is 100 to 1? That's being generous in fact. The real number is closer to ten thousand to one. In something like that and also having so many influences around them, what would make anyone in thier right mind start to give that money away. Unless you have enough money to throw away to the poor, no one will ever donate a substantial amount of money to the poor. Instead, they'll be spending all their days and night off the sole purpose of getting more money. You see Willam, as much as we would like to lie to ourselves and make ourselves believe that everyone is secretly kind so that we can sleep in peace, that just isn't true and you know it. No one is ever truly pure. Much like that child. I understand that I can't predict the future however when there's a ratio as strong as that, it doesn't matter anymore, you can just start grouping them into the same category," Arthur explained.

"So you're saying to create stereotypes because you believe that just because a small minority of people or even a majority of people act one way? Even if the majority act that way, there are still a few from that group that may be different. Do you think it's fair to treat them like their counterparts because you just assume they're all the same?" Willam asked.

"I guess I can see where you're coming from and how you're advocating for equality. However in this day and age, that's just not something that's important. As long as it increases my power that's all that matters. I'm surprised that you didn't know this until now," said Arthur to which Willam simply let out a sigh before sitting on the cold ground of the island before Yosel sat beside him to comfort him.

"Look Willam, I'm sorry but the world just isn't that kind, you cannot change this world during this time, specially not now when all there are all these events which will take place very soon," said Yosel which hearing that broke Willam's heart as Arthur had been correct.
