Chapter 39 - Exploration

The next morning, Arthur woke up with a bright smile on his face as he was greeted by Willam who was strangely standing in front of him inside the cottage-like house they were in. It was a 2 floor house made out of dark oak logs and consisted of 2 floors with the second floor being connected to a small set of stairs which let up to the bed that was perpendicular to the bed on the first floor. Willam was supposed to have been sleeping in that bed but instead he was waiting for Arthur to wake up.

"Umm, can I help you?" Arthur asked to which Willam simply gave a smile back to Arthur before starting to walk outside the house which indicated that he wanted Arthur to follow him. As such, Arthur did so.

Willam was a man that was quite tall and stood at a height of 6'3. He was quite muscular however more lean than others. That allowed him to move his hands faster than others. He wore a white plain t-shirt with black shorts most of the time. As for his facial features, although he was a prisoner for so many years, he made sure he took care of himself. As such, his face was always polished with little to no facial hair as well as being relatively clean.

Outside of the cottage was Yosel who was sitting on the only tree on the island. The island was a plain grass field that just happened to be covered in snow. The only things that were on it being the house that Willam and Arthur were staying at as well as the single tree that Yosel was sitting on as he waited for the two of them. Although it was the middle of winter, the tree still had all its leaves in tact however they were all covered in a beautiful layer of clear ice.

Seeing the two approach him, Yosel leapt off the tree branch he was on before walking forward to greet Arthur and Willam.

"Are you two ready? I believe today is Arthur's match so we should get moving before he's disqualified," said Yosel before snapping his fingers and teleporting the 3 of them back to the colosseum.

Although the world in which they lived in was rather modern with it having a small number of cars and at least being able to harness electricity, the area which the 3 of them were in was made to be rather a medieval setting due to the colosseum. The colosseum itself was huge as it took up nearly all the space that the carnival was occupying. As such, it was obviously the main attraction of the place. It had an arena with took a circular shape and spanned around 50 metres in diameter. The contestants would come from either of 2 gates on each side of the circle that were connected to a bridge which would extend and retract to allow the competitors to enter the arena. However Arthur chose to simply leap off his seat into battle.

Even though the world which Arthur lived in was quite modern which meant that the people of his world could have focused on their powers instead of their intelligence and lived in a more rural setting, they still managed to keep a balance and as such were able to advance their civilization quite an impressive bit.

It had a functioning democratic government in place as well was a rather great economy with of course some countries having to face inflation at a rapid rate which caused an economical divide between countries and hence allowed the countries which didn't have economical troubles to exploit and take advantage of the countries who did have trouble.

The average city in that world was filled with large buildings or beautiful communities of houses. War was never an issue as the council of sorcery forbade anyone from even thinking about creating a war. The new council of sorcery wanted to keep the peace in the world and would do anything to accomplish that goal.

Back to the colosseum that Arthur was at.

After sitting down at his seat for what seemed like ages, it was finally Arthur's turn. He was excited and wanted to make use of all his abilities and spells however he remembered what Yosel had told him. As such, he decided to simply step into his battle and end it with a swift punch.

It wouldn't cause too much of a scene and would instead make him out to be weaker than he was previously as he had overdone it quite a bit previously and even if he ended the battle in one shot, the audience would think little of it.

This continued on for the next couple of days were Arthur stepped into his battles and ended them without having to use too much of his strength. This was until the final match for his division of the torment.

His opponent was a man about the same height as Willam. Unlike Arthur's other opponents, he didn't seem angry or frightened by Arthur nor was he presenting himself to be arrogant. Instead, he simply walked forward towards Arthur and began to punch as fast as he possibly could. Of course Arthur dodged his opponent's moves however when he tried to attack, Arthur noticed another punch coming at him and as such decided to dodge again. This happened a couple more times which Arthur found odd as all he needed to do was land a single punch to end the battle however he couldn't find that opportunity without getting hit first.

"I see, I thought it was a coincidence at first but it seems like you planned this all along. You set it up so you can punch however many times as you want and even if I dodge the first one, the second punch is coming from the other side. Even if you were moving really fast, you wouldn't be able to do this to me because I'm still much faster than you. Instead, you're launching both fists at the same time while making a slight delay between them so it's impossible for me to attack you, how interesting," said Arthur with a joyful smile.
