October 2010...
Sitting on her bed, Katherine took her phone and was about to call Savannah but remembered that she didn't know Savannah's number. She then typed, ' I don't have Savannah's number, can you send it to me?' before sending it to Nathan.
After waiting for a while, Katherine's phone beeped, she quickly picked up her phone and checked her messages. Nathan sent her Savannah's number. Without wasting anymore time, Katherine quickly dialed her number. The phone rang for a while before Savannah answered it.
" Hello" Katherine said not long after the call was answered.
" Who is this? Do I know you?" Savannah said, sounding very concerned.
" Oh yes, I'm Katherine, your therapist".
"Oh, I'm sorry for the confusion but, how did you get my number?"
Katherine was at a loss of words. She didn't know whether to tell her the truth or to lie to her. Maybe it would be best to keep the truth hidden for the time being. "Well, Nathan gave me your number".
" Without asking me, why would he do that?"
Thinking fast, Katherine told her the first thing that popped in her head, " Well, Nathan thought it would be best if the two of us contacted each other more often. He really wants you to get better soon".
For a while Savannah didn't say anything so Katherine decided to break the silence, " The main reason I called you was to ask if you've watched the news today?"
"Uhm, yes, I just finished watching it. What's wrong, why are you asking?"
" Do you relate to anything she said? Like maybe remember if you were there or not?"
" I don't understand what you're saying, and, you didn't answer my question, why are you asking me these questions?"
" Uhm, you know what, we'll get more into this during our next session". Katherine said before ending the call.
After breathing a heavy sigh of relief, Katherine decided to call Nathan.
"Oh hey Katie. So, have you asked her yet?"
"Yes but she didn't really give me a direct answer".
"What do you mean by a ' direct answer'? Did she say she remembered or not?"
"She asked me why I was asking her questions so I told her that we'll get into it during our next session ".
"Okay so technically, she didn't answer your question, but anyways, let's leave that for now. All we have to be focusing on is if these deaths are related and how that information can help us".
"You're right, but, we don't know anything about the victims".
"That's why you have me. I know some of the victims that were killed.Like Beatrice and Patricia. I'm not sure if this is related to the case or not but there's also Adam".
" Wait but, who's Adam?"
"Adam, he's Savannah's older brother. Wait, didn't Savannah tell you about him?" It was evident through his voice that something was wrong.
"She didn't. What's wrong, is there something about him you don't want to talk about?"
"No, it's not that. I just remembered the day it all happened and it's just.... You know what forget about it".
Katherine could tell with his voice that Adam's death caused a big impact on him. Katherine was thinking whether she should ask him more about it or not since she knew it was a sensitive topic. But even though, they still needed to know more about this topic, so maybe she should ask him about it. With a heavy sigh, Katherine built up the courage and said, "What happened that day? How did Adam die?"
"Why do you want to know? It's not that important".
"Well it is to me. I need to know whether Savannah was the one who killed him or not?" Katherine said as she abruptly stood up from the bed.
After a moment of silence, Nathan finally spoke, "Savannah didn't kill him. She remembers everything that happened that day. She didn't kill him".
Katherine was shocked upon hearing what Nathan said. If Savannah didn't kill him, then how did he die? Katherine wasn't kin on asking him about it, but he was one of the only people that know how Adam died. If not Nathan then she'd have to ask Savannah but she didn't want to bother her knowing that she's already traumatized by other deaths. Taking a deep breath, Katherine said those few words, "How did he die?"
After a long moment of silence, Nathan finally spoke, "It was like any normal weekend, sunny and bright. Adam and Savannah went out for a stroll. According to Savannah, Adam wanted to tell her something but she wasn't paying attention. While crossing the road, a big truck was racing towards them. Adam quickly pushed Savannah out of the way but before he could also leave the road, the truck ran over him. Before they could arrive at the hospital, it was already too late. Savannah still wishes she knew what he wanted to say. He sacrificed his life for her, the least she could have done was to listen to him". Nathan said with sympathy in his voice. 'It seemed as though he was really close to Adam, maybe they were close friends,' Katherine wondered before a thought crossed her mind. Nathan said Adam wanted to tell Savannah something, what if that's the information they need to solve this case? What if Nathan knows what Adam wanted to tell Savannah? It's better if she confirms this by asking Nathan, "Do you know what Adam wanted to tell Savannah that day, who knows, maybe it would be important in this case?" As the words left Katherine's lips, she started to rethink asking him about it.
"I don't remember much of what happened that day. I was mostly consoling Savannah.....or something like that. But a few weeks before that, Adam was saying something about how Savannah was acting a bit weird. The way he was being so serious made me wonder what he meant ". What Nathan said confused Katherine. Did Adam already get a prediction of Savannah's symptoms or did this whole thing start long before anyone could notice.
"Did Adam tell you about any of the weird things Savannah did?"
"He told me that she often sees things that aren't there. Sometimes she's not even in her room at night and forgets things a lot and later on acts like it's nothing important ".
"This means that Adam probably knew about Savannah's illness long before these occurrences. But why didn't you tell me all this earlier?"
"I'm not sure, I probably forgot about it. If only we had Adam's statement, this whole thing would have made more sense".
"Don't worry about that, we already have enough evidence to evaluate this more". Katherine said before ending the call...
