Chapter 8 - 08. Debt

"1...150" muttered Fang Yang in disbelief.

From his memory, he knew that his monthly income was only around 5 spirit stones. Even in the best of times, it wouldn't exceed 10 spirit stones. This that even if he earned well every month it would still take him 1 year and 3 months to pay off the debt and this was still ignoring living and cultivation expenses!

'Fang Yang you reckless bastard!!!'

Fang Yang couldn't help but curse his predecessor as he looked through his memories.

He had scanned them to see if the predecessor had prepared a plan to pay off the debt but had come up with absolutely nothing.

His predecessor was truly a ruthless character.

From the moment he borrowed the spirit stones he never came up with a plan of paying them back.

After all, when he borrowed them, he left the sect with the mentality to refine the battle god corpse puppet or die trying!

Naturally, if he died the debt would be gone, and if he succeeded in refining the corpse puppet he believed that he would naturally find a way to pay off the debt. Worst case scenario he would just abandon the sect, leaving his debt behind as well.

Seeing Fang Yang's stunned state, Wang Ming suddenly spoke out.

"Fang Yang, if I got news from the market that you are back today then those debt collectors should be able to get the news as well. Even with my small backing in the inner sect, I won't be able to help you in front of those guys, the water and interests surrounding them are just too deep!" As Wang Ming spoke a slightly deflated look appeared on his face. But Fang Yang wasn't disappointed by this, he had expected it all along.

Just opening a profitable storefront in the outer sect had required Wang Ming to get the backing of an inner sect disciple, the spirit stone loaning business was much more lucrative and much more vicious, Fang Yang wouldn't be surprised if even some inner sect elders were involved and backing this large operation.

Trying to weasel out of the debt simply wasn't an option. After all, it wasn't like there weren't people that had tried in the past. It's just that a few weeks later, their corpses could be seen around the outer sect carrying and moving giant loads around like a coolie.

Even in death, you wouldn't be able to escape your debt!

This sight alone was enough to send chills down everyone watching, erasing all thoughts of trying to play their way out.

But who would have thought that the original Fang Yang would be so radical and reckless!

gritting his teeth, Wang Ming opened his mouth and spoke

"Brother Fang, if you need money, although I can't pay off all your debt, I should be able to contribute."

Seeing this a serious expression appeared on his face.

"Wang Ming, things haven't gotten so serious that I need to borrow money quite yet. If there's truly no hope I won't be courteous but at least for now, I should still be able to figure things out for myself."

Although Fang Yang could really use the money from Wang Ming he still understood the truth.

Brothers could make money together, but they couldn't one-sidedly leach off of each other, otherwise, no matter how close you are, there was no way the relationship would last.

Wang Ming knew this and so did the previous Fang Yang. That's why no matter how rich Wang Ming became, the previous Fang Yang never borrowed money from him.

Now that Wang Ming had gotten some connections in the inner sect and his store was about to take off, Fang Yang wanted to maintain this friendship for as long as possible.

Seeing Fang Yang's resolute look, Wang Ming knew that he couldn't change his standpoint and just sighed.

"If that's how you think then I will respect it. Just remember that, if you need some assistance, I'll try the best I can."

Hearing this, Fang Yang chatted with Wang Ming for a few more minutes before he had to leave and go and open the store.

Seeing Wang Ming leave, Fang Yang also got up and got ready to go out.

He had just come back from the sect and still needed to hand in the mission that he had completed.

Most Outer Sect Disciples of the Corpse Ghost Sect had relatively strong restrictions on leaving the sect and could only leave if they were accepting a mission.

The reason Fang Yang had been able to leave for an entire year was that he had been investigating the surrounding countries for Evil lands and Yin spirit veins that would be suitable for refining corpses.

After a few minutes of walking in the outer sect, Fang Yang finally made it to the mission hall.

The mission hall was by far the busiest place in the outer sect.

Fang Yang could see countless grey-robed figures flowing into and out of the mission hall making it look like a nest of busy worker ants.

Most outer sect disciples would live the rest of their lives not too dissimilar from worker ants anyway. Constantly working away and accepting missions in a desperate attempt to earn spirit stones to help their own cultivation.

The previous owner of this body was also such a person.

But as a transmigrator and not just that, but also the owner of a system, how could Fang Yang accept such a fate?

Even the previous Fang Yang was too prideful to do such a thing not to mention the current him.

With such thoughts in mind, Fang Yang straightened his back and walked into the mission hall and lined up at one of the desks.

After waiting several minutes it was finally time for Fang Yang to step forward.

As he approached the desk the receptionist didn't even bother to look up and just spoke in a bored, monotone voice.
