The hallway quietened down and the silence in it was so deafening that even everyone's breathing seemed so loud at the time but Sandra's mother, who caused the awkwardness, seemed not to care as she kept looking at Dylan fiercely.
"Aunt I don't think we should do this here," Becky cautioned, trying to ease the tension but Sandra's mother shunned her. "I'm very sure that there must have been a mix-up somewhere because no daughter of mine would ever get involved with the likes of you," Sandra's mother repeated her stance and Dylan got confused.
"Have we ever met before ma'am?" Dylan asked after thinking about what could make the woman have so much hatred for him. "No, I haven't but I have met your father and I know what kind of family you came from." Dylan's heart skipped and he feared that his father might have some kind of history with Sandra's mother that would prevent him from getting together with Sandra.
If that was it his heart can't take it.
