A mutated Martial Beast is a type of martial beast that has undergone a genetic mutation, resulting in unique physical characteristics and abilities.
However, they were a double-edged sword to players, capable of giving powerful abilities but also with the potential to cause harm to the user.
For example, a mutated Martial Beast may have increased strength and speed, but also a weakness to certain elements or environments.
Some mutated beasts may have extraordinary abilities, but they come with negative traits that can damage the human body.
Many players had fallen victim to the negative traits of their mutated Martial Beast, unable to control their powers and ultimately paying the price with their lives in real life.
However, there weren't that many of them, a player could be said to be extremely lucky to even get one in their rolls.
Back then, due to the appearance of wormholes, the world turned into chaos, the Governments were too busy stabilizing the crime in its citizens and had no time to care about the victims with the mutated Martial Beasts due to their low in numbers.
However, Klein also knew that there were successful players. Players who had harnessed the power of their mutated beasts and become legends in the game and the real world.
He thought of the Guild Leader of Guardian Tortoise, Atlas one of the 4 Great Heroes, who got the Thorny Tortoise, a mutated Martial Beast as his Martial Beast. Its unique traits had allowed him to excel in battle due to his advance offensive moves and absolute defensive moves.
Klein then inspected the information of the mutated Martial Beast he had rolled:
[White Peacock] (Mutated)
- A majestic bird with snowy white feathers and vibrant black and White markings on its tail feathers. Its appearance is breathtakingly beautiful and regal, exuding an air of grace and elegance. Humans who bond with a White Peacock gain the ability to control their inner energy, allowing for greater focus, precision, and efficiency in cultivation, the body would not be able to stand against high temperatures, and prolonged use of its abilities would corrode the user's body over time.
Klein's mind raced as he considered the possibilities. The Mutated White Peacock's special trait was exactly what he needed to overcome his lack of talent for cultivation!
But there was a catch. The negative traits of the Mutated White Peacock were equally powerful.
Klein thought hard as he contemplated his decision. He couldn't afford to make the wrong choice, as this decision would determine his future in the game.
On one hand, the Mutated White Peacock could potentially give him an edge in cultivation and help him become one of the strongest if cultivated the right way. On the other hand, the bad traits could hinder his progress and even endanger his life.
"Damn it! It's now or never!"
Klein weighed the pros and cons and finally made his decision. He chose the Mutated White Peacock as his Martial Beast, knowing that it was a risky choice but also recognizing the potential benefits it could bring.
*Ding!*
[Binding Complete]
He felt a surge of excitement and anticipation, knowing that he had just taken a step closer to his goal of becoming one of the best players in the game.
A few moments later, a map of the world showed up on the screen. He scanned the map and saw a few dots which were the spawn points where players could choose as their starting village.
Without a second thought, he selected the Icemoor Village located in the northern part of the world.
To reach his goal, he must reap the legendary treasure buried deep within the Starfall Canyon in the northern reaches of the world.
With his Martial Beast and starting village chosen, Klein's character creation process began.
With his Martial Beast and starting village chosen, Klein's character creation process began. He watched in amazement as his avatar slowly took shape before his eyes, looking exactly like his real-world body.
It was almost surreal to see himself in a virtual world, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement.
As his character creation finished, Klein suddenly found himself standing in the middle of a frozen wasteland, surrounded by snowdrifts that towered over him. He could feel the biting cold seeping into his bones, and he shivered uncontrollably.
The realism of the game was so high that he felt like he was actually there in person. The chilly wind blew against his face, and he could even feel the soft crunch of snow beneath his feet.
Looking around, he saw that he was standing at the edge of a small village, with several wooden buildings huddled together for warmth. The air was still and quiet, broken only by the occasional gust of wind that sent snowflakes swirling through the air.
Klein took a deep breath and stepped forward, his boots crunching through the snow with each step. Upon entering the village, he saw several other new players who had also chosen to spawn in Icemoor Village.
Klein wandered around for a bit, taking in the sights and sounds of the village while feeling nostalgic.
He noticed that there was a quest board in the center of the village, with several tasks posted for players to complete.
He saw several other players gathered around the quest board, eagerly taking on missions to earn some silver coins.
However, Klein didn't immediately go take the available quests on the board, but instead went to the inn in the village.
In his previous life, Klein had learned the hard way about the importance of inns in the game. He knew that it was only after a few weeks, players would start to realize the significance of these establishments, which could grant a double EXP buff.
With this knowledge, Klein decided to take advantage of the situation and find an inn first before picking up any quests.
This time he wanted to maximize his advantage of his experience from his previous life in the game.
Using all of his starter silver coins, Klein rented a room for the day. Inside the room, he sat down and began to cultivate.
He was grateful for the knowledge he had gained in his previous life, which allowed him to bypass the basic cultivation training that most new players had to go through.
Klein could feel the ability of his White Peacock Martial Beast, which enhanced his ability to control and absorb the energy called 'mana' to cultivate.
However, as he absorbed the mana around him, he suddenly felt a familiar yet odd sensation in his body.
Curious, he opened his Character Panel and examined his character in detail. As he looked at the various attributes, he finally found the cause of the strange sensation.
"Wait!! How could this happen? It wasn't there before!!" Klein said in shocked.
