Chapter 2 - Enjoying My New Life

Is this what it's like being a baby? The world is so small, the chairs are so tall, and my mom's body is so scary! What the absolute hell was even going on?

Sure that may be the second time I'm asking, but who wouldn't repeatedly ask that question? I died, and now I'm reincarnated. It's not even in my world, it's another freaking world! Did I go back in time- wait no, this isn't time travel, it's something different.

["Godfrey, your mommy is gonna make you a bottle okay? It'll be your first time having milk. You're such a good boy, you aren't crying or anything, I hope that's not a disability... but it does give me peace, unlike other mothers."]

Crying? Do you want me to cry? Alright then, I'll start shitting my pants and start crying just to annoy you, heh, maybe this is a way to release frustration.

["Uwaaaaa!! Waaaaaaa!"]

["Oh no, baby, what's wrong Godfrey? Why did you start crying all of a sudden? Maybe I jinxed myself..."]

Emma sighed as she walked over to me, picking me up from the baby crib.

["There there, it's gonna be okay. You must be hungry, aren't you? My sister, Matilda, is also bringing over a few baby supplies, I'm sure you'll love them, my sweet boy."]

To hell with baby supplies, and to hell with your sister! Where is my real mom? My brother and sister? Where are they, I don't wanna grow up here, take me back, God! Take me back home!

["Uwaaaa!! Waaaaaaaaa!"]

I started crying louder, unable to vent my frustration in words, but only in tears.

["Oh dear... you started crying louder, do you hate baby toys?"]

I'm like 25, of course, I hate baby toys!

["I'm back."]

Walking through the door was the same woman who pulled me from my mother's womb, this must've been Matilda.

["Aww, what's wrong with the little sugar drop? He hasn't cried all day until now."] Matilda walked over to me, placing her fingers against my cheek, and pinching it. ["Is he hungry? He must be starving along with you as well. I brought some food; we'll be having steak, and he'll be having some good, fresh, cow milk, that sound okay, Emma?"]

["Mmm, Steak is quite wonderful, it's been a few months since I've feasted on that. Thank you, sister, you're the best I could ever ask for."]

Matilda leaned forward, pecking a kiss on my mom's cheek.

["Of course, you're now a mother, you know? I gotta provide for you, and support you through your journey like any other sister."]

Emma shook her head in agreement.

["Hehehe, not many sisters have time to spend with their other siblings, they're always busy and stressed out, so it makes me happy to see you spending most of your time with me."]

Matilda placed her hand against Emma's shoulder, patting it a few times.

["Well sissy, I'm not like those other sisters, and you know that. Anyways, I'll get started on the food, want me to make little Godfrey a bottle?"]

Emma nodded her head.

["Sure! Thank you so much."]

Matilda winked at her, making her way to the kitchen.

My mother is named Emma, and my Auntie is named Matilda, I must be the only child in this family.

This is gonna be my new life, and I already hated it--

So I thought.

Throughout my span of years, I've been liking my new life, but I still missed my mother and family back in Japan, and that'll take a while to get over.

I grew up as a commoner. What may that be, you ask? Well, a commoner is someone who lives outside Atlantis City, a place full of sorcerers, magic, and neat abilities. I didn't believe it at first, I mean... who wouldn't? Magic never existed in my other world, so hearing that it exists here is baffling.

As commoners, we were looked down upon by the nobles in Atlantis City, and we were always bullied, abused, and beaten. That was normal, but I never got the chance to see it from staying inside the house all my life, only going outside when my mother brought me to shopping markets.

We were meant to grow farmlands, harvest vegetables and fruits, and give them all to Atlantis City. You may be wondering why that is, but it's simple; commoners are people who can't afford to live in Atlantis City, so the city decides to let commoners stay outside its city walls, living in worn-down houses they lazily built, and in return, we must provide the city with food. That's why we grow gardens, and farm animals as well. We were given a free house, free bedding, and free shelter, so it's only fair we give them their food and resources. But despite that, it still doesn't give them the right to belittle us.

Us commoners live inside a small village known as "Mediocre". Geez, whoever gave our town its name must really hate us, and thinks of us as nothing more than trash, but besides that, I didn't have to worry about any governmental problem, and corrupted system, I was still a child.

I was at the age of three currently, my English was fluent, and I was also learning magic.

["Oh my god, Emma... is he doing magic, at the age of three years old?"]

I was outside in our backyard, performing magic with a small stick I picked up from the ground.

I read about magic from the dozens of books hidden in my mom's room, and now I know how to conjure ice from the tip of a stick.

You must be wondering how magic works in this world, well I can tell you a little bit about it; magic is a concept that exists within all races inside this world, and it's at the core of one's soul. To awaken magic, and also bring it forth, you must link with your soul by clearing your mind from all thoughts, and only focusing on your subjective worldview. A worldview is a collection of attitudes, values, stories, and expectations about the world around us, which inform our every thought and action. My view of the world was cold, ruthless, heartless, and uncaring, therefore my magic type was ice since it represented my worldview on our ice-cold world.

Pretty cool right? Well... not my worldview but how magic worked, it was awesome.

["Godfrey's magic is ice-type, he must think of the world as a bad, and cold place... but that's common within Mediocre Village since most of the commoners here also think of the world as the same."] Matilda spoke to Emma whilst they sat in chairs in the backyard, watching me perform ice spells.

["Yes, I expected this... we commoners are criticized, and discredited as people from the nobles in Atlantis city. They dislike us, having no care for our lives, even if we caught some life-threatening disease that even magic cannot cure."]

["That's how it is sissy, but it doesn't stop us commoners from trying our hardest to reach the top, you know? Dozen of commoners left the mediocre village to Atlantis city to prove their worth, and show the nobles that even they can become great."]

Emma smiled as she looked down at her fidgeting hands.

["Yes, that is true, but even the strongest commoner would be cattle to the weakest noble."]

Matilda sighed as she leaned back in her seat, crossing her leg over the other.

["I still find that to be bull! Let me tell you, Emma, one day there will be a commoner who surpasses those damn nobles and reach the top level! There's no doubt in my mind that it'll happen!"]

I heard everything they were talking about, and it spiked my interest more than I anticipated at first, I blankly stared at my auntie and mother, frowning slightly.

("So that's how it is. We are belittled, and even weaker than the nobles themselves. That's screwed up... this world is entirely screwed up!")

["Oh? Is something the matter Godfrey, you look, upset honey, what's wrong?"]

I realized my frowning expression and shook it off with a laugh.

["O-Oh, nothing mommy! I'm just upset since I ran out of magic."]

["Well, you have been casting ice spells all day, how about you take a break and go make some fresh lemonade?"]

["Yes mam!"]

I dropped the stick and ran towards my mother, hugging her around the waist, and doing the same to my auntie who pat my head.

["You have a talent Godfrey, you can cast ice spells at the age of three, and you'll end up making the other kids in the village jealous."] Matilda said.

Ha! If they were jealous then that's their fault, not my problem at all! I'm still 25, mentally, therefore I can learn and adapt to things much quicker than others. It was an advantage I'm proud of.

["Thanks Auntie Matilda, I must get it from mommy."]

["Your mother? Well, let me tell ya, your mom was a total badass in the past, she could cast ice spells the size of entire mountains!"]

Wait... what?

["W-What? Really? Mommy could do that?"]

["That was the past, don't listen to your auntie, Godfrey, if my magic was that powerful then I would be counted as a noble."]

If what my auntie said was true, then my mom must be one scary woman...
