"And he said, that isn't my car!" One of my coworkers said then had the others laughing.
I let out a little laugh as I was making a hot latte for one of the guests. I sensed one of my coworkers walking toward me and stood next to me, helping me finish the latte.
"You're moving a bit sluggish today, is everything alright?" She asked and smiled at me.
I looked at her then looked back at the cup in my hand. "I'll be fine. Just didn't get much sleep at all last night."
"Out fighting monsters again?" She chuckled.
"More or less. You say it as if you're not surprised." I said and topped off the latte then put a lid on top.
"Hey, we're all guardians here. We may not be on your level of strength, but we do keep this place safe. For a God, it's surprising to see you working for minimum wage. You're still in school as well right?" She said, watching me call out the drink.
I walked back over to her after handing the drink out and nodded. "Still in college and trying to balance that, work, and being a God at the same time. Sometimes I wish I weren't chosen for this bullshit. It was much easier to watch you all fight and hide under the counter."
"Come on, you have powers we couldn't even dream of! Having a Nigh Complete Arsenal and being Nigh-Omnipotent is a feat within itself." My coworker said and playfully poked my cheek.
"I know, I just-" I started then heard an explosion and noticed Hilda crashing through the window and heard the guests screaming with fear.
"Ugh...screw everything." Hilda said and stood up then wiped her mouth. She looked back at me and smiled happily. "Hey Big Bro, mind helping me with this guy?"
I looked at the person she was fighting and sighed. "Him again..?" I said in a monotone voice.
"We meet again, Shida." The man said and chuckled.
"Don't you get tired of losing, Zach?" I asked and walked from behind the counter.
"As a fellow High Tier God, our rivalry is important! Your sister got in the way, but I forgot how durable she was. Now that I've ran into you, I can start getting serious!" He laughed.
Zach Crow, one of the high tier gods I am forced to fight to preserve the safety of Earth is one of my rivals for a few years now...well he claims to be my rival, I don't like him because he comes at the most inconvenient times. Our relationship is rather weird because I do like him around since he does keep things interesting and we are more of frenemies than actual enemies at this point.
"Alright, let's get this shit over with so I can get back to work." I said and rolled my neck.
"Now that's what I like to hear!" Zach laughed and looked at me.
I lunged toward Zach and grabbed his face then warped out of the cafe. We reappeared in the sky then I threw him and flew after him. I transformed into my God Form as I flew toward him then bellowed as I went for an attack. Zach stopped himself then blocked my attack and grunted. He repelled me with his aura and transformed into his God Form.
We flew toward each other and clashed with one another. We rushed each other with a flurry of attacks and were evenly matched. I was clearly holding back since I didn't want to fight in the first place. I blocked his next attack then struck him with a powerful blow to his stomach. He groaned as he was sent flying away. I teleported above him and hit him with an axe kick to the ground and he crashed into the street.
I landed on the ground and crossed my arms. "You couldn't even last 3 minutes without me dogging on you. Just give up and fly back to the planet you came here from. I have a job to do and a house of like seven to care for."
"Heh...A God working for minimum wage. The other deities would be laughing at you!" Zach said and teleported in front of me then attempted to strike me.
I dodged his punch then flipped backwards and fired an energy blast at him. He grunted as he was hit by it and an explosion happened. He ran out of the smoke and jumped toward me. He went for another punch, but I blocked it and began to grow annoyed of the battle. I ramped up my power level and boosted the strength of my aura.
"Heh! That's the seriousness I wanted to see! Now this battle will become more interesting! So take this!" He bellowed and blasted me away with an energy blast and flew after me.
Floe was cleaning her blade and felt my energy then looked out her bedroom window. "Master Shida is in another battle? This is the fifth one today. Must be one of those days."
"Don't worry, he's got it. Whoever he's fighting doesn't seem to garner our attention." Chloe said and stretched as she read a book on Floe's bed. "Probably Zach if I'm being honest. He's a little obsessed with fighting Shida whenever he gets a chance to invade Earth. Hilda probably already handled his little goons."
Zach spun around and hit me with a tornado kick and sent me flying. His power level was also increasing and his strength was boosted by a lot. He went for another punch and I blocked it with a barrier and awakened my Mystic Arts. Zach laughed and summoned his sword then flew toward me once again. I cleared my mind and my eyes shined a bright red. I countered hit first attack and elbowed his stomach. He groaned as black lightning crackled around my arm.
I sent him flying backwards then appeared in front of him and grabbed his leg then flew to the ground. I slammed him against the ground then bellowed as I swung him around and threw him, sending him crashing through multiple trees. I ran after him and noticed him land on the ground and dash toward me. He slashed downward and I avoided his attack then surrounded my fist with rock particles and uppercut him. He grunted then pointed his blade at me and unleashed an energy beam from the tip of his sword. An explosion happened and the birds all flew away in a hurry.
The smoke cleared and Zach noticed I was missing. He looked around then noticed reality began to become distorted then the battlefield warped and we were back in the city. Zach lowered his sword and looked around.
"Heh...Reality Warping. After all, Earth is your domain..." Zach said and looked at me standing on the top of a building.
"You literally can't win and frankly I'm done fighting." I said.
"Huh..?" Zach said with confusion.
"I'm not in the mood to fight and you're honestly annoying the hell out of me." I said then teleported away.
"Wow! Just like that?! No final clash like we used to have?! Shida! You can't just leave me here!" Zach bellowed.
I appeared back at the cafe and sighed. "Alright now that's done."
"That was faster than expected. You finally stopped pulling your punches?" Hilda asked.
"No. I just got bored and left." I said.
"Huh?" Hilda said and rose her eyebrow. "Elaina! Do you hear him?! He just left the battle!"
"I heard it." My coworker said with a laugh.
"If I wanted I could've easy just one shot him and get it over with, but I'm not in the mood to fight. I just wanna go home and sleep." I said and looked at the ticket that just printed out.
"I feel you. Zach and his goons came to our campus wanting the action so I handled his goons and went to work on Zach, but got my ass handed to me. He has been training so that's new." Hilda said and yawned.
I made the iced coffee and handed it out then looked at the clock. "It's 1 PM. My shift is over. I spent the last 20 minutes fighting Zach...I hate being a God."
"You can go home now, Shida. I'll see you tomorrow." Elaina smiled at me.
"Say less. I'll see you tomorrow." I said and gathered my things then headed out with Hilda. We walked to my car and got in then I drove home.
Things have been a lot active recently with Zach wanting to fight me a lot more and other enemies wanting me dead for my power, but that's the least of my worries since I haven't ran into any hard to beat threats. The true challenge comes with looking after the household and dealing with my real job, communicating with the Higher Deities for a daily report.
I parked my car in front of my house and got out with Hilda then we headed for the front door. I unlocked the door and let out a sigh. "Please don't let it be Aphrodite at the door. Please don't let it be Aphrodite at the door." I mumbled.
I opened the door and noticed Aphrodite at the door with her hand on her hip and looking at me with a smirk. She bit her bottom lip and let out a soft giggle.
'Dammit...' I thought to myself.
"Welcome home, Shida..~ I sensed you were having a rough day, so allow me to ease that tension with one of my 'Sessions'~" She said and winked at me.
I looked at Aphrodite then grunted as Hilda pushed me out the way.
"Out the way! I'm hungry, Chloe! I'm home!" Hilda said and walked straight to the kitchen.
"Hilda!~" Chloe said with excitement and ran to her then hugged her. Hilda hugged back and smiled.
I walked into the house and closed the door behind myself then noticed Floe coming out to greet me and Hilda.
Chloe walked over to me and pointed at me. "How dare you let your poor sister get hurt by that stupid Zach guy?! I just sensed she had a fractured rib and a scar on her back!"
"Come on, you're fussing at me for something I wasn't even aware of..? Besides Hilda has literally the endurance and durability of a Goddess." I said and flicked her forehead.
Chloe blushed and held her forehead then closed her eyes. "Y-You idiot..."
Floe bowed at me and smiled. "I am glad to see you and Mistress Hilda safe and sound. I would've came around to help, but you seemed to have everything under control. I sense no injuries on you. A flawless battle I presume?"
"As always, my brother hasn't known defeat since the day he got his powers!" Hilda smiled at me. "I'm happy to be one of his retainers and his sister because I know I'll be safe and sound with him around!"
"Hell no! You literally use me as an excuse to be lazy! This World Defending job falls on both of us!" I said and pointed at Hilda.
"Hey I do my part and leave you with the rest." Hilda shrugged.
"The rest being the hardest and most annoying part of it all! I may be the God of Combat and a Nigh Omnipotent God now, but sometimes I don't want to have to fight against these nuances." I sighed and crossed my arms.
Aphrodite smiled and giggled. "Well it is your duty to protect Earth by any means. You do have us to fall back on when you're not in the mood."
Chloe and Floe looked at me and smiled. Chloe's tail swayed as she looked at me.
"Yeah, I know..." I said and closed my eyes. I sighed and smiled. "Alright, I have to give my daily report so don't bother me while I'm speaking with the higher ups."
"Well can't speak with them without me~ I'll be in the office." Aphrodite said and headed upstairs to my office.
I looked at Hilda and the others. "Alright, can you three tell Alice, Sophia, and Ophelia that I'm home? They are probably either in the backyard or training or something like that."
"Will do, Shida!~" Hilda said.
Chloe and Floe agreed and the three of them headed off. I made my way upstairs and headed to my office. I walked in and saw Aphrodite sitting on my desk with one leg crossed over the other then gestured for me to come over to her. I closed the door and walked over to her.
"Must we?" I asked.
She smiled at me and held my cheek then caressed my cheek. "We don't get any alone time when we're not in this office..~ Besides I know you like it when I flirt and try to seduce you..~"
I blushed a bit then averted eye contact. "It's been the same song and dance for years now...since I turned 19...You just don't give up."
"You're the one for me..~ Ever since our first time..~ I remember it like it was yesterday.." She said and brought her face closer to mine. "I want to recreate that night with you..~"
I stopped her and nearly choked on my words. My face was completely red. "It's been some years, I'm without a doubt rusty. You know I haven't had time to focus on any of you ladies since that day.."
"I know, but you saved us all once...you can do it again..~ Besides we're in a time of peace right now with a few scuffles here and there. After this meeting, allow me to ease your mind alright?~" She said and kissed my cheek.
"Alright." I said then walked around the desk and sat down then she got off the desk. I turned on the giant monitor and called the Higher Deities.
They answered and I was in contact with the Higher Deities and the other Combat Gods of their respective worlds and their Goddesses.
"Master Shida. I've been waiting for your contact. What's the report?" One of the Higher Ups said.
"It's the same as always. School, work, a fight, and back at home to care for my retainers and report to you." I said.
"And your Combat Abilities? Are they still in top shape? Right now, you're the lowest ranked Combat God. You haven't had enemies that pushes you other than Zach. Have you been keeping up with your training?" Another asked.
I looked at Aphrodite and she looked back at me. I cleared my throat and looked back at the monitor. "Honestly, I haven't been keeping track of my training, but I have been training. It's just not...daily."
"I don't expect much from you, Shida." One of the Combat Gods said.
I looked at the Combat God who spoke and glared. It was Xie Bao, The Combat God of Planet-N6O3, Ragnarok. He is one of the strongest Combat Gods amonst the 12 of us.
"I never wanted to be one.." I said.
"Well you're one now, so it's time to start acting like it. At the rate you're going, it'll be a cakewalk invading your Planet and seizing control of it." Xie Bao said.
I balled my hand into a fist and slight aura began to form around my arm. Aphrodite placed a hand on my shoulder and I looked at her. She smiled at me then I calmed down.
"My Protector has been doing fairly well even without training. Remember, he is a student and he does fight other Lesser Gods on a daily basis and he does have a part time job. It is quite hard to keep up with his normal training, but you can say he does train with the Lesser Gods often. Most of his enemies have become his sparring partners at this point." Aphrodite said upon my behalf.
"As along as he's keeping up a strict regimen, it doesn't matter to me how he trains. I do want to inform you all that enemies from other systems and galaxies do plan on invading our Planetary System so be on the lookout. Remember to keep up your training and protect your Planet. You may never know when war will strike again." One of the Higher Deities said.
"Right.." I said.
With that, our meeting ended and I sighed. I looked at the ceiling and just sat back in my chair. Aphrodite looked at me and knew I was a bit stressed.
"Sometimes I just wish I had one lazy day..." I said and looked at Aphrodite.
"Me too.." She said and smiled as she rubbed my hair. I closed my eyes and relaxed. The hardest part of my day has just begun.
