It was so satisfying to see a demonness frowning. Who would not? Just when she thought she had finally took Brunos inside a place he could not escape, he proved her wrong and escaped.
To make matters worse, he was right in front of her, ready to punch her face as cruel as he could.
'Say bye to your beautiful face!'
Just like that, his punch sent Lania flying into the air. Her illusions, who were of course mimicking her, followed the suit.
For Brunos, looking at a dozen of lool-alike succubi girls flying to crash on wall just a few meters away from him looked like a scene extracted from an award winning movie.
Not taking even a second to praise his achievement, Brunos made a u-turn and grabbed the bows of the archers. Expression on their faces was yet to be formed because, at the time, they were still in the air. Once on ground, Brunos could tell what kind of expression was going to be there. Disbelief.
He had done everything with a lightening speed that even Peony had yet to notice his absence.
This could only mean one thing. None had realized that there was an escape going on.
With the bows of the falling archers, Brunos turned at Peony who was now trying to sense something.
'Should I knock her down too?'
He raised his fist to give her a taste on his Super speed punch but then, for some reason, retracted.
'Punch her, you fool! If you don't, she's going to use that maroon pot of hers to weaken you.'
His mind was chaotic.
'But her face... her face is beautiful. I cannot make someone ugly unless...'
At that moment, Brunos realized what he was doing. Pondering and wondering. A wide path into one's grave. Once you start wondering, you waste time.
'I should have jumped in the air by now. I have their bows. None of them is going to shoot at me, right?'
'Don't over think! Just fly!'
By the time Peony turned her head, Brunos had shot in the air like a missile launched from a powerful cannon. To her, it might have seemed like looking at blue smoky shooting star because his speed.
However, once in the air, he couldn't fly at such a speed. He tried to flip his wings as fast as he could, but his speed was as normal as always, or he thought so since he needed more speed.
'This is bad!'
At that moment, someone shouted.
"Stop him!" It sounded like Lania... No! Peony. There's no way Lania could release such a roar after taking his blow head on. He trusted his punch like the way she relied on her illusions.
After hearing that alarm, he didn't need to look below his feet to know there was a great commotion erupting there. All he wanted was to see himself out of that beautiful hell.
Trying to predict how much minutes he needed to reach the opening, he fixed his gaze on it. The opening of course. Uh... minutes you say? Yeah! He had used wide and long to describe that underground city, but now that he was trying to cross the distance between the city and the opening, he felt like changing the vocabulary.
Long was an understatement.
'However far you are, whatever time it's going to take me, I'm getting out of here no matter what.'
With such self made motivation speech, he flipped his wings beyond their limits.
'Survival means thrival. Be lazy and you'll be erased,' he reminded himself one of the lines in his novel back on earth.
As a result of how much energy he was using, he felt his lungs burning, every oxygen turning into carbon as soon as it entered his nostrils. Thus, involuntary, his lips parted to take in as much breath as he needed to get out.
Mare inches on his right side, something terrifying whooshed past him.
'They are shooting at me. I better hurry! I better hurry!'
Other arrows whistled in the air but, luckily, God or the devils... one of them was on his side. None of the arrows had even scratched him.
But that didn't mean he was safe. More arrows were coming. He couldn't go there and there because arrows were many. Trying to dodge them would end up taking him into them. He just flew straight to the opening. His only hope for survival.
In fact, the archers shooting at him were far away from him. The only reason they were missing their target.
Soon, his gaze was drown on an arrow with red fletch. It was flying tenths meters ahead of him. Looking at it wasn't because of anything especial. The reason was where it headed. The opening. Not only that. The arrow was about to pass through the opening. He was close to getting out.
Though he hadn't managed to ask Peony which direction the Crimson Castle was in, he was sure that once outside, he would manage.
As the red fletched arrow approached the finish line, sheer light forced Brunos to close his eyes a little to regain his sight. It was as quick as blinking but...
but when he opened them, when he regained his sight, something wide had covered the opening.
No! Someone with wide red wings. Unlike succubi girls whose wings looked like their hairs, each incubus had a hair colour different from the wings. That's why, despite having white hair, Fellene's wings were red.
Looking at the figure hovering above him, Brunos saw the red wings turning into a glowing ruby as the light from above illuminated them.
'Shit!'
When he planned his escape, Fellene was not among the threats for his plan Anthe time. Who would have thought that...
Unsure of what to do, he left pondering for later. Fellene's sudden appearance was not his concern. Escaping was.
But how?
'You have to think! You have to do something.'
'Think! Think!'
Despite the fact that Fellene had an advantage of being above him, Brunos didn't even know what his abilities were. They could be something deadly like Amellia's for balls or Lania's illusions.
He really was doomed. If his plan failed, who knew what Lania was going to do to him. He was sure that by how deadly he
punched her face, she was no longer going to be interested in his treasure bird.
At least he had spared Peony. Enduring revenge from both of them would be devastating.
"Stop right there!"
Fellene's indeffrent voice interrupted his thoughts.
Brunos was still flying straight toward the opening. What else would he do? Accept defeat before even trying?
No! He was not created like that. No matter how weak he was, he had to try things up before giving up. After all, if he could not fight Fellene, how was he going to defeat a Pergus.
He knew it was unlucky of him to encounter his enemies before growing strong. He also couldn't blame the system. It hadn't been even half a week since he received it. As far as he knew, systems granted their hosts a way to grow slowly. Not every system of course. But it was normal for systems to do so. It was even logical.
A person needs time to learn how to use powers he obtained before being given more. Take him for example. He had obtained a deadly ability. Super Speed to be exact. By now, he had yet to master it.
He needed to know its pros and cons so he could avoid colliding with a tree or a door like before.
'If I escape, I'll try to revive the real Brunos's powers.'
He knew he had powers within him and all he needed to do was grasp the process of how to access them. With them, plus progression with the system, he would never have to fear people like Fellene.
Now that he was yet to reach that level, he had to face him head on. He had to survive first.
How?
'Fly straight to him and crash with him!'
Risky? Better take a risk earlier than risks later.
'If you're lucky, you'll survive. If you're not, then you will...'
He didn't need to know what would happen if he was unlucky.
Wait!
Did he just think all these things in that very short period?
'Brain is a mystery.'
"I said stop!" Fellene reminded him of his order. He was still meters away but he could hear him as if he was whispering into his ears.
Didn't make sense? An enemy's voice is always loud. Like it or not, his voice penetrates through your ears faster than anything.
Before Brunos could react in any way...
...not to mention that he didn't know how to react in such a hopeless situation, Fellene's voice came once more.
"Maybe I should just give you a glimpse of what's going to happen to you if you insist on coming closer."
After those words, what Fellene did next shocked Brunos.
'I'm doomed!'
