The light from Crimson Star made it easy for Brunos to observe the figures in front of him. If the theory of the more beautiful the more strong was true, he could then say they were so strong.
It was his first time seeing someone with such a hair colour. However, he was not surprised since there were so many unusual things he had seen upon his arrival in the Succubi Realms.
Except for the purple one, the others were divided into two colours. Orange and red. Brunos took notice of that and confirmed another thing about these succubi girls. The colour of our wings determines our looks.
"Are you sure you're not the one insulting me?" Brunos asked trying to make sure that his voice was in its most intimidating state. He had seen how strong, beautiful and stern they were, but he could also tell they were a bit scared of him, which was not surprising. There were only three incubus in the Succubi Realms. Who wouldn't be scared to see a third ear growing on their body?
The purple master raised his leg and kicked his ribs. "Shut up and answer my question."
Brunos chuckled. "How am I supposed to do those things at the same time?"
"I've asked, who are you?"
"Your king!"
"Behead him!"
What? Brunos was stunned. Not because he was scared of her words, but because of her attitude. Who was she to make such a decision? Was she someone important in the Kingdom?
He wanted to know who she really was. This is because in his memories, only the king had rights over death and life. But he knew 200 years was no joke. Things can change even in seconds. The night he died was a great example of that.
He turned his gaze on his crew for assistance, but saw them frightened except for the Petite. The look in their eyes was, save us please. They knew his death meant theirs as well.
Since he could not communicate with them telepathically, he had to open his mouth. "Who is this disrespectful piece of trash?"
Lilyon couldn't tell what has gotten into Brunos's mind. Did he want to save them or he wanted to have them killed? How could he refer to a commander as a piece of trash?
She stole a glance at Morrin who was shaking with fury as she answered, "She's the Succubi Wing Commander. Her name is Morrin."
Before he could ask what was the meaning of that, he found it in his memory. Grinan Realm had two battalions referred to as wings. The Succubi Wing was made of females and he could tell she was not an ordinary succubus since the incubi wing was now made up of a few if not one incubus.
"I said, behead him!" Morrin's angry voice interrupted his thinking. That's when he realized the succubi with Morrin were not obeying her orders.
He brought his gaze back to her saying, "They have some reasoning with them. Do you think I'm on my knees because I'm a weakling? You better think twice or else you will regret this."
Morrin knew she had no right to have someone beheaded except when the queen says so, but this guy in front of her was very disrespectful. She tried to frighten him with the behead command, though she was aware that the Four Auburns could not obey such an order from her. Now that he seemed unshaken, she didn't know what to do next. She also regretted her behavior towards an incubus. Only three were known to exist. Where was this one coming from? This fact scared her and made her adapt diplomacy means.
"Except for the King you claim to be, who are you?" She asked trying not to make her voice sound scared.
Brunos inspected her expression before opening his mouth. It turned out that not everything about her was purple as he had initially assumed. Her eyes were bronze in colour, her horns narrow and a bit closer with some wavy hair flowing between them.
"Brunos Pegrinan."
When she heard his name, Brunos saw the skin on her face twitch in response as she exchanged glances with the Four Auburns.
Morrin couldn't believe she had offended such a figure. Of course he was a traitor and deserved no respect, but not in the eyes of the queen. Not when she is hearing. The name Brunos was hated by almost everyone across the Succubi Realms for he was the one who brought such misery on them, but no one would dare to insult him aloud especially in Grinan.
Before leaving them miserable, he was said to be the most powerful of all beings. Every succubus loved him and every incubus respected him. But when almost all incubi died, when all succubi lost their sons and husbands thanks to his arrogance, the indelible love they had for him changed into hatred.
They couldn't believe that their loved ones died because he had refused to marry Lantana's daughter. How obscene was she that he couldn't endure for the sake of his people? All the pleasant nicknames they had given him changed into evil ones. He was now a traitor. Selfish and arrogant.
However, their queen's interpretation was different. They were disappointed when she forbade them from badmouthing him. When she said she believed he had a sound reason why he did all he did. That she believed he would return. That he still loves them and if he comes their lives will return to normal.
Now he was back and Morrin was disrespecting him. She prayed he wasn't him. Of course the queen loved her. But, would she have mercy on her knowing that she had insulted her guest? Knowing that she had insulted a figure she have been waiting for all those years? She was a nobody except for the title the queen gave her. Her loyalty and strength meant nothing to a noble.
'Devils, please be on my side!' She silently prayed as she asked, "Where's the Red Triangle if you are Brunos?"
Brunos could hear the change in her voice as he remembered the triangle embedded in his forehead. This time she sounded more cautious and a bit respectful unlike the contempt before.
But wait!
The red triangle? Could the Petite have meant that she was kneeling in front of him because he was the king? How did she know and what did the Red triangle symbolize?
Thankfully, he had memories of it. This made him realize he needed time to explore all the memories and the system. So far, he had so many questions about almost everything that he thought would reduce as soon as he finished exploring. Saving that for when he had time, he only learned about the Red Triangle.
When Fellene and his two other brothers fought and defeated Brunos, he refused to give the triangle to them. Without the Red triangle, no one could wear the Pegrinan throne.
They left him in the cave severely injured thinking that once he was unable to endure the pain he would kill himself. The triangle would leave his body by itself if he did this, since it would be regarded as cowardice.
Did this mean he was still a legitimate king?
Not knowing how to show it to Morrin, he just thought about it and gave a command for it to show as we do while commanding our arms or other body parts to function.
He felt some kind of magic flow through his veins. The powers in his body concentrated beneath the skin on his forehead and that's when it appeared. He directed it to Morrin's face to see her reaction.
The stern demeanor disappeared, and as the frown climbed her face as a liana, she fell on her knees pleading, "Your highness, forgive this disrespectful piece of trash. She will never doubt you, her master, again."
The Four Auburns pulled him up gently, and when he stood straight, they all buried their heads between his feet one by one. They reached for his ankles like the Petite did.
He glanced at Lilyon with the look of 'what is the meaning of this?'
Lilyon saw him confused and hurried to explain, "They're pleading for your mercy. They regret their deeds."
A mischievous grin appeared on his face though the explanation left him wondering if Lilyon had told him he was a traitor, why did his identity frighten them? Shouldn't they arrest him instead? Also, how did the Petite know how to do all those things? Where had she seen him before? Maybe it was in his memories but it was not the time for exploration.
Brunos stared at the figures in front of him for a while before saying, "Enough!" Now his voice seemed to make their bodies tense. "Announce my return."
They leapt to their feet and engulfed him as they showed the way.
"Master," Morrin called as she tried to reach for Fellene teripaphic. "We have..."
"I warned you not to interrupt me when I'm somewhere near the queen." Fellene's angry voice resonated inside Morrin's mind. "Don't you know we're having a meeting in the Red Triangle?"
Before her master could disconnect her, Morrin decided to go straight to the point. "Brunos is here, master." The Succubi Realms were made up of three Realms and since Valinan was the strongest, the nobles gathered once a month with the queens and kings of the other two realms.
It was Morrin's responsibility to ensure their safety. For that, she had to report every unusual incident directly to Fellene since he was the Incubi wing commander—the strongest figure after the queen.
Brunos continued the journey unaware of what was transpiring on in Morrin's mind. He hoped not to meet any of his brothers before Valeria. They were still far from the castle and he knew exactly what they would do to him. They would now make sure he was dead.
To his disappointment, Morrin who was walking in front of him turned to look at him as she said, "Master Fellene says we should stop here."
Before he could ask how and when, a huge silhouette appeared amidst them laughing hysterically. "How satisfying to see you're not even as strong as I last saw you!"
