Xalroz couldn't get away when Grima's father had already started trouble accusing him of trying to have his way with the man's daughter. This caused a big uproar for those to hear about this and pry into the matter.
Now he had to gather with all other northern people at the great hall taking place inside the big building where Xalroz stand before the chieftain beside the father of the girl.
The man would rather beat the drow elf to death instead yet the well bring over his daughter was far more important and so doing this would have to do at the moment.
Noises of the crowd there talking about what was going on, mostly believing what was said about the drow elf.
Luckily there were at least three people among them to not believe that fake news and would stand by his side in defending against this.
"Silence! People, so that our chieftain can speak please."
A man standing in front spoke so that he could calm the crowd down no doubt to be the advisor of the leader of these people.
"Today we have all gather here by the news of Hjoy Hringsson accusing the drow elf Thorkell of him having his way with your daughter is that correct."
"This is foolish, why must I have to deal with this? If only I can be at my full state then destroying these humans would be the most enjoyable. Patient Xalroz all in due time other ways will do for the time."
Xalroz thought while he came to hear the man speak in his stand where a person in a situation like this has the chance to talk before the head leaders can make a decision.
"That right chieftain, I found him holding her in his arm no doubt to have knocked her out because she was fighting back."
"And do you have any proof of this matter?"
"I do see that a part of her clothing was torn by nails showing that this elf was trying to take it off in a hurry. I wish to show you all, but her well-being matters, so she has been left back at our farm to be watched over by the slaves."
'Come on Hjoy this isn't right my son Thorkell had done nothing of the sort to your daughter. It is clear they care for each other that he wouldn't dare to lay hands on her in such a manner.``
At the front of this crow was no other than the man who took in the drow elf to be his son living with him, his wife, and two sons.
"Lorthr Eskilsson you do understand that this case has nothing to do with you for yourself to just speak in."
"Forgive me chieftain as I meant only to defend my son as any father would for their child."
"Yes, a father to two northern boys, but let us be clear this one is just an elf whose heart was too big to rise as a slave to work on your farm."
To say this was the wife of the chieftain as she sat on the throne-like chair next to her husband along with their two children here as well to partake in this matter that interested them not like the usual cases.
Interesting that Xalroz notices that the daughter seems to have her eyes aimed at him looking as if she hasn't seen a drow elf before. He believes they will come to know each other when there is a chance for it in the future.
"Even so, I consider him a true son and one of us my lady."
"Yes of course you would, but not everyone living here shares the same feeling as you. The elf still has much to prove it to be a true northern not only in being rise as one."
"Enough we are not gathered here to discuss the elf position of matter of him being accepted as one of us. He has been raised here living among us then he is one of us and right now in a trial just like anyone else here would be in this hall."
The chieftain said his tone was harsh to make both have their mouth shut, so the argument doesn't go on for long.
"Now then Hjoy has said all that you want to say or is there more to it."
"None there is to be your chieftain."
"Good then Thorkell it is your turn to speak now and make sure that what comes out of that mouth is true to save you from this crime."
Xalroz sees that he must do his best to escape this situation alive and to move on to important and better matters.
"Thank you chieftain for giving me such a chance, but this is all not true on what Grima's father claims to be all wrong. I did not harm or try to force my way onto Grima. We were alone discussing something personal far from the settlement and out in the woods."
"And what matters is that you don't mind sharing it for us to know."
"It was about her arranged marriages her father had set up with another and his son."
"I don't see what this has to mean anything of you talking about alone with each other out there."
The chieftain looked to not understand yet his wife and a few others can take the hit as she took to explain.
"It is because the two have feelings for one another, my husband, but how can the two be together when different people? Surely there was no way they can show their love what to say that love hasn't gone behind just feeling Hjoy, your daughter might already be a woman."
Xalroz was not liking this woman trying to make the matter more complicated further. He can feel the burning stare Hjoy is giving him. The man is indeed building up in rage fighting back to not just charge at the elf attacking Xalroz in front of everyone.
"Did she say it was true? Did you and my daughter cross that line behind my back?"
"As the lady says, but she oversteps when facts are not filled with truth Grima and I haven't done anything with each other. She is still pure and untouched by my hands Hjoy."
"She better be or the deal that made between us is off Hjoy."
Now a new voice from the crowd joins one to be from a man that makes his way through the crowd to stand at the front for all to look at him.
"So Guthhere Gyrdesson does that mean you can say what Thorkell said to be true."
"Yeah, I and the man were talking about this topic since both our children are the same age for them to be husband and wife. yet this about the man's daughter having feelings for the elf is new to me which I do not like if the girl has opened her legs for him already."
"Don't you fucking dare speak about my daughter like that or I will break your teeth where no long you can say disrespectful words again."
Seems now that now Hjoy has changed his anger to another, so he quickly aimed it away from the elf.
"Alright with that done and clear, let's keep going before things here get out of control."
"Yes of course as we were talking about this someone we know nothing about comes to show herself. Thought that she was from the settlement, but that wasn't true as it was a fake human form the demon took in to fool us for the chance to attack when our guard was done."
When the word 'demon' came out of his mouth that brought fear to the people around him as demons are evil creatures that are strong and powerful in using magic.
"Order! I say Order! Everyone keep your fucking self-calm."
The chieftain advisor works to get the crowds together, so this trial can go on as normal, so the same man can speak to Xalroz.
"A demon you say and please tell us how you can be sure that a creature like that was what you both encountered. How is it possible the demon has spared you two and not killed them? they do not act in a manner like that."
"That was a hard one to do since I wasn't able to recall much when the demon had thrown me at a tree causing me to black out for a short time until opening my eyes again to see Grima laying on the ground where I quickly went her side to check on her and the rest is history."
A simple lie to come out of Xalroz only if it can hold up for them to get blinded by it if these people are fools.
"Strange that how it came to end in such a way one to be not quite the believable matter that is."
"It isn't strange as Throkell is speaking the truth to you all."
Shocking Hjoy daughter shows up in the great hall passing away through the crowd to stand before all at the front.
"Grima, what are you doing here?"
