Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Nothing Is Forever

They entered the hospital, and Lianna took Heila toward the receptionist area.

"Hello, we need to see a doctor; she is having pain in her teeth," Lianna explained. The nurse behind the counter gave them a concerned glance.

"Let me see if the doctor is available. The receptionist said and dialed a number on the telephone that was placed on the counter.

"Miss, you will have to wait a bit because right now, no one is available," The receptionist answered after placing the telephone holder back in its place.

"What do you? Ah! What do you mean by this? Can't you-- see the pain I am in--." Heila tried to speak despite the pain she was in. It was almost becoming unbearable as the pain grew stronger with each passing second.

"Please try to understand right now no one is available. Please wait a bit. Nurse takes them to the waiting room," the Receptionist told the nurse.

"Please go ahead Miss," The receptionist said. Lianna nodded before taking Heila's other arm to lead her to the waiting room.

....

It had been almost 20 minutes since they had been waiting for the doctor. And the pain Heila was feeling just got worse and worse. Her whole mouth was numb from the pain she was feeling. Lianna had gone outside the waiting room to fetch something. She came back not long after and handed the ice pack to Heila. She put it on Heila's cheek and sat down next to her. Heila was breathing heavily as tears rolled down her cheeks. The door opened, and the nurse whole took them inside the waiting room and entered.

"Where is the doctor?" Lianna asked worriedly.

"Doctor's here. Please wait a bit for him," The nurse said as she prepared the examination chair for Heila.

"Miss Heila, sit here; the doctor is coming," She instructed, gently guiding Heila to the examination chair and positioning her head on the headrest accordingly.

Ring! Ring!

Lianna's phone rang in her purse. It was from Rafael. She quickly declined the call because, right now, her friend was important.

"You can go, Lianna. He must be waiting-- for you, it's --- your --- big day," Heila tried to speak. She didn't want to ruin her friend's date. After all, it was going to be a big day for her.

"But--

"Just go."

"Fine, I am leaving and you take care of yourself," Lianna assured Heila before taking her purse and exiting the waiting room. After she left the doctor came inside, he was wearing his scrubs and had glasses on. He was wearing a mask, so she couldn't examine his face, but he was handsome indeed.

"Miss Heila, Am I right?" the doctor sat on the chair beside her. She just nodded her head.

"Let me examine," he said as he visualized her jawline. He moved around the jaws a bit before finally stopping at her teeth.

"Can you open your mouth?" he asked.

She did as instructed and he proceeded to inspect her teeth for damage before moving his hand away.

"How did it trigger?" he inquired.

"I was eating a croissant when the pain triggered."

"Hmm," he nodded, "how much pain are you in now Miss?"

"It's painful, really painful."

"Your teeth are quite damaged. We will have to remove it before it damge others

," he stated matter of factly and began to gather tools that were needed to remove her teeth.

"Wait, wait no!" Heila sat on the chair hastily and pushed the doctor's hand away.

"Don't be afraid Miss. This won't hurt a bit. Trust me," the doctor reassured her.

"It's just can we do it some--- other day. I have an --- event to attend. I can't go there with a swollen face,"

He sighed softly and placed the instrument back on the table beside him, then turned towards Lianna.

"Fine, I will prescribe some painkillers. But you must return tomorrow morning to get the removal done."

"Yes."

"Nurse, give her painkillers and take her appointment for tomorrow," the doctor said as he removed his mask and gloves. Now her eyes can examine his face properly. His nose was pointed and straight like most men's noses and his lips were soft and beautifully shaped. She also noticed his eyes were very beautiful. They were hazel-like coffee beans. He had a strong jawline and a nice chin. He had a small mole on the corner of his lips. He was indeed handsome.

She couldn't help staring at him for a few seconds before he left.

"Nurse, what is the name of the doctor?" She asked curiously.

"Dr. Kyree, he is the most handsome doctor in our hospital. No one can match his beauty," she replied dreamily before leaving the room.

....

Lianna hurriedly entered the restaurant where Rafael was waiting for her.

She found him sitting comfortably at their usual table and she quickly tried to approach him when she bumped into someone. He was dressed in a white shirt. The shirt's top buttons were open, revealing a silver chain. His ash brown hair were neatly slicked back, giving him a tousled look, and some of the hairs fall on his forehead. He had his sunglasses on.

"I am sorry," Lianna quickly apologized, her eyes gazing at his coat, which was now covered by a stain of her lipstick. "I didn't mean to bump into you.

"It's alright."

"But the stain?" Lianna pointed towards his white coat, which was now stained red.

"It's okay," he said before walking away hurriedly towards his table where a girl was waiting for him, probably his lover.

"Hey!" she grinned happily as she hugged him tightly from behind.

"Hi," he said before breaking free from her grip.

Lianna felt a bit uncomfortable. It was the first time he didn't let her hug him.

"Take a seat," he pointed at the seat formally. It was quite strange as if they were some strangers.

"What happened? Are you angry at me? Why are you speaking so formally? Today is our 2nd anniversary," Lianna questioned nervously while pulling out a chair across from him.

"I am fine, it's just..." he stopped abruptly and looked down at his lap; Lianna was starting to feel slightly nervous and anxious. Did she do something wrong?

"I don't know why you are acting like this. We should be celebrating right?" Lianna asked, trying to lighten the atmosphere, even though her stomach was still knotted with worry.

Rafael slowly lifted his head and stared into her eyes.

"Let's break up," he suddenly announced.

"WHAT?!" Lianna stood up shocked.

Rafael remained seated without saying anything, he stared silently at her.

"I don't love you anymore; I am tired, Lianna," he said calmly.

Lianna could not believe him. This wasn't happening she thought to herself,

"Is it some kind of prank? Are you joking? Lianna said, trying her best not to cry and sitting on the chair again.

"No, I am serious," he said still holding her gaze.

"We can talk if something is wrong, but why are we breaking up? Do you like someone else now?" Lianna asked, a tear forming in her eyes, ready to fall anytime.

"So what if he has someone he likes?" A girl who had approached their table suddenly spoke. Her voice sounded sweet and innocent. Lianna immediately recognized her, it was Rachel, her stepsister.

"You two!" Lianna pointed at both; Rachael has always been like this from childhood ever since Lianna's mother married Rachael's Dad. Rachel would always like the thing Lianna had.

"I can't believe this," Lianna chuckled as she ran her fingers through her hair.

"He doesn't love you. Accept it as quickly as you can," Rachael said with a smug look plastered on her face.

Lianna took her purse and placed it on her shoulder before leaving the restaurant. Lianna was walking slowly as the rain was pouring heavily now and she was shivering badly as cold drops fell onto her cheeks. Her heart ached more than it already did as tears started to well up in her eyes. Her heart was falling apart. She sat on the ground and cried quietly, her body shaking with every sob that escaped her mouth. Just then, an umbrella appeared above her, causing her to lift her head and see who was standing over her. Lianna froze in place, her eyes gazing at the person who was holding the umbrella over her head. He was the person she bumped into earlier in the restaurant.

"You shouldn't cry over someone worthless. People come into our life for a moment after a long journey, then they leave us," he whispered.

"You can take this umbrella," He said as he handed her umbrella.
